The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 10.5 that debuted last August with Android 8.1 Oreo is now receiving the Android Pie update. It brings in features like App Actions and Slices to this slate along with Samsung's latest custom skin - One UI. This update also bumps up the Android security patch level on the Galaxy Tab S4 10.5 to March 1, 2019 instead of the latest April patch. Apart from that, it brings Digital Wellbeing and Dark Mode in Settings. The Galaxy Tab S4 10.5 is...

Huawei MateBook E 2019 is a connected PC with a Snapdragon 850 and Windows 10

Huawei quietly announced a new MateBook laptop at an ongoing conference in Shanghai. This one is the 2019 MateBook E - which is a 2-in-1 convertible laptop running Windows 10. But the biggest difference with the model this year is it no longer relies on an Intel processor, but makes use of the Snapdragon 850 CPU - essentially an overclocked Snapdragon 845 intended for use in machines running Windows 10. The following video and hands-on photos were published by NotebookItalia. The machine is somewhere between an iPad Pro and a Microsoft Surface. It has a built-in kickstand to prop...

In an ongoing proposal for Google and Huawei to make a settlement could pay out affected Huawei Nexus 6P owners up to $400 as the resulting settlement nears for the class-action lawsuit first filed for the devices stuck in bootloops or with battery issues which date back to 2017. The settlement is awaiting final approval by the court, but it proposes that both Google and Huawei would be liable for a $9.75 million settlement for a lawsuit first filed in April of 2017. The proposed settlement cites that some affected users could be compensated up to $400 with proper documentation of the...

New HTC mid-ranger stops by Geekbench with Snapdragon 710, 6GB of RAM

Last December HTC told us that it would focus on flagship and mid-range smartphones this year, and today a new device from the Taiwanese company has showed up on Geekbench confirming that. The phone has the model number 2Q7A100, and it's powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 710. That's a good upper-midrange chipset, but the Snapdragon 730 has become official very recently. And since this HTC handset hasn't leaked at all so far, we assume it's not close to launch, so using what is, for all intents and purposes, the Snapdragon 710's successor would have been nicer to see. Still, it is...

Samsung shares US availability details for the Galaxy Fold and Galaxy S10 5G

If you thought having $1,980 readily available to spend on a smartphone was all you needed in order to be among the first people in the US to own a Samsung Galaxy Fold, well, you need to think again. The Korean company seems intent on reinventing yet another aspect of the mobile experience with this launch: pre-orders. And it's done so in the most convoluted way possible. Samsung Galaxy Fold So, here's what you need to do to "pre-order" a Galaxy Fold in the US: 1. Go to this website and sign up with your details 2. Wait. Starting tomorrow, Samsung will at some point send you an...

Samsung Galaxy J6 also gets Android 9.0 Pie

After its bigger brother Galaxy J8 got Android Pie a few days ago, now Samsung Galaxy J6 is also treated to the OTA update complete with Samsung's new One UI. The update bearing the J600FNXXU3BSD1 name appeared first in Italy and comes in at just over 1.2GB size. Unfortunately, the security patch is stuck on March, unlike the Galaxy J8 which brought April's version. Despite this shortcoming, you still get to enjoy the latest Samsung experience on your Galaxy J6 complete with the overhauled design, dark mode, new navigation buttons, and all the other One UI goodies. The update is...

The Huawei Mate X will be available on Three UK

UK carrier Three has confirmed that it will offer the Huawei Mate X in the second half of this year. The exact date is still unknown, but the price will be around €2,300 (so £1,900-2,000). The Mate X is a two-in-one phone, it's Huawei's first foldable handset as well as its first 5G phone. The latter part obviously depends on having access to a 5G network, Three is working on it. Rival EE has exclusivity on the LG V50 ThinQ 5G and will also offer (non-exclusively) the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G. OnePlus' yet to be announced 5G phone will also be on EE. While you wait, you can check...

YouTube adds Huawei P30, P30 Pro and Honor View20 to its list of Signature Devices

YouTube has added three more phones to its Signature Devices list, the Huawei P30, P30 Pro and the Honor View20. The YouTube Signature Devices is a list of devices that support all of YouTube's features. This includes HDR, 360-degree video, 4K decoding, high frame rate, Google's VP9 profile 2 decoding and DRM support. Currently, the list includes a range of devices - all flagship as you'd expect, from manufacturers ranging from Samsung, Huawei, and LG to OnePlus, Xiaomi, Nokia, Sony and Google's own Pixel devices. Hilariously enough, when I tried playing some of the...

Early Samsung Galaxy S10 5G units face connectivity issues

After its initial launch in South Korea last week, it seems that the first commercially available 5G phone - Samsung's Galaxy S10 5G is facing network issues. Early adopters are reporting lower than expected speeds, limited coverage, and trouble in switching between LTE and 5G. Some owners say their units don't connect to 4G networks even after restart. Supposedly, in areas where 5G connectivity was not available the phone would remain out of any network coverage, including 4G signal. Connection issues are reported on all three Korean carriers that offer the new generation service....

You can use your Android phone as a security key

If you have an Android phone with Android 7.0 and newer, you can turn your smartphone into a physical security key. A security key is a way of verifying that you, and not someone else, is trying to sign into your account. There are various methods to secure yourself online - with a code sent by SMS or email and even with Google's popular 2 Step Verification, where you set up the authenticator app, which generates a code every 30s. There are also physical security keys, such as Google's own Titan security key. Well now you can turn your smartphone into such a key. You need to be running...

Upcoming Redmi flagship stars in hands-on video with punch-hole display, triple rear cameras

We've been hearing of a Snapdragon 855-powered Redmi flagship since early February and recently even the compnay's GM confirmed its existence. Now, said device has allegedly appeared in a hands-on video revealing its design. This video shows the front and back side of the Redmi flagship. On the front, it has a punch-hole display, but this one's a bit different from what we have seen on other smartphones like the Honor View 20 and the Samsung Galaxy S10 lineup. Instead of having the hole in the left or right corner, this Redmi smartphone has it in the center which looks a bit weird....

The death of iTunes? Apple to break it down in next macOS update

More than 18 years after its launch and the revolution it brought in the music industry, iTunes might cease to exist as we know it. According to new reports, Apple is working on stand-alone TV, Music, and Podcasts apps with its new universal app framework - Marzipan. The move would allow iOS designed apps to be seamlessly ported on Macs, saving developers time and resources in optimization work. Sources close to the development process of the upcoming macOS 10.15 have confirmed the addition of new Music, Podcasts and TV apps. Judging solely by the design, the leaked Podcasts and...

AnTuTu tests Snapdragon 730 and 665, has good and bad news

Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon 665 and 730 to bolster its mid-range lineup, but how do they compare to the existing models - 660, 670, 675 and 710? The Snapdragon 730 is significantly faster than the 710, offering up to 25% extra performance. The 730G version - binned 730 chips that can run at higher speeds - is about 5% faster than the non-G version. We suspect that the G chips will be rare, but we won't be missing much in terms of performance. This is surprising since based on data from AnTuTu, the Snapdragon 730G GPU runs at significantly higher clockspeed - 825MHz vs. 700MHz. The...

Realme 3 Pro shown off by brand's CEO, running Fortnite at 60fps

After posting photos from the Realme 3 Pro, brand CEO Madhav Sheth shared an image of the device running Fortnite. His tweet hints at a faster chipset. He commented that other so-called "Pro" devices can't run the game simultaneously, unlike the upcoming Realme model. It's not quite clear what he means, but he may be alluding to the new 60fps mode that was Epic Games enabled earlier this year (which was initially limited to flagship phones). Realme 3 Pro in the hands of the brand's CEO You can see a "not supported" error on the phone on the left, whose identity is just barely...

Asus ZenFone Max Pro (M2) now receiving Android Pie update

Asus started rolling out the Android Pie update for the ZenFone Max Pro (M1) and Max (M2) yesterday. Now, it's time for the ZenFone Max Pro (M2) to get the latest version of Android. Just like the ZenFone Max Pro (M1) and Max (M2), the update for ZenFone Max Pro (M2) is also currently seeding only in India, and there's no word on when these smartphones would get the Android Pie goodness in other regions. That said, the Android Pie update for ZenFone Max Pro (M2) is rolling out over-the-air and could take a week or two to reach all the units in the country. It carries version number...

Samsung Galaxy A80 visits AnTuTu, shows what the Snapdragon 730 is capable of

In addition to bringing the swiveling/rotating camera design, the Samsung Galaxy A80 is also the first device to feature the Snapdragon 730. The newest member of the A series made its way on AnTuTu to show what the new internals are capable of. With its Snapdragon 730 and Adreno 618 combo, the device managed to push out a score of 207,082 which is comparable to the Snapdragon 835 and Kirin 970. While not quite as fast as the current top dogs - the real advantage of the Galaxy A80's chipset should come in its power efficiency thanks to the new 8nm process. The Snapdragon 730 features...

Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL case images show large bezels and headphone jack

Last week, we saw the Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL appear on Google Play Console with a few of their specifications. Today, we are looking at the case renders of these smartphones which show us what these mid-range Pixels will look like. If these images are to be believed, the Pixel 3a and 3a XL will share the same design. They will come with large bezels, have a single camera on the front and back, a headphone jack (yay!) at the top, plus a USB-C port at the bottom. Google Pixel 3a case renders These smartphones will have the volume rocker and power button on their...

Sharp demoes vertically foldable 6.2-inch phone

Last month we saw a patent by Sharp about a vertically folding phone. Today we are treated to an early prototype by the company and the device looks every bit as interesting as the sketches that depicted it. The folding phone is said to feature a 6.18" 1440 x 3040 AMOLED panel with a fairly large notch, which folds inward right in the middle. Sharp claims that the device is capable of withstanding 300,000 folding cycles so long-term durability should not be an issue. A brand official believes there will be high demand for such a device as it would excel in the portability...

Realme 3 Pro coming on April 22

Oppo spin-off Realme introduced the Realme 3 last month, and after the announcement, the company confirmed that it would launch a Pro variant of this smartphone in April. It has been teasing the Realme 3 Pro for the past few days, and now an invite allegedly provided by the company's Indian CEO reveals its launch date - April 22. The invite doesn't say anything about the Realme 3 Pro, and only has the "Speed Awakens" tagline. The smartphone will be launched at an event in Delhi University Stadium in India which hints that the target audience would be young users, especially college...
