Samsung Internet Browser is no more exclusive to Samsung devices
Samsung has opened up its mobile web browser - dubbed Internet Browser - to some non-Samsung devices. A quick look at the browser's Play Store listing reveals that the app is now also compatible with Google Nexus phones (running Android 5.0 and above). I have a Nexus 5 phone, and the Play Store listing says the app is compatible with my device. Further, reports say some other (non-Google) devices - like the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 - are also on the list, although Samsung hasn't yet officially confirmed them. Source | Via

The Google Chromecast Ultra has received an official price cut in the United States. The device is currently going for as low as $59, which translates into a discount of around $10. Aside from Google, third-party retailers such as Best Buy, B&H, and Walmart are also selling the device at discounted rates. The dongle was launched back in October last year, and this is not the first time it has received a price cut. Feature-wise, the device is capable of streaming 4K videos, and also supports HDR video content and Dolby Vision. It packs hardware that's 1.8x faster than the previous...

Top music player apps for Android
When it comes to playing locally stored music on an Android device, most people just use the app that comes pre-installed, which in most cases is Google Play Music, which isn't really your best option. Fortunately, there are now tons of great music player apps available for Android. Each of the apps featured below has a beautiful UI with elegant design and meaningful animations. The have all the basic features along with some customization...
Samsung Galaxy S8 vs. Galaxy S7 edge quick camera comparison
You couldn't possibly have missed our three-way smartphone comparison between the LG G6, Samsung Galaxy S8, and Sony Xperia XZ Premium we published two weeks ago, but if that's somehow the case be sure to catch up now. The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge didn't quite belong in that group, and for an obvious reason - it's last year's model. We did, however, bring it along when we went to shoot the camera samples - a new vs. old shootout was always part of our plans, even if just for in-house consumption. Well, as it turns out, this head-to-head now makes it to publication. We'll keep it...

Weekly poll: BlackBerry KEYone serves a hardware QWERTY, will anyone bite into it?
The first BlackBerry got its name thanks to its characteristic keyboard - the keys made it look like a blackberry. That keyboard arrangement, with keys at the bottom, was an ergonomic win and became a trademark for the company. The BlackBerry KEYone is a return to that legacy, after the company lost its way in the torrent of touchscreen-only phones that washed away its market share. The square grid of the QWERTY keyboard doesn't look like the eponymous fruit. However, if you look closely, the keys still have a 3D shape that follows the arc of your thumbs as you move to type at a blinding...
Counterclockwise: tracking the shrinking bezels of phones over the years
Everyone loves large screens. We're less passionate about large phones, though. It's bezels that make all of the difference, so we're happy to see manufacturers put smartphones on a bezel-burning diet. This is a relatively new trend, enabled by improved touchscreen technology. Let's start at the dawn of the modern smartphone, 2007 and the launch of the Apple iPhone. Back then the average screen to body ratio was 33%, clearly the market was dominated by non-touch devices with keypads or keyboards. The iPhone rose way above that with a 52% Screen-to-Body (StB) ratio. Average screen to...
Weekly poll results: advanced on-screen buttons on bezel-less phones are the future
Our readers want to live cutting edge in tech - one in three voted in favor of advanced touchscreens that are pressure sensitive and hide fingerprint readers beneath them. Basically, the final evolution of the capacitive key. Hardware keys still have their fans, one in four voters. Looking through the comments, we find that many of you love Sony's solution of combining the fingerprint reader with the Power key and mounting the combo on the side. However, a slightly more popular option proved to be wider than 16:9 screens, which leave room for on-screen keys while still leaving plenty of...
