Oppo K9s will be unveiled on October 20

Oppo launched the K9 5G in May and followed up with a Pro variant last month. We recently learned that the company will add a new member to the lineup dubbed Oppo K9s, which we now know will be unveiled on October 20. The poster shared by Oppo on Weibo confirms the K9s' design. Its rear panel is reminiscent of the K9 Pro's and sports a triple camera system headlined by a 64MP unit. While Oppo hasn't detailed the K9s' specs sheet yet, thanks to Chinese retailer JD.com, we know the smartphone will come with the Snapdragon 778G SoC, 6GB/8GB RAM, 128GB storage, 120Hz screen with 6-level...

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE is now rumored to launch on January 11

Yesterday Samsung surprised everyone by announcing an 'Unpacked part 2' event for October 20, adding its own contribution to what was already shaping up to be a pretty big week in terms of tech announcements - what with Apple and Google also hosting stuff then. One might have assumed that Samsung was planning to finally make the Galaxy S21 FE official, a phone that's been leaked to the moon and back and was rumored to have been delayed multiple times because of the chip shortage. Well, if you were expecting the S21 FE to be the star of next week's show, you'd be wrong, according to...

WhatsApp end-to-end encrypted backups are rolling out on both Android and iOS

Starting today, WhatsApp is adding end-to-end encryption to your cloud backups on both Android and iOS. While WhatsApp itself has been end-to-end encrypted by default for the past five years, until now if you chose to backup your chats to Google Drive (from the Android version of WhatsApp) or iCloud (if you're on iOS), those backups wouldn't be encrypted. Now, however, you can turn on end-to-end encryption for your backups. The way WhatsApp owner Facebook describes this in its announcement, it seems like it won't be on by default but you'll have to actively choose to enable it by going to...

Xiaomi Poco M4 pops up on FCC, the launch date could be close

A new Poco device appeared in recent FCC filings and by the looks of it, it's the upcoming Poco M4. Of course, as it's usually the case with FCC listings, this one doesn't reveal much about the handset but it does give us a few pieces of the puzzle. The Poco M4 Pro will launch in two memory variants - 4GB/64GB and 8GB/128GB and will support 5G and NFC. And unsurprisingly, the handset is going to run on Xiaomi's latest MIUI 12.5 platform. There's nothing else we can extract from the FCC documents so all we can do is wait and see if Xiaomi will bring some upgrades while retaining the...

Genshin Impact gets 120fps support on iOS

Popular action RPG Genshin Impact today released version 2.2 update for iOS. The update brought a new character as well as additional events, areas, and gameplay content. However, the thing we are interested in the most is the option for 120fps. Right at the bottom of the update log is the entry 'New Function: 120 FPS option for some devices'. The text is needlessly vague as 120fps support really only exists on two Apple products at the moment, the new iPhone 13 Pro models and the iPad Pro models. This makes Apple's devices the first to have frame rate options above 60fps in...

Honor 50 Lite coming to Europe, looks just like Huawei’s nova 8i

Back in June, we saw the debut of the Honor 50 series phones in China. These consist of the Honor 50 Pro, Honor 50 and Honor 50 SE with the vanilla model expected to launch in Europe on October 26 with Google Mobile Services in tow. Now WinFuture is reporting of a Honor 50 Lite phone which is also expected to debut on the Old Continent by the end of the month. Honor 50 Lite in blue and black colors (images: WinFuture) Looks alone tell you this is a rebadged Huawei nova 8i and the leaked spec sheet of the “new” device confirms it. This also raises the question of just how...

Infinix Note 11 series unveiled: the Pro model has a 6.95" 120Hz screen, 13MP tele camera

Infinix unveiled the new generation of its jumbo-sized Note series. Like its predecessor, the Infinix Note 10 Pro packs a 6.95” display – this is more of a small tablet than a large phone. For this generation, however, the refresh rate has been cranked up from 90 Hz to 120 Hz. The touch sampling rate remains at 180 Hz. It is an IPS LCD panel with 1,080 x 2,460 px resolution, same as before. But this year it has a new chipset driving it – the Helio G96 by MediaTek. This chip has a pair of Cortex-A76 CPU cores like its predecessor (the G95) and our testing shows that it has an edge in...
