Last week, we told you about a deal Amazon is offering on the international variants of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+. While that deal is still on (price tags, however, have been increased slightly), you can now get the models for even lower rates. eBay seller never-msrp has the phones listed for $600 and $690, respectively. For those who aren't aware, one of the key differences between international and US models is that the former are powered by Exynos 8895 Octa chipset, while the latter pack in Snapdragon 835. There's currently no information on when the offer ends, so those...

The roll out commenced a couple of weeks ago, but if your unit hasn't got the update yet, you can manually check for it by heading to your handset's Settings menu. Via

Samsung officially announces Galaxy Note Fan Edition in Korea
Samsung has relaunched the Note7 in Korea under the name Galaxy Note Fan Edition. It is essentially the same device but with some key changes that will make it less. explody. The major difference here really is the battery, which as we know now, was the source of the fire in the original Note7. The Fan Edition has a smaller 3200mAh battery as opposed to the 3500mAh in the Note7. The new battery goes through the same rigorous 8-point battery safety test that Samsung started with the Galaxy S8. Apart from that, the Fan Edition also comes with the same software that is on the new...
Week 26 in review: OnePlus 5 jello effect, Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 debuts
It's been over a week since the OnePlus 5 went official, but the smartphone is still making headlines. It got a new update, broke sales records, but early adopters also spotted a jello effect when scrolling. Meanwhile, as August draws closer, the Galaxy Note8 leaks start to intensify and we begin to put together the puzzle that is going to be the future Samsung phablet flagship. Qualcomm announced its first 14nm entry-level chipset and fingerprint tech ready for embedding under the display, while vivo immediately demoed a working prototype with that. For this and more of the topics...
Weekly poll: what's your favorite dual cam setup?
Dual cameras are not new - in 2011 there was a short-lived fad with 3D cameras. The market quickly snuffed it out. Dual cameras are back and with greater success. They are now seen almost essential for a flagship! But what does a "dual camera" do? LG was the first to resurrect the dual camera and gave the second sensor a wide-angle lens. Once that setup moved from the selfie camera (V10) to the main camera, landscape photography became a breeze and videos had that cool "action cam" look. Huawei was next to jump on board (with Leica riding shotgun). It chose a monochrome camera for the...

This week - on Thursday - the iPhone turned 10! We'll take this opportunity to reflect on how the best-known phone in the world changed the smartphone landscape and even its parent company. A pivotal moment in Apple's history was the introduction of the iPod. It was the first truly successful non-computer product by Apple (after many bumps in the road) and it helped propel iTunes to be one of the dominant music providers in the world. The iPhone was the next pivotal moment, so in its honor, let's look at the 10 most important moments of its history. We've already looked at the...
Top 10 trending phones of week 26
The OnePlus 5 kept its first position for a second week in a row, even if it's winning margin was much slimmer this time around. Still, it looks like it might hold on for at least a while longer, although matching the Galaxy S8 streak seems unlikely at this point. The Samsung Galaxy J7 Max exploded in popularity and jumped to second place, ahead of the Nokia 6. Below those two, the Xiaomi Redmi Not 4 retains the forth spot, while the Nokia 3 climbed a position to fifth. The Galaxy S8 finds itself in sixth this week - the lowest it has been since it was announced. Moving down the...
