Realme launching eight new products on May 25, CMO teases new smartphone

Realme just unveiled two new Narzo series smartphones, dubbed Narzo 10 and Narzo 10A. Now the company plans to follow that up with the launch of eight new products on May 25 in China. The launch event will be streamed online starting at 2PM local time (6AM UTC). Realme doesn't explicitly mention what exactly it's going to unveil on May 25 but the poster shared by the Chinese phone maker on Weibo includes a smartphone, a power bank and a truly wireless earbud. The white-colored Chinese text in the image translates to "Broken Dimension Dare To Play", which could be a hint that the...

Samsung offers a closer look at how the brushes help keep dust out of the hinge

On early Wednesday, Samsung released a piece that looks deeper into the Galaxy Z Flip's Hideaway Hinge. This is the second of two parts (so far) where Samsung explains how bristles are used in the hinge to keep foreign debris out of the hinge assembly. Between the hinge's bumper and the two halves of the phone is a very narrow gap of about 1mm. The Samsung Galaxy Fold saw drastic failure to the display whenever dust or debris managed to lodge itself into the hinge, which is why Samsung put those plastic stoppers at the two ends along the folding part for the redesigned Fold. This alone,...

Nest Aware rolls out for $6 per month, Nest Home now permanently $89

Google is announcing that an updated pricing structure for Nest Aware plans is now rolling out in 19 markets. Starting Tuesday, Nest customers will only need to pay $6/month to view all devices and cameras in a single household - so there is no longer need to pay more if you have more cameras. By contrast, Amazon's Ring charges $3 per camera, per month, or $10 per month for an unlimited number of cameras. Keep in mind that both Nest and Ring products work without a subscription. Doorbells, for instance, can send alerts to a smartphone app in real-time, and with two-way audio communication....

Motorola switches its stance and promises two major Android OS updates for Edge+

Motorola's Edge+ is the company's first smartphone flagship since the MotoMod-clad Moto Z series. This flagship, a Verizon-exclusive with a $1000 price tag, is set to release on May 14 on the US carrier and when initially launched, Motorola was only able to promise a single major OS update (Android 11) which was met with criticism and disappointment. Motorola changed its stance and now promises "at least two Android OS updates" for the Edge+, in a brief statement to Droid Life. Motorola Edge+ Android phones tend to have relatively shorter product cycles compared to iPhones,...

Samsung Galaxy Note20's display to be capped at 60Hz refresh rate, only Note20+ gets 120Hz

Yesterday a rumor told us that both the upcoming Galaxy Note20 and the Note20+ would feature screens with 120Hz refresh rate, which makes sense considering that's also a feature of the S20 line. However, today the same source has come back with some new information, and it's not good for fans of cheaper Samsung flagships and high refresh rate panels. According to the same Ross Young, founder and CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, the Note20 will miss out on the high refresh rate train, coming with a display that will only be capable of refreshing 60 times per second. The Note20+, on...

Realme X3, X3 SuperZoom and Realme TV appear on official support page

The Realme X3, X3 SuperZoom and Realme TV are all products that have been confirmed to exist one way or another so the latest news about those three is more of a sign that they will launch pretty soon. All three devices appeared on Realme's official support page but have since been removed. About a month ago, the remote control for Realme's smart TV stopped by Bluetooth SIG, while the Realme X3 SuperZoom was recently teased by the company's CEO. The X3 lineup will likely be a hardware refresh with enhanced camera capabilities, hence the SuperZoom name. We won't be surprised if...

The Nokia 9.3 PureView will record 8K video and have exclusive ZEISS effects

HMD is taking the time to get the Nokia 9.3 PureView right and a lot of effort is going into the camera. We already heard that it will use a 108MP sensor, now sources are claiming that the camera may record 8K video at 30fps, reports Nokia Power User. This is only if the engineers are happy with the results, of course, so they are reportedly hard at work, trying to finalize the image processing algorithms. Part of what makes 8K possible in the first place is the Snapdragon 865 chipset, which replaced the S855 that the phone was going to use initially (this phone has been delayed several...

5,000mAh battery for the Redmi 9 confirmed by FCC docs

The Redmi 9 - M2004J19G - has surfaced again, this time it was the FCC that released certification data and along with it some salient details about the upcoming phone. It will launch with MIUI 11, if that was ever in question, which likely means Android 10 out of the box. The phone will be powered by a 5,000mAh battery. Unfortunately, there's no info on the charger - there was some speculation that it will be 10W, a downgrade from the 18W charger the previous model used. Some may not like it, but the new Redmi 9 will be larger than its predecessor - the dimensions seem to confirm...

Instagram Lite taken down, is coming back eventually

Nearly two years after its initial launch, Instagram Lite is no longer supported and has vanished from the Google Play store. The app was live in 13 markets and offered the basic utility of the full Instagram app in a much smaller package of just 573 kB (kilobytes), more than 50 times smaller than the full-fledged Instagram app. Some notable omissions in the Lite version were the lack of direct messaging and IGTV videos. Instagram Lite screenshots Users who have the Lite version of Instagram are now prompted to download the official Instagram app. Not all hope is lost...

The update brings the Bixby assistant, you can ask it questions or tell it to perform certain actions (e.g. start an exercise or control Spotify). The Poco F1 was a rare beast, an actual example of a "flagship killer". Now, almost two years later it is finally time for a sequel, after the detour named Poco X2 - a mid-ranger that was based on the Redmi K30. Actually, it seems it was a change in course rather than a detour as the new model is essentially a rebadged Redmi K30 Pro. The Poco F2 Pro does bring a long list of improvements compared to the F1, starting with the latest chipset. The Snapdragon 865 is the best chip from Qualcomm yet and one of the first to feature updatable GPU drivers, which might improve the phone's...

Snapdragon 865 phones dominate AnTuTu April chart, Mi 10 Pro on top

The benchmarking platform AnTuTu has released its monthly charts for best-performing smartphones, and this time Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro rises to the top. The phone is ahead of the OnePlus 8 Pro and the vanilla Mi 10, all of which are powered by the Snapdragon 865. Interestingly enough, there are zero phones from the Huawei ecosystem as the six-months old Kirin 990 is edged by the newer competitors. Four members of the Samsung Galaxy S20 family make the top 10, with the Asus ROG Phone 2 inbetween. The Top 10 is completed by the 2019 devices OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7 Pro, but the current...

Moto One Vision Plus and Moto E7 pop up on Google Play Console

Motorola is working on a "plus" version of the Moto One Vision, a modification that surfaced on the Google Play Console. It will be joined by the first of a new generation E-series phones as the Console also revealed the Moto E7. The Moto One Vision Plus will drop the punch hole in favor of a teardrop notch for its selfie camera. The screen panel stays at 6.3" and (we're guessing) 1080p+ resolution, same as the original. So, what's "plus" about this phone? It's not the memory, this one will come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The original had 128GB storage. Also, the Plus model...
