Instagram to soon allow you to download your own data

Instagram has revealed plans of allowing users to download a copy of their data, according to a report by Techcrunch. An Instagram spokesperson responded to Techcrunch after the latter published an article about the lack of data portability on the service. The details of this feature are yet to be finalized and Instagram did not go into any detail at the moment. We don't know to what extent would the company allow backing up the user data, whether it will be limited to simply letting users download all the photos and videos they have uploaded so far or will they also be getting a...

Huawei P20 Pro review

Huawei was among the front-runners in the dual-camera race with the P9 and then the Mate 10, so who better to take things to the next level? The Huawei P20 Pro one-ups all current major players and comes with three cameras on its back, each unique in its own right.

Motorola announces $60 Moto Stereo Speaker mod

Motorola has announced the new Moto Stereo Speaker mod for its Z series of smartphones. As with other mods, it is designed to work with all the Z series phones. Unlike the last two speaker mods that were built in partnership with JBL, the Moto Stereo Speaker mod is made by Motorola itself. It features stereo speakers and a kickstand to prop up the phone at an angle in landscape mode, just like the JBL mods. Unlike the JBL mods, however, the Moto Stereo Speaker does not have its own battery, which means it drains the phone every time you use it. The JBL SoundBoost 2 is also splash...

Unannounced second generation Snapchat Spectacles passes through FCC

A second generation version of the Snapchat Spectacles has seemingly passed through FCC for certification. While the FCC documents don't name them as such, the leaked packing label and the fact that it's called 'Wearable video camera 002' in the FCC filing doesn't make it awfully hard to guess what it could be. The upcoming arrival of a second generation model has been rumored for a while, with the new model promising improved performance but not much else. A second wearable camera accessory is also rumored for 2019 with two cameras, GPS and a $300 price tag but nothing concrete...

Sony's Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact will be available in the US on April 20

One US retailer started unofficially taking pre-orders for Sony's Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact at the end of March, but now we have the official launch details for the Japanese company's latest flagship duo in the States. They will become available from Best Buy online on April 20. If you want to grab yours from a physical Best Buy store, you'll have to wait until May 6. Then, on May 20, the phones arrive at Amazon and "other participating retailers". Best Buy will be taking online pre-orders from April 13 to April 19. The XZ2's official US price is $799.99, while the XZ2 Compact will...

OnePlus 6 gets officially shown off underneath a OnePlus 5T

OnePlus' teaser campaign for its next smartphone is already in full swing. Today we get a glimpse at the OnePlus 6's left side, courtesy of what has now become traditional for the company - namely, a shot of its current flagship sitting atop the yet to be released model. That's the OnePlus 5T's back you can see in the image, but underneath it is the upcoming OnePlus 6. And we can glance at its left side. There's only so much info we can gather from such a teaser, but if you look closely it does seem like the antenna bands are confined to the metal frame and don't slip over onto the phone's...

Explaining the tech behind Huawei P20 Pro's triple camera

Huawei and Leica put a lot of effort into building a unique camera. On paper, the Huawei P20 Pro camera should be the best on the market, though that paper may be tough to understand. So, let us quickly guide you through the three cameras of the Pro. The 40 MP camera is the major selling point. It features a huge 1/1.7" sensor, considerably larger than any current phone. You're probably thinking that this means small pixels and it does, but it's not quite so simple. The sensor features something called a Quad Bayer filter, but we should probably explain what a Bayer filter is in the...

At its heart the Y71 has a Snapdragon 450 chipset with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage that can be expanded via the microSD card slot. There's a 13MP main camera and 5MP front-facing one. That second snapper doubles as a Face Unlock scanner, which might come in handy as there's no fingerprint sensor to be found on the vivo Y71. To complete the package come a 3,360 mAh battery, Android Oreo and LTE...

Original Pixel and Pixel XL head for greener pastures, no longer available from Google store

They had a good run, but now it is time to retire - the Google Pixel and Pixel XL are no longer available through Google's official store. The first Pixels, replacements of the Nexus line, launched in October 2016, meaning they were on sale for a year and a half. Google committed to 2 years of software updates for these two, meaning they will enjoy fresh software for another six months. This means that Android P will be the last version the original Pixels receive. They will get security updates fro another year, though, so it's not like you have to chuck them in the trash come...

Samsung Galaxy Note9 tipped to come with 6.4" screen, larger battery

The Samsung Galaxy Note9 may have to launch early, but there is still time for some improvements. This is based on rumors coming out of Weibo from normally reliable leaksters, but we'd wait on some official sources before we're sure (the Brazilians love leaking battery capacities). The new Note may be slightly larger at 6.4" and of the same aspect ratio. It's a small change, but it will widen the gap between the Galaxy S9+ and Note9. Whether there will be a fingerprint reader beneath this display is a whole different matter and we've seen many contradicting rumors. Anyway, the...
