Oppo announced the Reno4 and Reno4 Pro earlier last month in China and the company is rumored to bring the Pro version to India soon. The Chinese phone maker hasn't revealed the launch date of the Reno4 Pro in India yet, but the latest report claims the smartphone will debut in the week starting July 20. It's unclear if the Reno4 will also tag along with the Pro version and if the Indian units will retain the specs of their Chinese counterparts or come with different specs. Samsung Galaxy Note20+ goes through FCC, poses for live photos

The latest news about the Samsung Galaxy Note20 shows a Black Galaxy Note20 captured in live images by Samsung leaker @JimmyIsPromo. The images come just a few days after Samsung accidentally posted renders of the Note20 on its own website. The phone shot was a plain black model with a glossy finish. We are expecting other colors to come with a matte finish – akin to the one on some of the Samsung Galaxy S20 models. Facebook Messenger shows early signs of cross-chat support with WhatsApp

We know that Facebook eventually plans to integrate WhatsApp into Facebook’s other apps. As reported by WABetaInfo, reverse engineer @Alex193a has discovered evidence of this in the latest version of Facebook Messenger. The list below shows the mentions of “whats_app” references. This could be a pre-cursor to the long process that it will be to integrate Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp users. The main difference between both messaging platforms is that WhatsApp stores chat information on-device in addition to end-to-end encryption (along with the ad-free experience). This is why WhatsApp...

Huawei Mate V might be on the way, folding inwards

Huawei and Samsung have so far diverged on what the best design would be for a phone that can turn into a tablet through the magic of folding screens. While Samsung's Galaxy Fold folds inwards, Huawei's Mate X and Mate Xs both fold outwards. While Samsung has been rumored to stick with its previous design for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 2, and improve upon the formula, Huawei may just give up on its unique path and actually join Samsung in the inward-folding realm for the next device. This has been referred to in rumors as Mate X2, but Huawei has recently filed for a new trademark in...

Google's Pixels and Samsung's S20 family get July security patches

It may not be July 1st, but today is the first Monday of the month, and that means one thing: Google is ready to send out a new batch of monthly security patches to its still supported Pixels. This time around there's no feature drop like last month, so all you're getting are security fixes - but hey, those are important too, so your phone isn't exposed to nasty vulnerabilities. As usual with Google rollouts, it may be a few days (or even weeks) before all supported Pixel units out there get the update, but it is finally on the way. The build number for all devices is...

Alleged renders of Google Pixel 5 leak, reminiscent of Pixel 4

Welcome to what could very well be the first look at the Google Pixel 5. The renders below are based off of CAD schematics and show what Google's upcoming compact Pixel 5 could look like. From the rear the Pixel 5 looks very much like the Google Pixel 4 with a dual camera setup, however the Pixel 5 also has a capacitive fingerprint scanner - something the Pixel 4 dropped in favor of face recognition. The front of the Pixel 5 features a single selfie camera, embedded into the display via a punch hole. Based on the CAD data, the Pixel 5 will measure 144.6x70.4x8mm - slightly shorter...

Samsung Galaxy Fold successor to be called Z Fold 2

According to rumors, Samsung will introduce at least four phones at its Unpacked event on August 5. We’re expecting the Note20 duo, Galaxy Z Flip 5G and the successor to the Galaxy Fold. Galaxy Z Fold 2 design renders This name change would unite the upcoming foldable with the brand’s other folding phones - the Z Flip under one series. Samsung has been clear with this intent as it was confirmed by a company spokesperson in an interview from earlier this year. According to the representative, the Z series...

Versatile Video Codec (H.266) finalized, will produce 50% smaller files than HEVC (H.265)

After several years of research, Fraunhofer HHI has announced that the Versatile Video Codec (H.266/VVC) standard has been finilized. This was done with the help of several high profile partners: Apple, Ericsson, Intel, Huawei, Microsoft, Qualcomm and Sony. H.266 promises to cut file sizes in half (same for bandwidth requirements for streaming) while maintaining the same visual quality as H.265/HEVC. That’s a massive improvement – keep in mind that something like 80% of all Internet traffic is streaming video. The new codec can handle anything from SD to 8K as well as 360° videos, all...

Moto G 5G Plus passes through Geekbench a day before its official announcement

Motorola has an event scheduled for tomorrow, which will focus on the Moto G 5G and Moto G 5G Plus. The latter was just certified by the FCC and it did a test run on Geekbench. The Moto G 5G Plus seems like it will settle for the Snapdragon 690, Qualcomm’s first 5G chipset in the 600 series (assuming we’ve decoded the “nairo” code name correctly). It's the most affordable 5G Snapdragon yet, which makes sense given that the G-phones are mid-rangers. Moto G 5G Plus at Geekbench The phone packs 4GB of RAM and ran Android 10 for the test. If it does use the Snapdragon 690, it will...

In a post on its official Instagram account for the Nord, OnePlus has revealed the retail box of the son-to-be-official device. It's a black box with a cyan accents. French government decides against banning Huawei, but recommends avoiding it

The United States banned its companies from using Huawei equipment, but it's struggling to make its allies follow suit. Following the United Kingdom that allowed “high-risk companies” to provide equipment, now France said it will not put a total ban on the Chinese telecommunications manufacturers. Guillaume Poupard, head of French cybersecurity agency ANSSI, revealed to the local newspaper Les Echos that they are inciting operators not currently using Huawei to stick to the status quo, while ones that are already with the Chinese giant will receive temporary authorizations. 5G...

The leakster suggests that the device is the Honor Magic 3, because the image of the device was taken with an Honor Magic 2. We haven't heard anything regarding an Honor Magic 3, which casts some doubt over that. Honor recently...
