Unknown HTC device appears in GeekBench with MediaTek CPU and 6GB RAM

Back in December, HTC announced that it was going to change up its smartphone strategy for 2019. Part of that strategy is extending the life-cycle of the HTC U12+ and U12 Life. It also vowed to focus on flagship and midrange smartphones for this year. A new listing appeared on GeekBench for an unknown HTC device running a MediaTek Helio P35 paired with 6GB RAM. The device has a model number HTC 2Q741 and runs Android 9 Pie. We wonder if this could be an upcoming mid-range smartphone from HTC. It could perhaps even be a MediaTek variant of the same smartphone that was spotted on...

OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro won't have an IP rating for water and dust resistance because it's expensive

OnePlus is continuing its relentless teaser campaign for its soon to be launched OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro smartphones, and today's installment is... odd. The company has done its fair share of irreverent marketing in the past, but this is something else. So, you may be aware that one of the features that is found in practically all of the more expensive competitors to OnePlus devices is an IP rating for water and dust resistance. However, the company has so far resisted adding it to its phones. And that is not changing with the OnePlus 7 series, as you can see from the video...

Sprint will sell Google's Pixel 3 XL soon

Google's Pixels have only been sold directly by one of the 'big four' US carriers for years - we mean Verizon. But now the strategy seems to be ready to change. Last month there were mumblings about T-Mobile soon starting sales of the Pixel 3 and 3 XL, as well as the yet-unannounced Pixel 3a and 3a XL. And today a purported leak of an internal document from a Sprint store somewhere in the US clearly shows that it will get a retail display fixture at some point in the future, for the Pixel 3 XL. And why have a retail display if you aren't going to sell the phone it shows? Exactly....

Nokia 9 PureView Indian launch seems imminent

The Nokia 9 PureView was announced back at MWC in February and ever since then it's been a long wait for Indian fans wanting to get their hands on one. That may all change very soon, however. The Nokia 9 PureView, specifically the version with the model number TA-1087, has now been certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), which is a prerequisite step for starting sales in the country. This means the launch of the Nokia 9 in the subcontinent could very well be imminent. In fact, HMD Global has been teasing its flagship's arrival in India since March, so it's high time this...

LG G8 ThinQ gets tortured in video durability test

The LG G8 ThinQ was unveiled back in February at MWC, to much less fanfare than its Korean rival Samsung's flagships. Despite the lack of hype, before and after release, it's still a pretty interesting handset nevertheless. But the most important question is undoubtedly: how well can it survive a torture test? As always, we turn to Zack from YouTube channel JerryRigEverything to answer that question for us in video form. Like all of these durability tests, he starts out by scratching the phone, then goes on to burn its screen, and finally tries to bend it. Spoiler alert: the G8's...

Early Mate 30 Pro specs - 6.7-inch screen, Kirin 985, 55W charging

Welcome to the first early look at the Huawei Mate 30 Pro. We emphasize the word early and suggest you take these specs with a healthy dose of skepticism. According to claimed insider sources the Huawei Mate 30 Pro will boast a number of improvements over the Mate 20 Pro and the P30 Pro. Starting with the screen, the Mate 30 Pro will use a BOE-made 6.71-inch AMOLED with a built-in fingerprint scanner. On the inside the Mate 30 Pro will use a 7nm Kirin 985 SoC with the Balong 5000 5G modem (though there will likely be a 4G variant of the Mate 30 Pro as well). The cameras on the rear...

The unveil will see the Honor 20 Lite (already unveiled in China as the Honor 20i), the Honor 20 and the Honor 20 Pro (and possibly an Honor 20 Moschino Edition too). We've been seeing a lot of Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro leaks of late. A few renders of the upcoming colors of the two phones - in Blue, White and in Black - shared with us the design of the rear. The render of the Black model seemingly suggested that the Honor 20 Pro will have a periscope 5x optical zoom camera while the Honor 20 will rely on a...
