Samsung Galaxy Note9 official cases up for pre-order in UK, reveal design once more

Samsung is announcing the Galaxy Note9 tomorrow at a special event in New York. We've heard a lot about the phone - its prices in Europe, and in the Asia-Pacific region; about the S Pen and its Bluetooth connectivity, and about the camera with the variable aperture from f/1.5 to f/2.4. We might've wrapped the story so far in a neat Sunday read, but we just got some new info in our mailbox. The UK accessory retailer MobileFun is now offering official cases from Samsung, Olixar, and other for the upcoming phablet. The listings include press images of the actual phone, confirming the dual...

Nokia 6.1 Plus is probably launching in India on August 21 as HMD Global schedules event

HMD Global has started sending out media invites for an event taking place on August 21 in India. As you can see, the company making Nokia smartphones doesn't mention exactly what device it's going to announce, but does say it's going to be a "big unveil". That wording is vague, but the most likely candidate for launch on that day in the subcontinent is the Nokia 6.1 Plus, also known as Nokia X6 in China. Its support page has already gone live in India. The Nokia 5.1 Plus and/or the Nokia 2.1 and 8110 4G might also make an appearance. The Nokia 2.1 should retail for INR 6,999 ($102...

Palm device goes through FCC with Android 8.1 Oreo

Ever since TCL bought the rights to license the Palm brand from HP back in 2015, we've known that the Chinese smartphone manufacturer plans to bring Palm brand back from the defunct. Last we heard, Verizon planned to bring revived Palm devices in H2 of 2018. That last piece of news appeared to be accurate, as we are just now seeing a device with the model number: PVG100 pass through two US communications agencies: the FCC and the Wi-Fi Alliance. The company that submitted both filings is called Palm Ventures Group. Source: Wi-Fi Alliance The FCC filing shows a label that...

You can now turn off conversation view in Gmail for iOS and Android

We've all been through it. You're trying to find an important message in the Gmail app and once you do find it, you have to dig through the entire conversation to find the one email that contained that important attachment. Google has offered the option to disable its "conversation view" in the full website version of Gmail. Starting today, you'll be able to disable Gmail's threaded email view in mobile versions of the app on both iOS and Android. Google says if you already have the option toggled off on the desktop version of the app, the setting should also mirror on the...

Today Qualcomm has shared an invite for an event that's going to happen on September 10 in San Francisco. This will be all about watches, as you can see from the invite, which means you should get ready for a new wearable chipset to be unveiled. Hmmm. Just got a save-the-date from Qualcomm. Wonder what's happening September 10? pic.twitter.com/HVeJrVSo2k— Michael Fisher (@theMrMobile) August 7, 2018 And not a moment too soon, as the Snapdragon Wear 2100 SoC that currently powers all of the most recent Wear OS devices is getting rather old. Hopefully the new silicon will enable...

ANATEL certification suggests that the Sony Xperia XZ3 will come with smaller battery

Remember that time when Brazil's National Telecommunications Agency leaked the 4,000 mAh battery on the Galaxy Note9? Well, it has done it again but this time with the Sony Xperia XZ3. However, things are not looking good. According to ANATEL's certification document, the device with model numbers H-9461 and H-9463, which are believed to be two variants of the Xperia XZ3, will come with a smaller battery than its predecessor. The Xperia XZ2 holds a 3,180 mAh cell while the new generation will drop down to 3,060 mAh. We hope that this won't affect battery life by much Sony has...

Oppo F9 Pro teaser shows off the design and the fast VOOC charging

Oppo's F9 has had its fair share of leaks the last few days, so now it's F9 Pro's turn. Oppo just uploaded a teaser video of the F9 Pro showing off the unconventional display design, which they call it "Waterdrop Screen" and the gradient back design. We also have the unspecified dual rear cameras on the back and the fingerprint reader. In addition, Oppo has previously hinted at superb selfie capabilities, which could only mean a selfie-centric phone just like the regular F9. And last but not least, the clip shows one of the iconic feature for most mid-range to high-end Oppo handsets...

Other than that, the stylus works as before with the screen being able to detect 4,096 levels of pressure. Both phones have similar hardware, so we'll start with the higher end model and focus on the differences later. The Energizer Power Max P490S and its sibling are compact phones thanks to their 4.95" screen with 18:9 aspect ratio. The resolution is pretty basic, 480 x 960px. They measure only 65.8mm wide and have grippy coating on the inside, making them easy to handle. And they come bundled with a...

Two more vivo phones to get 22.5W charging

BBK Electronics is the umbrella company for Oppo, OnePlus, and vivo. The first two have a fancy name for their 18W quick charging technology, respectively VOOC and DASH Charge, but the third one kept it simple and skipped on choosing a fancy nickname. When the vivo NEX S arrived, it was shipped with 22.5W charger in the box, and now, according to 3C certificates, two more phones are getting the ultra-fast charging. We know almost everything we need to know about the upcoming Meizu 16 and 16 Plus and the latest Geekbench listing comes to add another interesting detail into the mix, just a day before the official release, which is believed to be August 8. The multi-core score is downright impressive and we suspect it's probably due to the vapor chamber cooling system. The score sheet doesn't say anything particularly new - we've seen the Snapdragon 845 chipset coming from miles ahead and the latest TENAA listing says that both variants, the regular one and the plus-sized version will share the same...

The model numbers are - PBEM00 and PBET00 and the camera alignment on the back is in line with the last two live photos. Unfortunately, though, information is scarce and...
