Weekly poll results: Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s found sizzling

How hot is the new Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s? "Very" is the answer. The comment section lauded it for the slender bezels of its notch-free display, although the LCD vs. AMOLED question was prevalent among commenters. Everyone has preferences in that debate, but the Mix series has used LCD since its inception. And while it's a pretty major upgrade, keep in mind that this is an "s" model so a complete overhaul was unlikely. The new chipset and dual camera sure are appreciated, though. We'll echo some of the comments wishing for an Android One version of the phone - MIUI is feature-packed, but some...

Apple's iOS through the years

When Steve Jobs demonstrated the first iPhone at Macworld in January 2007, he famously stated that smartphones at the time had ‘baby software' while referring to WAP as the ‘baby internet'. While that may have been true, it's easy to look back today and highlight everything that iOS didn't have. You see, when it came to operating system development, Steve Jobs adamantly believed that you had to start humbly, focusing on the simple elements such as what a button would look like. Then build upon the solid foundation. If we included every iOS feature you'd be here all week and probably...

Nokia 7 Plus in for review

HMD Global's plan to resurrect the legendary Nokia brand has been going smoothly so far. The new Finnish management owns a lot of that to just a few, very important, core design principles. Instead of blindly trying to outspec its competitors, HMD went about things a bit differently, building solid devices, with a focus on a pure and clean Android experience and timely updates The Nokia 7 Plus is the perfect embodiment of that ideology. Rocking a Snapdragon 660 chipset, it doesn't try to outdo its mid-range standing and get in the Nokia 8 Sirocco's way. Yet, in many ways, the Nokia 7...

Motorola Moto G6 Plus spotted on GeekBench, rocking a Snapdragon 660 chipset

After a few quite extensive leaks, it really did seem like there was little more to learn about Motorola's upcoming Moto G6 family. However, after both the Moto G6 and the Moto G6 Play made their respective pits tops at GeekBench, today the G6 Plus joined their ranks as well, with a slight twist. Instead of the Snapdragon 630, it was widely believed to utilize, according toe the benchmark, the tested unit was running a Snapdragon 660, at 2.21 GHz. That being said, the actual test scores themselves don't exactly pan out, since we would expect at least 5000+ multi-core points from...

Blush Gold iPhone X certified at the FCC

Apple's recent announcement of a Product Red Special Edition variant for the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus, left quite a few iPhone X fans disappointed. As per the latest info out of Cupertino, there isn't going to be one. Instead, Apple has launched a Product Red Leather Folio case for the phone, which features a deeper red finish and a contribution to the Global Funds for fighting HIV/AIDS built into the price, as well. Blush Gold iPhone X That's not really the same, but at least it's some form of consolation. And so is this gold iPhone X, recently spotted in an FCC...

Xiaomi CEO spotted wearing new smartband, likely the Mi Band 3

Yesterday saw the unveiling of Xiaomi's new gaming smartphone - the Black Shark and naturally, Lei Jun, company founder, chairman and CEO attended the event. With flashy new logos and green accents flying all over the place, it was kind of easy to miss a mysterious new accessory on Lei Jun's wrist. It is, most likely, the Xiaomi Mi Band 3 - the new version of the popular low-cost wearable, that Huang Wang (Huami Technology's CEO) confirmed will be coming out this year. Looking at the photos, it is clear that the overall shape of the band is unchanged from previous iterations....

Upcoming Honor 10 said to feature innovative multi-scene detection for photos

If you've been keeping up with Honor rumors lately, then you probably heard the company is planing a successor, or update, of sorts to its quite successful View 10. Apparently called the Honor 10, the device is expected to rock the same Kirin 970 flagship chipset, like its sibling, borrow the Huawei P20's 12MP, plus 20MP dual camera setup and make its first official appearance on April 19. According to some recently unearthed documents, allegedly pertaining to the Honor 10, its headlining feature might be something called "semantic image segmentation mode". What it is, in practise,...
