Starting in September, South Africa and New Zealand won’t be able to stream music through the Google Play Music app, and the same change will apply to all other global...

Samsung foldable wireless charger leaks

Even a day before Samsung's big event, leaks don't show signs of slowing down. This one is about a foldable wireless charger and the images come from a reputable leakster @rquandt. The charger in black The charger has a model number EP-N3300 and it can lay down or stand up. The kickstand doesn't look adjustable, though. Nothing too special regarding charging speeds, either, as the report says 9W. The charger in white The charger comes in black and white and the box says it can be used with other, non-Samsung devices, namely Apple. But since most phones...

Our Xiaomi Redmi 9 (Prime) video review is up

Xiaomi's vast popularity was built on its Redmi roster of smartphones and their amazing value for money proposition. The Redmi 9, available globally, follows the same winning pattern. Its price currently hovers around €110-€130 for the lowest storage variant of 3GB/32GB. Xiaomi has also unveiled the Redmi 9 Prime in India, which is essentially the same phone. It starts at INR9,999, which equals the same price as the international model but it's for the higher storage config of 6GB/64GB. We already did our detailed written review and now Angie took it for a spin on our YouTube...

Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra LTE stops by Geekbench

Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra appeared on Geekbench last week with a model number SM-N986B - the phone had Exynos 990 chipset and recorded some fairly impressive results. Today a new device, said to be the LTE version of the Note20 Ultra and with a model number SM-N985F, scored fewer points both on the single-core and multi-core tests, suggesting either underclocked chipset or, more likely, a less than optimal state of its software. The SM-N985F appears with 8GB RAM, while the SM-N986B apparently had 12 gigs, but Geekbench does not reflect memory speeds. We also see some other...

Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro Plus to come with 4,500 mAh dual-cell battery

Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro Plus popped up on our radar only recently so information about the phone is pretty scarce. And the first solid leak comes from the German TUV Rheinland certification body, which has tested its battery. According to the listing, TUV has certified a Xiaomi phone with a 4,500 mAh battery, which is split into two main cells, each accounting for 2,250 mAh. Why is that? An educated guess would be fast charging. Most of the fast charging solutions on the market require the battery to be split at least in half to handle the ultra-fast charging speeds. This coincides with...

Samsung Galaxy Note20 and Note20 Ultra Following the footsteps of the Galaxy S20 family from earlier this year, the Note lineup...

The Pixel 4a fabric cases are made from recycled materials, they are machine washable to boot

Last year Google committed to making its hardware business sustainable. By 2022 all of “Made by Google” products will incorporate some recycled materials. That’s still two years away, so baby steps for now. The official fabric cases for the Pixel 4a are made out of 70% recycled materials (PET and polycarbonate). Much of that comes from recycled plastic bottles – two bottles can be converted into enough fabric for five cases. This is the same fabric that is used on the new Nest Mini smart speakers, by the way. These cases are made to be durable too. The fabric is knitted in a...

Google explains how the Live HDR+ feature on the Pixel 4 and 4a works

The new Pixel 4a supports Live HDR+ and Dual Exposure, features first introduced with the Pixel 4 (note that these won’t be backported to older devices). The tech giant published a detailed blog post explaining how the two features work. First, what is Live HDR+? It shows a real time preview of what the final HDR+ photo will look like. Note that this is just a preview derived using a different algorithm. The real HDR+ takes 3-15 underexposed photos (to reduce noise), aligns them and merges them. After the merge, tone mapping is applied to produce the final photo where details in...

Samsung Galaxy M51 appears on FCC with 25W charging

Samsung is about to launch its new Galaxy M series top dog dubbed Galaxy M51. The device was certified at FCC, with the listing confirming 25W fast-charging - 9V at 2.77A. Samsung SM-M515F on FCC This isn’t the first time we hear about the Galaxy M51 - last month a leak suggested this is the actual name of the Galaxy M40 successor instead of Galaxy M41. The phone carries a model number SM-M515F, which adds to the confirmation that Samsung is moving it to an upper echelon. While specs are not yet known, earlier rumors suggested a Snapdragon 730 chipset, 8GB RAM and Android 10....

Realme RMX2170 (X3 Pro) certified with 65W charging, dual cell battery

A Realme phone, RMX2170, has been given the stamp of approval by TUV Rheinland, which tested the 65W fast charger for safety (it outputs outputs 6.5A at 10V). The phone has a two cell battery with 2,200 mAh rated capacity per cell (so 4,400 mAh total). This phone may be the Realme X3 Pro, though other models have been misidentified as the X3 Pro, previously, so it's not entirely certain. TÜV Rheinland's certification of the RMX2170, perhaps the Realme X3 Pro The RMX2170 was recently certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance as well with Android 10. It only supported Wi-Fi 5 (ac) while...

Check out the new Galaxy Unpacked teaser, revealing even more of the incoming devices

Tomorrow is August 5, meaning we’re finally going to see an unveiling of latest Samsung devices during the company's second Unpacked event for the year. Last week we saw the first teaser for the new products, and today the Korean company gave us another sneak peek. There’s a smartphone with a rectangular camera setup, revealing at least three cameras, lined up vertically, and that’s clearly the Galaxy Note20 lineup. Then we see an outline of the Galaxy Fold 2, the case of the Galaxy Buds Live opening up like a ring box, a glimpse of the Galaxy Watch 3. The event will take place in...

Xiaomi Mi A4 not coming as Android One program gets the axe

We have some bad news for stock Android lovers as Xiaomi is leaving the Android One program behind. Its Mi A-series has gained popularity mostly in the western market by offering clean Android experience at the customary for the company aggressive prices. Anyone looking for the vanilla Android was bound to stumble upon one of Xiaomi's A series. However, the company has officially confirmed that it will no longer release handsets running Android One, which in turn means that there won't be Mi A4. There's no specific reason for the discontinuation of the lineup but our educated guess...

Huawei Mate 40 Pro renders also arrive, reveal dual punch hole display

Huawei Mate 40 Pro is coming with a curved screen, as a leaked screen protector revealed yesterday. However, it didn’t have any cutouts for cameras and we spiraled into all kinds of interpretations, including an under-display solution. Early 3D renders of the phone actually revealed a dual front camera in a pill-shaped punch hole, which looks a lot like the Huawei P40 Pro's design. There are also at least two sensors on top - one is an IR blaster, but the other’s purpose is still undecided. The Huawei Mate 40 Pro is going to stick with the circular camera design on the back, housing...

It boots Android 10 out of the box and has two storage options - 128GB and 256GB. Around the back, we get a quad camera setup aligned vertically in the upper-left corner. It's a combination of a 48MP primary, 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor...

Canalys: Tablet market rises 26% following as demand for bigger screens surges

The COVID-19 pandemic pushed a lot of people into confinement in their own homes, leading to a surge in demand for home entertainment solutions. PC and laptop manufacturers recorded massive growth in sales and shipments in the past few months, and the tablet market surged as well. According to a report by Canalys, the otherwise unimpressive tablet market grew 26% on a yearly basis and all of the top five manufacturers recorded an increase in shipments as during Q2 2020.
