Samsung has started rolling out a new update to the Galaxy J7 Prime smartphone. Arriving as build number G610FDDU1AQA2, it's basically a security update that brings along Android fixes for the month of February. Sadly, there's currently no confirmation on what other changes (if any) the update includes, although reports say some performance improvements are there. Anyway, as is usually the case with OTA roll outs, it may take time for the update to hit your device. Meanwhile, if you feel impatient, you can manually check for it by heading to your handset's Settings menu. Via

New leak of the Moto G5 Plus reveals 5.2-inch screen, 12MP camera, and NFC
A Reddit post gained some attention after a day or so, originating from a member of a Brazilian Moto G4 community on Google + who claimed that he had the device in-hand for testing on operators. Unfortunately, he doesn't talk much about the phone in the photo's comments. What the Google + user did mention was that the alleged device features FM Radio, Digital TV, and that the G5's SIM slot has been changed to a nanoSIM, an update from previous generation devices that accepted microSIM cards. Source: Google + Otherwise, the protective plastic on the handset's display gives away...
LG Watch Sport for AT&T shows up in leaked document
There is less than a day before Google is set to announce a couple of new wearable devices alongside the release of Android Wear 2.0 and the cat is already out of the bag as to the specific carrier that will support the LG Watch Sport on their LTE networks. A leaked document obtained by PhoneArena from AT&T shows a diagram of the LG Watch Sport's display setup for showcasing the new wearable in retail stores. This obviously means that AT&T stores will be carrying the new Watches very soon and could be selling them as early as this weekend. Just keep in mind, there is still no exact...
Huawei Fit smartwatch deal sees it offered for just $69.99, saving you $60
In November of last year Huawei announced the Fit, a new smartwatch running a proprietary operating system and, like its name implies, focusing on fitness. The Huawei Fit launched in the US priced at $129.99, which seemed a bit much for what it's offering: a 1.04-inch 208x208 round monochrome display, IP68 certification for 50m water resistance and dustproof status, and an 80 mAh battery. Thankfully in the meantime most big retailers have cut its price down to a more palatable $99.99, but what if even that feels too expensive for you? Well, in that case Daily Steals has you covered, but...
ZTE Quartz Android Wear smartwatch coming soon, image leaked
Google should finally launch Android Wear 2.0 tomorrow, and alongside that announcement we'll also see the official introduction of the LG Watch Sport and Watch Style, the first devices to run the new software release from day one. However, Google has already promised that many more Android Wear 2.0 watches are coming this year from its partners. The latest company to join this fray is ZTE, according to a new leak. The Chinese smartphone maker is allegedly working on its first smartwatch to run Android Wear, which will be called Quartz and is pictured below. The ZTE Quartz is said...
Apple's BeatsX wireless headphones are finally out on February 10
Apple's long-delayed BeatsX wireless neckband-style earphones are finally going to become available globally on February 10. That's when you'll be able to buy a pair from Apple's online stores, authorized resellers, as well as the Apple physical stores. The BeatsX will set you back $150, £130, or AUD 200, depending on where you live. At first they will only be offered in black and white, but a couple of newly unveiled color versions are coming soon: gray and blue. The BeatsX were allegedly designed by Apple-owned Beats with the help of Apple engineers, and they include the custom W1 chip...
Leaked image allegedly shows the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X ahead of its unveiling tomorrow
Over the past two months or so we've been hearing a lot about Xiaomi's upcoming Redmi Note 4X phablet, which is supposed to be a beefed up version of the Redmi Note 4 that launched last year. Now, ahead of the new phablet's unveiling which is set for tomorrow, the image you can see below has surfaced, purportedly depicting the Redmi Note 4X in two different color versions: green and black. Yes, its back looks just like that of the Redmi Note 4, in fact the entire design has been rumored to remain unchanged. So we can't be certain that what you're looking at is the Redmi Note 4X and...

Newly released Opera 43 for computers is the fastest version ever
With Chrome dominating the desktop browser space, it's easy to forget that there are alternatives out there. One of the oldest is Opera, and today the company behind that browser has announced a new version as being available. Opera 43 is claimed to be the fastest version ever, and it brings a few new features to achieve that title. First, instant page loading predicts which URL you're typing in the address bar before you've finished typing it, and proceeds to load that website in the background. So when you do actually hit enter to go there, it will appear to load instantly. Instant page...
Samsung Galaxy S8's Bixby virtual assistant rumored to support 7-8 languages
Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S8 has long been rumored to feature a brand new virtual assistant tentatively called Bixby. This has been apparently made possible by the company having acquired a specialized startup launched by the creators of Apple's Siri. So far we've heard that Bixby will be able to identify objects and text through the camera's viewfinder, and it will also feature some kind of integration with Samsung Pay. Anyway, today's rumor from Samsung's home of South Korea claims that Bixby will launch with support for 7 to 8 different languages, including English, Korean and Chinese....
Analysts: Samsung Gear VR conquers VR market in 2016
When you hear "VR" your first thought may be of Oculus or Vive, but as Superdata reports, Samsung was actually the biggest vendor of VR headsets in 2016 based on units shipped - a whopping 4.5 million of the 6.3 million devices sold were Gear VRs. We guess it helps that the company has been handing them out for free with various Galaxy flagships. In contrast, an Oculus Rift or Vive headset is in the hundreds of dollars. Google's Daydream is also quite affordable, but it came out late in the game. In 2017, we'll see - the list of supported phones keeps growing and Daydream is cheaper than...
Sony's new image sensor can shoot 1080p @ 1,000fps video thanks to on-chip RAM
Sony has many imaging revolutions under its belt but the tech giant keeps pushing the envelope. It just introduced the industry's first 3-layer stacked CMOS image sensor. Plainly put, Sony added RAM to the image sensor to enable high-speed capture - like 1080p video at 1,000fps, for example. The camera actually captures two streams - one at 1,000fps and one at regular speed, both of which are stored in the on-chip RAM for later processing. This allows the camera to integrate slow-motion segments into regular speed videos seamlessly. Don't worry if you don't have lightning-fast reflexes...
Qualcomm, Telstra demo 1Gbps LTE in Australia with the X16 modem
The Land Down Under is getting some impressive LTE speeds - Telstra demonstrated its new gigabit network which achieved 930Mbps downlink and 127Mbps uplink speeds in a test. The test was done over a Netgear Nighthawk M1 mobile router. That router is the first to be powered by Qualcomm's X16 LTE modem. Why you should care? The Snapdragon 835 chipset has that exact same modem. No phones have it yet, but it won't be long now. Anyway, that single mobile router managed to power five Pixel XL phones in a Daydream VR headset, each streaming 360° 4K video. Simultaneously! And this was live...
Alleged first live photo of Samsung Galaxy S8 surfaces
Samsung Galaxy S8 will be released next month so it's not unexpected to have some units already assembled and working. With a healthy dose of suspicion we present you the first alleged image of a powered-on Samsung Galaxy S8, running the Weibo app. It was first leaked on the Chinese social network. On the picture we see a dual-curved screen that stretches edge to edge and no physical button below it. The 3.5-mm audio jack, USB Type-C and a sound grill on the bottom of the phone are also there to see. We already saw alleged images of powered-on devices but they appeared to be...
New Snapdragon 835 gets benchmark shows improved score
Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 is yet to be released in a smartphone, but it's already shaping to be the chipset to beat in the first half of 2017. We already know the Samsung Galaxy S8 will sport the SoC and a few of its competitors will also be using Qualcomm's latest and greatest. Geekbench tested an alleged Xiaomi Mix Evo powered by the chipset with the name MSM8998 but now a new scorecard shows an improved performance on a reference device running Androud Nougat 7.1.1 According to the source, the CPU is octa-core, peaking at 1.90 GHz. It scored 2004 on the Single-Core test and 6233...
Google makes it easier to share original URL in AMP links
Google announced Accelerated Mobile Pages or AMP as a way to speed up loading results in search pages. This involved caching the most popular responses to common terms, preloading them in the background and then serving them instantly when you clicked on them on the search page. AMP'd links are highlighted in a separate section at the top in mobile search and always load instantly. However, due to the way it works, the AMP links have an altered URL which isn't very good for sharing purposes. Moreover, getting the original URL of the page was a bit of a hassle and not something most...
Meizu M5s unit now spotted in the wild
For a still unannounced handset, the Meizu M5s has definitely been making a lot of appearances lately. We already have a TENAA listing, benchmark results and a couple of official-looking photos, all accounted for. Now, a new trio of live shots can be added to the mix. These popped-up on a Chinese social network recently and showcase a working unit. The retail package is also captured, leaving little doubt that, that it is the Meizu M5s we are looking at. The box sticker also mentions a model number - "M612Q", LTE capabilities, as well as 3GB of RAM and 32 GB of built-in storage. We can...
Nougat update for Huawei Honor 6X might not arrive in March after all
Earlier this month, Huawei confirmed that the Nougat update for the Honor 6X will start rolling out in March. That was indeed a pleasant surprise given that the company had earlier said the rollout would begin in Q2 this year. However, turns out that's not the case. The source of the report has now clarified that the March time-frame is for the review unit they've received for testing. The Chinese company, for its part, is officially sticking to the H1 2017 time-frame for the public roll-out of the Honor 6X Nougat update. Keep in mind that the final roll out could still begin in...

Flash sale of white-colored Xiaomi Mi Mix over in under a minute
You blinked, didn't you? The white Xiaomi Mi Mix went on its first flash sale and things were over in under a minute. The White 4GB/128GB model was selling at CNY 3,500 (that's around $510/480). The 6GB/256GB model remains exclusively black for now, which is a bit of a shame, since the white model is gorgeous. An even bigger shame is that the Mi Mix is not available outside of China. If you regret missing this round, the next one will be on Tuesday next week (February 14). Chances are that supplies will be limited again and will fly off the virtual shelves of Mi.com. P.S....

Samsung will release the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus on March 29. Until then we'll be discovering bits about the awaited devices day after day. The Galaxy S8 will have 5.7" display while the bigger device is going for 6.2". The overall size of the device won't be significantly bigger since Samsung is dropping the Home Key and minimizing bezels all around. Now the fingerprint scanner is on the back, next to the...

LG names G6 display "Full Vision"
We already told you about the unusual 5.7" QHD+ display LG Display started producing for the LG G6. It has 2,880 x 1,440 resolution and 18:9 ratio, something we haven't seen yet in a smartphone. Now this display has an official name and it is "Full Vision", quite good name actually for a front panel "filled" with screen. A company teaser from earlier this year already hinted about a bigger display in the same body. In the same time renders are showing an almost bezel-less screen that will probably make LG G6's visual experience even better. LG Electronics is trying its best to...
