Realme X7 series will pack a punch hole display with 1,200 nits brightness

The Realme X7 series coming on September 1 will include the X7 Pro and likely the regular X7. Realme has already confirmed that its X7 lineup will feature an AMOLED screen having a 120Hz refresh rate - a first for the company since its previously launched 120Hz smartphones came with LCD panels. Today the company revealed more about the lineup's display. Realme shared a poster on Weibo showing the fascia of the X7 series smartphone. It sports a punch hole display that has 1,200 nits of brightness with 4,096 levels of intelligent brightness adjustment. This makes it the brightest screen...

Oppo A53 silently arrives for pre-order

Reports about a new phone called Oppo A53 emerged earlier this week (not to be confused with the five-year-old Oppo A53), and the device has suddenly appeared for pre-order on the Indonesian version of Lazada, a popular online retailer in the South-East Asia region. The phone is listed with a full specs sheet, renders and price tag - it will be officially on sale on August 27 for INR2,499,000, which is about $170/€140. Oppo A53 The leaked specs sheet from Monday got most of the specs correct - we’re looking at a Snapdragon 460 chipset with octa-core CPU, Adreno 610 GPU and...

Google Pixel 4a drops to $240 at Verizon

Google's Pixel 4a is a very recent addition to the company's roster, and yet it's already getting a pretty substantial discount at Verizon. The phone is normally priced at $349, but right now you can pick one up from Big Red for just $240. Those are some solid savings right there. Of course, as you may have expected, there are caveats to mention here. First off, you need to add a new line to take advantage of this price (or be a new customer). Second, and perhaps most importantly, you have to purchase the phone on the carrier's device installment plan, which means you won't pay the...

New Pixel Buds feature drop arrives along with more color options

The 2nd-generation Pixel Buds are getting their first “feature drop”. This update (first of [hopefully] more) will unlock new options and features for the Pixel Buds. In a Blog post, Google highlighted three new features: bass boost, sharing detection, new translate transcription features, Attention Alerts, and a new Find My Device feature. In addition, the colors are now available from Google in three new colors. After initially launching in Clearly White, the Buds can now be purchased in Oh So Orange, Quite Mint, and Almost Black. The Pixel Buds weren’t known for delivering...

Android Auto wireless availability will expand greatly with Android 11

Cable-free Android Auto has been around since 2018 but the list of compatible smartphones and car units has been limited to say the least. It seems this will change with the wider roll-out of Android 11 as Google will support any device running its latest OS and equipped with 5Ghz Wi-Fi connectivity according to its FAQ page. Note that EU availability will depend on local rules for using 5Ghz bands in cars. Android Auto FAQ page Until now, wireless Android Auto connectivity was exclusive to Google’s Pixel and Nexus phones as well as a small number of Samsung Galaxy devices. The list...

TENAA lists new Oppo phone with 65 W fast charging, 5G connectivity

TENAA added a new Oppo phone to its database – no, not the F17 Pro that was teased earlier today. That one promises to measure only 7.48 mm thick and weigh 164 g while this one is a tiny bit chunkier at 7.85 mm and 169 g. Still, this model – PEAM00/PEAT00 – is interesting because it features 65 W fast charging, according to leakster Digital Chat Station. The battery is listed as 2,100 mAh, but that’s certainly a mistake and the actual capacity should be twice that (two cell batteries are common with fast charging phones). Judging by the layout of the triple camera, this will be an...

Microsoft Surface Duo passes by Geekbench, scores above other Snapdragon 855 phones

Microsoft’s Surface Duo will be up for grabs in a few weeks' time but we already have its first Geekbench run. The version in the test appears to be the base 6/128GB unit, powered by the Snapdragon 855 chipset and its result is in line with that of flagships powered by last year’s SoC. Surface Duo Geekbench result The Duo managed a 762 single-core score and 2,867 points in the multi-core department. A quick comparison to Samsung’s Galaxy Fold which is powered by the very same chipset reveals the Duo managed slightly better multi-core performance by roughly 200 points. Overall, the...

The Lava Pulse is a feature phone with a built in heart rate and blood pressure sensor

Monitoring your health is always important, now perhaps more than ever. To make that a little easier, Lava introduced a featurephone with a built in heart rate and blood pressure sensor. The aptly-named Lava Pulse costs INR 1,949 – that’s $26. The sensor is located on the back, next to the camera. You put your finger on it and watch the screen for a readout (it goes without saying that finger-based blood pressure measurements are not going to be particularly accurate). The Pulse has a 2.4” screen (240 x 320 px) and runs proprietary feature phone software. Storage can be expanded up to...

The Axon 20 5G will sport a notchless display, and ZTE has teased its design multiple times before. In the latest video posted on Weibo, ZTE once again teased the smartphone's notchless design, which is achieved with the use of an in-display camera and not a pop-up camera. You can check out the clip below. A render of the Axon 20 5G shared by ZTE yesterday confirmed the smartphone will sport a quad camera setup on the back, which according...

You might be interested in this launch even if you’re not in Japan as this phone will have 12 GB of RAM. You can only buy 8 GB models right now, in Japan and elsewhere. Nokia 3.4  spotted at Geekbench with a Snapdragon 460 chipset

We can add a new entry to the list of Marvel-themed codenames for HMD phones – Doctor Strange. Unofficially, this phone is expected to be marketed under the name Nokia 3.4 and it is part of the upcoming “.4” series, which includes the Nokia 2.4 (aka Wolverine). The Nokia 3.4 was spotted in Geekbench results, which list the chipset as “Qualcomm Qualcomm” (that’s not very helpful, is it?). but the score matches the vivo Y20 result – a phone that is expected to be equipped with the new Snapdragon 460 chipset. Geekbench 5 results: Nokia 3.4 (Doctro Strange) • Nokia 2.4...

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE spin animations surface giving a 360° look at the phone

A couple of days ago we saw the Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition renders in six different colors. Today @evleaks adds two 360° spins for a better look at the upcoming flagship. The colors seen in these spins don’t quite match up with the ones in the renders, so keep that in mind. The left side of the phone is now completely bare as the volume rocker jumped on the right and the Bixby key was booted – these are changes shared by all 2020 Galaxy flagships. But this phone isn’t a 1:1 copy of one of the current S20 models. For one, that triple camera on the back may appear...

Oppo F17 Pro is coming soon as the 'sleekest phone of 2020' under INR25,000

Oppo unveiled the F15 back in January and now the company is set to introduce its successor, dubbed Oppo F17 Pro. Oppo's Indian branch took to Twitter to tease the F17 Pro and posted a short clip that says the F17 Pro is "coming soon". The video also shows us the left side of the phone, which is home to the SIM card slot and volume rocker. We can also see the camera bump that hints at the F17 Pro featuring dual rear cameras, which is actually surprising since the F15 came with quad rear cameras. However, there's also the possibility of the F17 Pro having four snappers on the back...

Samsung Galaxy M51 to bring 7,000 mAh battery, SD730 chipset

Samsung is going to introduce a phone called Galaxy M51 any time now, and reports about the device have been pouring in since March. The latest leak says it will come with Snapdragon 730 chipset and mind-blowing battery capacity of 7,000 mAh - the most ever put in a smartphone. Samsung Galaxy M51 renders The leak further claims that the Samsung Galaxy M51 will arrive with a 64 MP main camera, while the front will have a flat 6.67” panel with Full HD+ resolution. Huawei Mate40 Pro display glass points to smaller punch hole

We’ve already seen renders of Huawei’s upcoming Mate40 Pro which showed us it will come with a dual punch hole notch like the P40 series. The cut out appeared to be smaller in size and now we have a leaked image of the phone’s display glass which shows it’s indeed shrunken in size compared to the P40 Pro. We can also see the display will retain its curved “waterfall” design like on the Mate30 Pro. According to the new leak, the top and bottom of the panel will also feature a curvature though not as pronounced as on the P40 Pro. Elsewhere, the Mate40 Pro is expected to carry the 5nm...

Huawei to bring Enjoy 20 Plus with Mediatek chipset rather than Kirin 820

The Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro is already official and we expect at least two more phones to join the line - Huawei Enjoy 20 and Huawei Enjoy 20 Plus. The latter was reported to have Kirin 820 chipset, among other specs, but a reliable leakster on Weibo says the company is going to switch its in-house platform for a 5G chipset by Mediatek. There is no explanation why the switch might happen but given the recent troubles Huawei is having with its chipset arm, it is not surprising it wants to limit its in-house products for more valuable devices and not a China-only lineup - after all the Enjoy...
