Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 officially arriving on October 25

Two weeks ago we heard that Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 might eventually arrive on October 15. Since we are already in the second half of the month, the Chinese company technically delivered an announcement - it announced the launch date of the new flagship. The Mi Mix 3 will arrive on October 25, and it appears the sliding camera mechanism is real, according to the teaser on Weibo. Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 was initially teased with a Find X-esque notch that comes up, but after further investigation, it might be 100% screen-to-body front with a sliding back. There's also the technical possibility that...

Huawei has sold 45 million Enjoy smartphones in three years

Huawei has made the Enjoy 9 Plus and Enjoy Max official at an event in China. The Honor 8X and 8X Max lookalikes come with slightly different specs and Huawei's badge on them instead of Honor's. On that occasion, the company has boasted about achieving an important milestone. So far it has sold more than 45 million Enjoy smartphones across the globe. That's in around three years of availability of this line. The family was born in 2015 with the Enjoy 5 and Enjoy 5s aiming for very budget-conscious buyers that were looking for a device in the CNY 1,000 to 1,999 price range (around...

Palm is back with a 3.3-inch device that's billed as a companion for your smartphone

Sometimes companies experiment with new product categories. Sometimes those experiments prove to be hugely successful - see Samsung's Note line - and sometimes, well, not so much. It's probably too early to tell what fate the new Verizon-exclusive Palm will have, but for now the device is a head scratcher. First off, it's called Palm. Just Palm. Like the company. Like the brand, that's now owned by TCL (which makes Alcatel and BlackBerry smartphones these days). Oh, and it's not a smartphone. It may look like a tiny smartphone, but it isn't. Instead, it's a $349 gadget that has LTE...

Oppo R15X flexes its Snapdragon 660 on Geekbench

The Oppo PBCM10, which leaked alongside two other phones last week, and is believed to be called the Oppo R15X, has popped up on Geekbench. The device listed in the benchmark carries a Snapdragon 660 chipset (corroborating an earlier leak) with 6GB of RAM and runs Android 8.1. We expect the Oppo R15X to carry a 6.4-inch display with a water drop-styled notch, 4GB and 6GB of RAM, up to 128GB of storage, a 16MP+2MP main camera and a 25MP selfie camera. The battery is rumored to have 3,500mAh capacity. Source

Apple iPhone XS Max vs. Samsung Galaxy Note9

At a time when LG is pushing the boundaries and installing all sorts of cameras in the V40 ThinQ (the ultra-wide/normal/tele trifecta we've all been waiting for), Apple and Samsung are taking a conservative approach and perfecting their dual camera game.

Huawei Mate 20 and Pro rumor roundup

Tomorrow is the big day for Huawei fans - the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will be revealed. There was an abundance of leaks building up to the event, which we will attempt to summarize here. What's the difference? The Huawei Mate 20 Pro will have a curved OLED display with a higher resolution than the non-Pro - 1440p+ vs. 1080p+ - and an in-display fingerprint reader. In both cases the screen size will be about 6.4" (give or take a few tenths). The notches will be a different size as well, the Pro getting a wider notch to accommodate a more advanced face unlock system. The Huawei Mate 20...

That last one is a big deal as you'll be able to edit a PSD file on your laptop or PC and then continue on the iPad. Adobe Photoshop CC for the iPad will feature Apple Pencil support but is also made with...

Samsung Galaxy W2019 will have two 4.2-inch screens, 3,000mAh battery

We now know a bit more about Samsung's upcoming Galaxy W2019 flip phone. The information comes courtesy of the TENAA. The W2019 will have two 4.2-inch Super AMOLED screens, like its predecessor W2018, and a 3,000mAh battery. We know from earlier leaks that the clamshell phone will pack the same dual camera as the Galaxy Note9 and S9+ and will likely offer a Snapdragon 845 chipset instead of the Exynos 9810, given its China-only availability. We can't say when the W2019 will be announced but we expect it to carry a luxurious price of around CNY 17,000 (€2,100), similar to its...

Lenovo S5 Pro teasers show a dual camera, question the image quality of rivals

So, they will be different phones after all - the Lenovo Z5 Pro, a quad camera flagship, launch after the Lenovo S5 Pro, which will be unveiled on October 18. The S5 Pro will have only a dual camera on its back. We saw camera samples from the telephoto camera and now we have more details. The info comes from some aggressive teasers. The first one calls out the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite for not having a telephoto camera. The next one questions the low-light capabilities of the Honor 8X when it doesn't have a 20+12MP camera like the S5 Pro does. Lenovo S5 Pro teasers question the camera...

Nokia 3.1 Plus and Nokia 7.1 go on pre-order in Russia

Two of Nokia's latest smartphones, the 3.1 Plus and the 7.1 are now up for pre-order in Russia. The Nokia 7.1 is the pricier of the two, coming in at RUB 19,000 (€250) for the available 3GB/32GB model while the Nokia 3.1 Plus is priced at RUB 13,000 (€170) for its 3GB/16GB variant. Nokia's official store doesn't cite a specific shipping date just yet. The Nokia 7.1 became official on October 4 during an event in London. Samsung Galaxy Note10 to come with a 6.66" display

Industry insiders claim that the Samsung Galaxy Note10 will come with a 6.66" display next year. This is reportedly part of the specifications that Samsung Mobile handed to Samsung Display so that the panel maker can start work on the larger Super AMOLED panel. The Galaxy Note9 has a 6.4" screen size and (assuming the aspect ratio stays the same), the next Note flagship will offer about 8% more surface area. Note that while the iPhone XS Max has a 6.5" screen, due to the aspect ratio and the notch, the usable surface area is actually smaller than Note9's. One of the three Galaxy S10...

Huawei Mate 20 to arrive with a 40W fast charger

Huawei is introducing the Mate 20 series smartphones tomorrow in London, UK. We are expecting the Mate 20, the Mate 20 Pro, a gaming-focused Mate 20X, and a variant developed by Porsche Design. The Chinese manufacturer is famous with its extremely fast 18W charging technology, but according to a leaked promo poster, the new devices will go a step further and offer 40W charging. The promo image has the front of the Mate 20 with a waterdrop notch, mixed with the back of the Mate 20 Pro that should come with an under-display fingerprint scanner, according to accumulated leaks. We also...

Nokia 7.1 Plus teaser images released, the unveiling is tomorrow

Last week we got a Nokia Plus phone, just not the model we expected. The Nokia 7.1 Plus, aka Nokia X7, really is coming and soon too - tomorrow! That's its launch in China and, if history is any indication, other markets will get it in a month. Unlike the previous vague teasers, this one straight up shows the phone. Not that we expected a radical redesign from the non-Plus model. Still, it brings several improvements like a larger 6.18" notched display, faster Snapdragon 710 chipset, bigger 3,400mAh battery, improved 12+13MP dual camera on the back and a 20MP selfie camera in the...

Nokia 5.1 Plus to get Android Pie by the end of 2018

HMD Global introduced the Nokia 5.1 Plus as a global variant of the Nokia X5 in Taiwan. Later, the phone made its way to India and other markets. It was promised to receive Android Pie but until the weekend, there wasn't any time frame for the update. Now, thanks to Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer at HMD, we know the wait is almost over. Juho said he "would be surprised" if the Nokia 5.1 Plus does not receive the latest OS before the end of 2018. The Android Pie update is already rolling out to the Nokia 7 plus and we know what will arrive to the 5.1 Plus. There will be new...

Asus introducing 2 new Zenfones on October 17

The Taiwanese company Asus caught us off-guard last week with scheduling an event on October 17. A source suggested we might see a new iteration of the Zenfone Max Pro with a regular variant and a Lite version. Asus decided to lift the curtain a bit and announced on Twitter that it will indeed launch two new smartphones, with one of them being a global first. At ASUS, we are constantly looking to innovate and make our products befitting to the Indian Market. Tune in to the live stream on 17th October and witness the launch of our two new smartphones in India! Including a Global First!...
