However, last week Realme announced that it will unveil the Narzo series on April 21, but it seems the unveiling may get postponed once again. Top 10 trending phones of week 16

It was an exciting week 16 for mobile fans as Apple and OnePlus officially unveiled new phones and it's hardly a surprise that those are among the leaders in our top 10. In fact the iPhone SE (2020) was already on top last week so it was expected that it will retain the lead in its launch week. OnePlus 8 Pro is also having is second week in the top 10 in its first week of officialdom, taking second, while the vanilla OnePlus 8 got fourth. In fourth we have the original Apple iPhone SE as people would innevatibaly compare specs between that one and its 2020 edition. Truth be told...

Week 16 in review: Apple iPhone SE (2020), OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are here

Week 16 saw a few key announcements that will play an important role in shaping the market going forward. The long-awaited OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8 were unveiled - the Pro getting an official IP68 rating, wireless charging and a higher screen refresh rate, the 8 getting a new design and dropping the telephoto camera. They go on sale this week, starting at $699/£599/€699 for the OnePlus 8 and $899/£799/€899 for the OnePlus 8 Pro. Then Apple stole OnePlus' thunder with the announcement of the iPhone SE (2020). Largely based on the iPhone 8 from the distant year 2017 the new most...

OnePlus 8 in for review

When OnePlus unveiled the 8 alongside the 8 Pro, it received an underwhelming welcome (we'll admit we were less than overwhelmed with excitement too), mainly because it looked like a step sideways, compared to the OnePlus 7T. But it's a good, if small, update over that phone and as we welcome it to our review queue we'll go over the reasons why. First, let's look at the retail package. We received a special media kit, which includes a few optional accessories - a Sandstone Bumper case in lovely Cyan and a Nylon Bumper case in Black. The retail package, as OnePlus will be shipping it to...

Honor 30 lineup: random thoughts

This Wednesday Honor unveiled its new flagship trio: the Honor 30, Honor 30 Pro, and Honor 30 Pro+. While we are yet to spend some quality time with them and see how well they perform here are some early thoughts based on what we saw at the event. Honor is once again staying close to its parent company, reusing as much of the R&D and supply chain as possible without becoming a direct clone. The vanilla option, the Pro version, and the Pro+ camera behemoth, sit just below their respective P40 family siblings, allowing Huawei to offer options at six different price points. The...

Flashback: Palm Pre showed us the way to the future then faded to obscurity

How the mighty have fallen - before it was acquired and snuffed out by HP, Palm was known for popularizing Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), an ancestor to the modern smartphone. And before webOS was the software powering LG TVs, it was the best touch operating system for smartphones. The Palm Pre and webOS made their debut in June of 2009 when iOS and Android were still relatively young. Both the phone and its platform introduced features that are still in use today, even if people rarely remember the pioneers. Palm Pre The pebble-shaped handset was fairly compact and...

The new phones and tablets of the week

These last seven days were filled with high profile announcements - we had an Apple phone, two new OnePlus flagships, three devices from Honor, flip-phone from LG and a renamed Honor midranger. There were even Bluetooth earphones - here's a quick summary, in case you missed any of the launches. First, we're starting with the Apple iPhone SE (2020) - this name is so influential, we were hearing rumors about a second SE pretty much since the first one was announced in 2016 (how the time flies). But despite the name this is essentially an iPhone 8 with its TouchID home button and classic...

Weekly poll: have the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro lost what made the brand special?

It's a story as old as time - or as old as the concept of "flagship killers" at least. OnePlus may have gotten its start by offering more for less, but its phones changed gradually over the years, which brings us to today. The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro can't be called flagship killers. That title hasn't applied to the company's phones for a couple of generations now, but they still offered great value for money. Today we ask you if that's still true. The OnePlus 8 Pro starts at $900/€900/£800. That's the MSRP of the Galaxy S20 5G, for example, but even two minutes of shopping around will...
