OnePlus Band is official with color display, 14 days battery life

OnePlus is the latest company joining the world of wearables with the OnePlus Band - an affordable smart band with heart rate and SpO2 sensors, color display, long battery life, and plenty of sports modes. The OnePlus Band comes with a 1.1” AMOLED display with touch controls - there are no physical buttons on the device. The resolution of the screen is 126x294 pixels and you get dozens of customization options. There are 37 different watch faces (with five being stored on the device), and some can be tweaked further. The device is extremely light - the tracker is 10.3 grams, the...

OnePlus Band review

The OnePlus Band is the company's first foray into the popular wearables segment. Launched exclusively in India, the new OnePlus Band is an affordable fitness tracker that helps you keep track of your workouts, heart rate, blood oxygen levels, sleep patterns, and notifications. The OnePlus Band comes in a single model — W101N — with a removable strap design. The dimensions are quite similar to other fitness trackers on the market, measuring 40.4 x 17.6 x 11.95mm for the fitness tracker and the strap taking the width up to 21mm. It weighs 22.6g with the strap, which can be barely...

Honor introduces Band 6 to the global scene, Intel-powered MagicBook Pro tags along

Honor has announced today its global portfolio will grow with two mobile products - the Honor Band 6 and Honor MagicBook Pro with an Intel processor. Both devices will start appearing at markets where Honor is available soon. The Honor Band 6 was initially introduced in early November with a big screen - it can easily be mistaken for a Huawei Watch Fit. However, this wearable comes with a smaller, but still big enough 1.47” AMOLED screen, rectangular shape, and a 2.5D curved glass on top. This wearable has five health monitoring features (SpO2, Heart rate, Sleep, Stress, Female...

Top 10 trending phones of week 1

The Mi 11 maintains its record of having lead our trending chart for every day of 2021 so far and more announcements made sure Xiaomi properly dominates the top 10. The Mi 10i slid in second, while the Redmi 9T and Redmi Note 9T 5G got third and fourth, despite only debuting on friday. In fifth we have the Galaxy S21 Ultra, which will be looking to place higher up next week once it goes official. Two more Samsung phones follow - the Galaxy A12 and Galaxy A51 take sixth and seventh, respectively. The final three positions have two more Xiaomi made phones with the Redmi Note 9...

Week 1 in review: A host of new releases in the low-to-midrange, Galaxy S21 launch nearing

Welcome to another week's recap. With the approaching announcement of the Galaxy S21 family, there were inevitably a bunch of stories related to that. A set of case renders attempted to answer how the S Pen will attach to the S21 Ultra, raising more questions in the process, while a leaked infographic detailed the new cameras. A source claimed there won't be a microSD slot on the non-Ultras, another unfortunate development. Most importantly, however, Samsung set the Unpacked date, officially. The high-end Galaxies are yet to go live, but we did get a bunch of new announcements this week to...

Flashback: the LG KE850 Prada had the first capacitive touchscreen, not the iPhone

Many think that the iPhone was the first phone with a capacitive touchscreen, but that’s not the case – the LG KE850 Prada was announced a month earlier (December 15, 2006) compared to Apple’s unveiling at the Macworld Expo (January 9, 2007). Sales of the KE850 started in May of 2007 at a price of €600 while the iPhone first became available in June. The design of the phone was a collaboration between LG and fashion brand Prada, which lent its name to the final product. The phone was even bundled with a swanky leather case, which underlined its status as a piece of...

Weekly poll results: Xiaomi Mi 11 gets mostly warm reception, but many are waiting for the Pro

You get a lot of attention for being first and in the case of the Xiaomi Mi 11 it is positive attention. Nearly half the voters in last week’s poll would buy one if the phone gets good reviews. Even without reviews, 24% are feeling optimistic about the phone and will buy one as soon as it one is available near them. Those waiting on the reviews are curious about the chipset – the Snapdragon 888 may be the first chip with ARM’s power core, the Cortex-X1, but some are concerned about sustained performance. The phone topped the AnTuTu charts, for what that's worth. Another complaint is...

Weekly poll: picking the perfect display (refresh rate, resolution, curved or flat)

Samsung never enabled 120Hz mode at 1440p+ resolution for the Galaxy S20 family, despite what some early rumors claimed. This year it’s looking like the new LTPO panel on the Galaxy S21 Ultra will finally enable 120Hz at the top resolution. The two vanilla S21 will get 1080p+ displays side-stepping the issue. All of this is just rumors for now, of course, the official announcement isn’t until next week. But while we wait we wanted to ask which do you prefer – resolution or refresh rate? A 1080p+ high refresh rate (HRR) display and a high resolution one? You can’t have both as a 4K 144 Hz...
