Huawei throws shade at Apple for yesterday's event

Apple introduced yesterday plenty of services, while Huawei is unveiling the P30 lineup today. Although the timeline appears to be a coincidence, Huawei Ireland did not hold back and decided to throw shade at Cupertino and tweeted "Thanks for the warm up Tim" with the actual punctuation errors. Although some might find the tweet funny, commenters below immediately went into hivemind mentality and started attacking the Chinese phone manufacturer, including highlighting the fact that the company CFO Meng Wanzhou had three Apple products on herself at the time of arrest. Others...

Lenovo Z6 Pro announcement scheduled for March 27

Lenovo's upcoming flagship Z6 Pro was teased during MWC but we never got to see the actual phone. Now, the company's VP Chang Cheng announced on Weibo that the device will be unveiled on March 27. The main focus of the upcoming Lenovo flagship seems to be its camera capabilities with the Hyper Vision sensor promising a leap forward in image and video quality. Sadly, there is still no clear indication what's so Hyper about it. The phone might also sport 5G connectivity to fit in with the new trend. There are also speculations that a non-5G variant of the Z6 Pro could launch as soon...

Nokia X71 (aka 8.1 Plus) with a 48MP rear camera coming on April 2

HMD has published an invite for the unveiling of the Nokia X71. The event will be held in Taiwan on April 2 and will also feature the Nokia 9 PureView, HMD's best camera phone for now (but perhaps not once the event is over). The X71 - which should eventually launch as Nokia 8.1 Plus globally - will be HMD's first phone to feature a 48MP sensor. This camera will be paired with a 120° ultra-wide shooter, both with Zeiss optics. This will also be the first Nokia to sport a punch hole selfie camera, as seen in these renders. The screen should measure 6.22". Nokia 8.1 Plus...

Xiaomi Mi Play reaches Europe

Xiaomi took the wraps off the budget Mi Play smartphone in China last December, and it's taken this long for it to reach Europe - but it finally has. The Mi Play is now official for the Ukrainian market, where it was unveiled today. The device can be yours for UAH 4,699, which at the moment translates into roughly $174 or €154. That's only around $11 more than its price in China, it's good not to see a huge markup as it sometimes happens when phones originally launched over there make it to Europe. For now Xiaomi doesn't seem to have any plans to launch the Mi Play in other places,...

Xiaomi shows out 100W Super Charge Turbo

Oppo's SuperVOOC is currently the fastest wired charger with its 50W speeds at 10V/5A, however, Xiaomi is looking to up the ante on charging speeds with its new Super Charge Turbo. The company will announce its new charging technology at an official event tomorrow but we got a glimpse of its capabilities early. In a Weibo post by the brand's president Lin Bin, we got our first look at the 100W charger running at 20V/5A against Oppo's 50W solution. After just 17 minutes, Xiaomi's charger manages to reach 100% while Oppo's charger is still at 65%. These speeds are remarkable, given the...

As expected, it will cost €2,000. That's expensive for sure, but perhaps a small price to pay in order to hold the earliest available foldable smartphone from a big brand? Also keep in mind that all customers are getting a free pair of the new wireless...

Samsung Galaxy Note FE gets official Android 9.0 update

Released back in July 2017, the Samsung Galaxy Note FE had the tough task of patching up Samsung's reputation after the whole Note 7 disaster. While the days of exploding Note 7's are long gone, Samsung hasn't forgotten its Note FE users and rolled out an update to Android 9.0 Pie with OneUI on top. As a reminder, the phone features the same design and specs as the ill-fated Note 7 with the main difference being the battery capacity, which was reduced to 3,200 mAh. Sharp's foldable smartphone showcased in 3D renders

Foldable phones are clearly the next big thing with mobile tech. So far only Samsung and Huawei have showcased working devices, but we expect other manufacturers to join as well and Sharp appears to be one of them. Back in 2017, the company filed a patent and it popped-up on WIPO's (World Intellectual Property Office) database. The sketches below depict the device's design and functionality. To get a better grasp of the handset, the guys over at LetsGoDigital made a few 3D renders. They show a smartphone with a tall bezel-less display that folds vertically like a standard clamshell...

The Redmi Note 7 Pro will not be available globally

If you were hoping the Redmi Note 7 Pro will go global so you can have the faster chipset, we have some bad news. Those were delivered by Xiaomi's Regional Director for Southeast Asia John Chen, who said it's not happening. The Pro will remain exclusive to China and India due to Redmi's product strategy. The naming scheme makes things a little confusing as the "Redmi Note 7" in India has a 12MP main sensor on the back while the 48MP sensor is reserved for the Pro model. Outside of India, however, the 48MP sensor is used (yes, even in China). That said, the cameras are not identical as...

Pocophone F1 gets Game Turbo with the latest MIUI Global Beta update

Xiaomi introduced the so-called Game Speed Booster when the Mi 9 launched and the very same feature is now making its way to the Pocophone F1 although, with a different name - Game Turbo. As the name implies, the feature will enhance the gaming experience by optimizing the available resources. Xiaomi's take on the gaming boost will optimize the CPU and GPU to deliver more consistent and fluent gaming experience. It doesn't magically boost the performance of the hardware but instead tries to keep a more steady FPS count. In addition, the Game Turbo allows you to clear the memory,...
