At the beginning of the week, we showed you a video that was all about drop and scratch testing Google's latest and greatest, the Pixel 8 Pro. And today we're back with a slightly different kind of 'durability testing', this time from JerryRigEverything. As usual with Zach's videos, there's a screen scratch test with no unexpected results. Then the metal frame is scratch tested, and is found to indeed be made out of metal. The display gets a permanent burn mark after being subjected to an open flame for about 17 seconds, and then it's on to the main event. The bend test. Perhaps...

Leakster: the OnePlus 12 will have a 6.82" display with 2,600 nits brightness
The upcoming OnePlus 12 will have a display with peak brightness that’s double that of the OnePlus 11 display – it will reach 2,600 nits, according to leakster Digital Chat Station. At low brightness levels the display will use high-frequency PWM dimming at 2,160Hz. The display will be slightly larger at 6.82” (up from 6.7”) while the aspect ratio will go down to 19.8:9 (from 20:9) as the panel will have a resolution of 1,440 x 3,168px. We’ve seen CAD-based renders of the new model, which show that the display is curved (slightly more than the OnePlus 11, by the looks of it). OnePlus...
Samsung's Exynos 2400 pops up on Geekbench
Samsung's upcoming Exynos 2400 chip has been tested on Geekbench 6, scoring 2,067 in single-core and 6,520 in multi-core. For context, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered Galaxy S23 Ultra scored 1,979 and 5,148, respectively on the same tests. That's an improvement of roughly 5% on single threaded performance and 22% on multi-threaded performance. The processor's prime core (likely a Cortex-X4) is rated at up to 3.21GHz - that's lower than the Snapdragon 8 gen 2 for Galaxy's Cortex-X3's 3.36GHz peak clock speed. Dimensity 9300 to be 10% faster than Snapdragon 8 Gen 3
Mediatek is expected to launch the Dimensity 9300 chipset soon, and previous reports by Digital Chat Station suggested four Cortex-X4 cores and four Cortex-A720 units with no low-power A520 cores whatsoever. Today, the leakster provided further information about the CPU clock speeds, claiming Dimensity 9300 will be 10% faster than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Mediatek is expected to go for the 1+3+4 architecture - 1x3.25 GHz Cortex-X4, 3x2.85 GHz Cortex-X4, 4x2.0 GHz Cortex-A720. We also expect to see an Immortalis-G720 GPU. This is in contrast to the 1+5+2 setup by Snapdragon -...
Snapdragon-powered Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra appears on Geekbench
Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S24 series in January, and today, the Ultra variant for the US market appeared on Geekbench. The SM-S928U device is listed with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (codename pineapple), which will have a 1+3+2+2 CPU configuration. The prime core ticks at 3.30 GHz, which is less than the previous generation Snapdragon flagship, but the rest that is more impressive - the second cluster is three cores at 3.15 GHz, the third is two units at 2.96 GHz, and the remaining two cores are clocked at 2.27 GHz. The phone tested had a relatively tame 8 GB RAM. It will...
