Looks like the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) will be soon get the Nougat update. The device - powered by Android version 7.0 - has been spotted on benchmarking website GFXBench, indicating that the update is being tested by the company. The handset was made official back in January this year, and it runs Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) out of the box. Sadly, there's currently no information on exactly when the tech giant will push out the update. Here's hoping that testing goes smoothly and the update arrives sooner rather than later. Source | Via

Nextbit's community site has been shut, now redirects to Razer's home page
Just a few months after acquiring Nextbit, Razer has silently shut down the company's community site. If you try accessing the site now, you get redirected to Razer's official site. Also, individual pages return 404 Not Found error. Only the community website has been taken offline - nextbit.com still works, although if you try purchasing the cloud-focused Robin smartphone, the listing says it's "Sold Out." Reports say Nextbit will be using Razer Insider for any further communication. Nextbit community site | Razer Insider
Android Nougat's distribution grows steadily in May
Every month, Google releases its distribution numbers which show the percentage of each Android version that is actively being used during the month. This helps developers gauge which Android Version it should aim to develop an app for to ensure the widest compatibility. Currently, Lollipop remains at the top with a total of 32% share and just behind is Marshmallow at 32.1% which, actually, hasn't budged since last month's numbers were generated. Otherwise, Nougat's distribution numbers are steadily rising up: 7.1 percent from April's 4.9%. The wave of Samsung Galaxy S8 devices that...

T-Mobile weighs in on its future with 5G, expected to rollout in 2019
Today T-Mobile has outlined its future with 5G technology and its deployment of the 600 MHz spectrum that it acquired earlier last month. 45% of all the spectrum auctioned by the FCC was snagged by ol' Magenta which is basically "prime" spectrum as lower frequency bands are reach farther from towers and deeper into building walls. Today's news builds on top of April's score of 600 MHz spectrum. T-Mobile released a video announcement, which T-Mobile calls "vlogs", where John Legere, CEO of T-Mobile, weighs in on AT&T's "5G Evolution" strategy. Then, Legere goes on to officially announce its...
Honor 6X Nougat roll-out starts today
Honor and ZTE both announced smartphones at CES within hours of each other. The difference? Not actually too much, they are both similarly priced, carry similar specs, and both devices were launched on Marshmallow with promise to be updated to Nougat in the near-ish future. Where these devices are different, however, is Honor's Nougat update is rolling out starting today, following some delay, though still keeping the promise on updating in H1 of this year. The Honor 6X will be updated to Android Nougat and EMUI 5.0 will start rolling out today. "All Honor 6X phones will receive...
Samsung Galaxy C7 Pro preview: A closer look
Samsung announced the C7 Pro shortly after the C9 Pro. It followed the same recipe, but distilled in a smaller package, and consequently, a smaller price tag. In a way, this is the more appropriate device to make a stand against the onslaught of Chinese smartphones. The smaller size also makes the C7 Pro more approachable for most people, who might have found the 6.0-inch C9 Pro intimidating size-wise.
Instant Games on Facebook Messenger are now available globally
Facebook announced Instant Games for Messenger in November of last year, and since then these have been available to users of the app located in the US. From today on, however, Instant Games are rolling out globally to Messenger's 1.2 billion users (and the rollout will take a few weeks to complete, Facebook says). Additionally, rich gameplay features (such as turn-based games) are built into the experience now, as well as game bots - which help game makers call out stuff like new levels and rewards. The selection of games has been expanded too. Depending on where you are and what...
Huawei nova 2 is revealed by TENAA certification
Huawei launched the nova mid-range smartphone last October, but it looks like its successor is now almost ready for release. That's because according to reports in Chinese media, the nova 2 has already been certified for sale in the country by TENAA. The process has resulted in some images of the phone becoming public, as usual. You can see these below. The nova 2's design is quite different from that of its predecessor. Gone is the Nexus 6P look and in are some antenna lines that are very reminiscent of Apple's latest iPhones. On the front, 2.5D glass sits on top of the...

A ZTE Axon 7s with slightly lower specs found on TENAA
It seems that ZTE is prepping a lower cost version of the Axon 7s or perhaps a regional version of it. You can see the new speaker grills on the front and dual camera on the back, those are straight from the 7s. The internals, however, are closer to the original Axon 7. The new phone - known as ZTE A2018 for now - gets to keep some of the highlights of the Axon, including the 5.5" OLED screen of QHD resolution, the stereo speakers and yes, the new dual camera. Plus, the storage options goes up even higher than the 7s - you can choose between 256GB, 128GB and 64GB. But then there's the...

Logitech has announced a new keyboard case for the new 5th generation iPad. Called the Slim Folio, the case includes a full-size keyboard with a mechanical scissor-switch key design with 1.5mm key travel and a row of iOS shortcut keys. Unfortunately, the keyboard isn't backlit. The case has two positions to rest the iPad, one at an angle for typing and one lying flat for watching or reading. When closed, the case covers the entire iPad in a rugged shell. Perhaps the best part of the keyboard is the battery life. The Slim Folio is rated at four years of battery life on the single...

The image - and the post in general - is as generic as possible, it's too early for specifics The OnePlus 5 could be unveiled soon, the 3 was announced in June, the 2 in July, so it will should be a month or two from now. You may be wondering how we got to 5 after 1, 2, 3... the math here is iffy, but some count the 3T as "4". Also, in Chinese culture, the number 4 is similar to 13 in Western culture and is often skipped. This is most likely not an...

Nintendo explains the NES Classic was discontinued due to lack of resources
If you grew up in the 80s or 90s, then Nintendo is likely a bright part of many of your childhood memories. Since most of us in the tech realm typically fit this exact description nowadays, it is not hard to see why the company's retro-fueled NES Classic remake sold out like hot cakes after its release. Sadly, the $59.99 "blast form the past" is now officially discontinued, only a few short months into its life. Nintendo hadn't really given any explanation as to why it axed the incredibly successful product, up until a recent interview with company president Reggie Fils-Aimé. We...
