This past weekend, Apple Watch 3 users reported an issue with their units where-in they said the device crashed upon being queried about weather information. Specifically, reports said the crash occurred when they asked the watch about weather information for the current day. It's worth mentioning that no crash was observed if the query was not weather-related or related to weather but not for the current day. A user on Reddit (where the problem was widely reported) said the problem is related to the end of Daylight Saving Time - the change happened this weekend. Here's what they...

New Google Search feature lets you compare device specifications
A new Google Search feature has been spotted in the wild. As per those who are seeing it, the feature lets you compare specifications of two devices, displaying a neat comparison chart in output. As clear from the screenshots above, you just need to put in a query like 'Pixel 2 vs Pixel 2XL,' and Google will display a quick comparison chart. You can expand the chart by hitting the blue button, and there's even an option to highlight differences. The Mountain View, California-based company is yet to officially announce this feature (which reportedly works for only two devices at the...
Essential Phone gets another price cut in US, now going for $450
Around a couple of weeks after it came to light that Essential has officially dropped the price of its debut PH-1 smartphone by $200, the device has received another price cut in the country. Best Buy currently has the phone listed for $449.99. That, if you calculate, translates into a discount of $250 over the handset's launch price. And if you have a Friends and Family code, you can save even more. What's, however, worth mentioning here is that this extra $50 discount is currently not official, meaning Essential is still selling the phone for $499. For a limited time, Best Buy...
Week 44 in review: Razer Phone, U11 duo Oppo R11s and Nokia 2 arrive
Week 44 saw no less than seven new handsets make their debuts, with Razer's smartphone debut gathering the most attention, while HTC brought forward its U11+ flagship and U11 Life mid-ranger. Oppo showed its R11s flagship, while HMD and Xiaomi unveiled a trio of entry-level devices - the Nokia 2, Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite. OnePlus delivered a few more teasers for its upcoming 5T flagship and confirmed that it will come with a 3.5mm audio jack. In software-related news Xiaomi started the rollout of the global MIUI 9, while Sasmung started the beta test of the Oreo update for its...
Top 10 trending phones of week 44
It was another action packed week in the smartphone world with the iPhone X finally going on sale and the Razer Phone going official. Those two are now in our top 3, but they didn't manage to dethrone the Oppo F5, which retains the lead. Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro dropped to fourth, ahead of the Xiaomi Mi A1 and its far more premium sibling - Samsung Galaxy Note8. Nokia 6 edged out another phone to debut this week - the Xiaomi Remdmi Y1 - for seventh place. The final two spots are taken by the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime and the Xiaomi Redmi 4. This makes it 4 new names among the 10 most...
Weekly poll: Razer Phone, hot or not?
Gaming phones have a tragic history - the failure of Nokia's N-Gage and Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play is like an albatross around the neck of each and every new game-centric phone. Is it time to put that past failures to rest? It's been 14 years since the first of those and nearly 7 since the Xperia now. The Razer Phone comes from a company best-known for its gaming hardware - computers, laptops, accessories, if it has RGB lights, Razer sells it. And their tagline is "For gamers. By gamers." Still, we think there's more to this phone than games. The one feature that is strictly...
Weekly poll results: iPhone X soaks up the fan love, leaving scraps for the iPhone 8
There are two kinds of people in the world - iOS fans and Android fans. Of iOS fans, more than double the number of people want an iPhone X than an iPhone 8 or 8 Plus. Analysts saw this coming when they forecast that the X will account for half of the sales. Our poll shows the divide is 2 to 1 instead of 1 to 1, but wanting to buy the phone and actually getting it is another matter. The issue is twofold - price and availability. The iPhone X is the most expensive mass market phone ever and it will raise the Average Selling Price (ASP) of Apple's lineup. Even if the number of phones it...
Counterclockwise: console-quality graphics on phones
When a new flagship phone is announced, it's not uncommon to hear "console-quality graphics". And the contemporary consoles always have better graphics, why is that? A cynic might say "the SNES is a console too" but there's more to it. A coincidence recently caught our eye - the Apple A10 chipset (used in iPhone 7) has 3.3 billion transistors. An Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti has 3.3 billion transistors. But that's not a fair comparison. The Apple chipset includes a quad-core processor into the transistor budget. To be fair, we need to be comparing what AMD calls "APU" - a combined chip with both...
Razer Phone: Is this actually the ultimate gaming phone?
Following Wednesday's launch of the new Razer Phone and our hands-on review, I've now had the opportunity to play with the Razer Phone and I'm left wondering if this is actually a true gaming phone? What follows isn't a full review and test, that will come later, but my initial thoughts on the Razer Phone. It would be easy to view the new Razer Phone as a pure marketing exercise to appeal to their core market. On the surface the specs don't differ from the plethora of the recently launched 'flagship' phones. The Razer Phone, similar in size to the iPhone 8 Plus, has a large 5.7" screen,...
