Last month we heard Lenovo is dropping plenty of its Moto series, but the G line will stay with a fourth powerful addition to the family. Today the Moto G7 Power appeared in certification listings in Thailand with the model number XT1955-4. The model appeared on FCC as well, revealing some key specs. The diagonal of the phone will be 167 mm, or around 6.45", but the actual screen will likely be around 6.2". It will have one main camera with an LED flash. The Moto G7 Power will have at least four variants for different markets - XT1955-1 for Brazil with Dual SIM, XT1955-2 for...

Carefully worded, he said that the iPhone XR "has been our most popular iPhone each and every day since the day it became available." DJI Osmo Pocket is a $349 tiny three-axis stabilized camera

DJI's latest product isn't a drone, but that doesn't mean it's not interesting. The Osmo Pocket is a small camera that's three-axis stabilized by its own gimbal. It shoots 4K60 video at 100Mbps with its 1/2.3" 12 MP sensor that has 1.55μm pixels, f/2.0 aperture, and an 80-degree field-of-view. The Osmo Pocket has dual mics, as well as an 875 mAh battery that should last up to 140 minutes and charges from 0 to 100% in 73 minutes. The Osmo Pocket has a sandstone finish non-slip and sweat-proof handle, and a built-in 1" touchscreen paired with buttons for a single-handed user...

Xiaomi Redmi 4 and Redmi 4A receive MIUI 10 stable Global ROM

Xiaomi has started sending out the updates to MIUI 10 for the Redmi 4 and Redmi 4A today. We're talking about the international models, as this is a stable Global ROM, and not a China-only affair. The Redmi 4 was released in May of 2017, while the 4A is even older, from two years ago. As usual, Xiaomi is great in supporting its previous smartphones with the latest versions of its UI overlay. Xiaomi Redmi 4 Unfortunately, and also as usual, the underlying Android versions aren't being updated. It's still Android 7.1.2 Nougat under the nice new MIUI 10 paint job. Additionally, the...

Project Fi officially rebrands to Google Fi, finally supports iPhones and most Android devices

The prematurely posted report from yesterday was right: Google has indeed rebranded its Project Fi carrier into Google Fi. To further mark its exit from beta status, it's also announced that the network finally supports iPhones and most Android devices. There's a huge catch, however. While you can bring your own phone to Fi, in order to benefit from the full functionality of the service you still need to use one of only a few Android handsets that the carrier is offering directly (or has in the past). This means that the smart network switching between T-Mobile, Sprint, US Cellular,...

Qualcomm's next high-end chip won't be called Snapdragon 8150, new rumor says

Qualcomm is announcing its next top of the line mobile chipset at the Snapdragon Technology Summit which is taking place from December 4 to December 6. The three-day extravaganza is sure to focus a lot on 5G, with many announcements from carriers, phone makers, and laptop manufacturers expected. So far we've been operating on the theory that Qualcomm is ready to reshuffle its naming scheme for mobile SoCs once more - first we got S1/S2/S3/S4 and then the company jumped to the current 200/400/600/700/800 naming scheme, but a new chipset has shown up in benchmarks identifying as...

Nokia 8.1's extensive leak confirms it's the X7 global version

This is a big one. An unexpected leak just confirmed what we've suspected all along - the upcoming Nokia 8.1 powered by the Snapdragon 710 chipset is indeed the codenamed Phoenix smartphone we've been hearing about. And as it turns out, it's actually the international version of the recently released Nokia X7. Nokia 8.1 front and back It's all in the leaked press materials explicitly saying "Phoenix" more than one time and at first glance, the hardware is identical to the Chinese Nokia X7. The leak comes just in time to clear the confusion before the December 5 event in Dubai. We...

Mystery phone features triple camera and dual screen, may be vivo NEX S2

The vivo NEX S was one of the most striking phones to launch this year, but its sequel may already be close. An unboxing video of a "mystery smartphone" shows a few unique design elements and the rumor mill believes that this is the NEX S2. The first is called the "Lunar Ring", which appears to be a colorful RGB LED ring around the camera. While it's much more advanced than your typical LED notification light, it still pales in comparison with the second feature. A second screen. That's right, the NEX S2 will have dual displays, similar to the nubia X. Unfortunately, the rear display...

Huawei nova 4 render shows a hole in the screen for the selfie camera

Huawei wants to release the first phone with a screen hole, beating Samsung to the finish line. That phone may be the Huawei nova 4, renders of which just hit the net. Huawei nova 4 render (by @VenyaGeskin1) The design of the back is pretty much a P20 Pro. The front features screen with a hole for the selfie camera in the top left corner. This matches the official teaser and the disguised device that was spotted in the wild. Huawei even live streamed a demo of a prototype device with such a screen hole, which served as the basis of this render. Admittedly, the presenters were...

Samsung will dual source Galaxy S10's ultrasonic fingerprint reader

Industry insiders are confirming earlier reports that GIS and O-film will both be producing ultrasonic in-display fingerprint readers for the Galaxy S10. The two are partnering with Qualcomm to develop the sensors. Both firms are expected to start cranking out readers for the S10 in January, preceding the flagship's unveiling in February and its launch not long after that. Taiwan's GIS has higher yield rates, O-film has a high capacity and asks a lower price. That's what the high-end versions of the Galaxy S10 have to look forward to, the base S10 (with a flat screen) is expected to...

HMD Global promised to upgrade the Nokia 8 to the latest Android version, 9.0 Pie, before the end of 2018 and we now see the first piece of evidence that the OTA update is just around the corner. It comes in the form of a Geekbench listing. As you can see, the listing says that the 4GB RAM version Nokia 8 runs on Android 9.0 Pie, which in turn means that the company is already testing the handset with the new software version. We hope it will come sooner because Juho Sarvikas promised cool new features coming along. Those include ARCore support, new UI revamp, navigation gestures...

New Zealand rejects usage of Huawei 5G equipment over security concerns

Three months after being banned from developing 5G networks in Australia, Huawei received a new blow, this time from New Zealand. The intelligence agency of the Pacific country denied Spark from using the already set 5G equipment, citing concerns about national security. Spark is one of the major carriers in New Zealand and the first to file a request to start using the next-gen connectivity. General Andrew Hampton, Government Communications Security Bureau Director, said that a significant network security risk was identified. Huawei replied with the Chinese Foreign Ministry...

OnePlus 3/3T gains support for Type-C Bullets with latest update

OnePlus just pushed a minor update for its old OnePlus 3 and 3T smartphones. The OTA update bumps up the OxygenOS version to 5.0.7, squashes some bugs and brings Google's November security patch. However, the most important bit about it is the added support for OnePlus' Type-C Bullets Earphones. Up until now, OnePlus 3 and 3T couldn't output audio through their USB-C connectors. Unfortunately, the changelog doesn't say anything about third-party USB-C headphones, but we assume those are supported too. To test them out, we've plugged in the OnePlus Type-C Bullets into a OnePlus 3...

Gionee faces bankruptcy after failing to pay suppliers

Gionee is on the verge of bankruptcy after owing money to financial institutions, suppliers, and advertising and marketing agencies. The total debt is around CNY17 billion (about $2.45 billion), not without the handy help of its chairman Liu Lirong, who lost CNY1 billion while gambling in a casino. In a meeting between company representatives and suppliers, Gionee reportedly stroke a deal with major suppliers, but nearly 400 smaller companies are yet to hear what will happen with the money they are owed. If restructuring is not a viable option, Gionee will go into...

The Red model is now on sale through Amazon India, priced the same as the other two options - at INR 14,999 (€190). Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite's gradient back is actually transparent

The Mi 8 Lite is Xiaomi's first device to feature a gradient paint job and it uses the so-called nano-sputtering process that also made the Huawei P20 Pro's back gradient. But there's more to it - Mi 8 Lite's back is actually transparent glass, which when placed on a dark surface produces the gradient effect. But how does it pull it off? Xiaomi explains that the designers have gone through quite the hassle to produce the gradient and the key lies within the transparent glass panel. It's subjected to numerous coating layers forming a nano-scale thickness difference on the surface,...
