Samsung has started pushing out a new update to its Galaxy A5 (2016) smartphone. Currently rolling out in Europe and weighing in at over 20MB, the update brings along Android security patch for the month of October. In addition, the change-log for the update reveals that fix for a critical security flaw is also included, although details aren't mentioned. As is usually the case with OTA roll outs, it may take time for the update to hit your device. Strategy Analytics: Android accounts for 88% of smartphones shipped in Q3 2016
'Android is doing better than ever' is the takeaway from a research carried out by Strategy Analytics. Google's OS accounts for a whopping 87.5% of total smartphone shipments in the period spanning July 1 to September 30. The Android share has grown by 3.4 percentage points year on year to the detriment of both iOS and other operating systems. Pixel XL adoption is faster than Nexus 6P, says analytics firm
Google is pushing the Pixel phones much harder than it did any Nexus before it. According to data by Appboy, it's working.
