Moto G8 Plus shows up in leaked renders with 4,000 mAh battery and 25MP selfie cam

In the latest development in leakland, alleged Moto G8 Plus images appeared, ahead of the handset's announcement later this month. Let's look at the renders and the supposed specifications for the midrange phone. The phone is referred to as the Moto G8 Plus with the model number XT2019. The device comes with a 6.3-inch FHD IPS LCD with a selfie camera contained in a small notch. Just above the notch is a large speaker port, perhaps indicating the device will have stereo loudspeakers. Below the screen is a relatively large chin. The phone is said to pack a Snapdragon 665 chipset...

Google teased a more advanced shooting mode at today's event

Today, Google held its MadeByGoogle event where it announced its latest hardware including the updated Pixel Buds, Nest Home Mini, Pixelbook Go, and Pixel 4 smartphone. The presentation covered Google's approach to photography and how it manages to get lots of details while also suppressing highlights from clipping. The Pixel 4 does bring new features to photography including HDR+ in the viewfinder, dual exposure controls for photos, and the Pixel 4 can capture starry night. The presentation switches to talking about Night Sight at around 54:23. However, there is one scenario...

Here's a Chinese OnePlus 7T ad starring Robert Downey Jr

An ad for the OnePlus 7T has been reposted to YouTube from Robert Downey Jr.'s Weibo account, starring the actor. The commercial features Robert Downey Jr., who is not a stranger to starring in OnePlus ads. It starts with actor Robert Downey Jr. breaking from a set for 5 minutes. As he leaves the sound stage, he plugs in the OnePlus Bullets and a OnePlus 7T and starts jamming out on the empty lot before he catches a tour group recording him with their OnePlus phones. It then somehow becomes a dance party until the producer comes looking for Downey to come back on set,...

Xiaomi has already sold more than 100 million Redmi Note devices

Xiaomi's Redmi sub-brand has a very successful line of smartphones in its roster, and that is the Redmi Note line. The Chinese company has just announced that it's sold more than 100 million Redmi Note devices globally since the inception of this family back in 2014. So now there are apparently 100+ million happy users of a Redmi Note handset, whichever that might be. Previous milestones include the Redmi Note 7 series shipping over 4 million units by the end of March this year, while in July that number went up to 15 million, and yesterday it climbed all the way up to 20...

Samsung Galaxy S11 to have a taller 20:9 screen

It's still early for solid Samsung Galaxy S11 leaks but we're now starting to get a small trickle of them going. First we got word that Samsung will start to test a new 5x periscope telephoto camera for the S11, and now, thanks to a leaked HTML 5 browser test, we get a hint of the Galaxy S11's new display. The device tested in the HTML 5 benchmark uses the SM-G416U model name, which is a placeholder name Samsung uses when testing its unreleased Galaxy S models. It unsurprisingly runs Android 10 but more interestingly, it packs a 20:9 screen aspect, as evidenced by the mock 384x854px...

Google won't sell the Pixel 4 in India because of the radar hardware inside

Google finally made the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL official today after a huge amount of leaks, but that's not going to matter to Indian consumers interested in these devices. That's because, unlike past Pixels, these two are not going to be officially sold in India. Google cites the Soli radar tech that powers the Motion Sense gestures as the culprit. Soli works in the 60GHz frequency and the Indian government doesn't currently allow for public use of that. This means that, were Google to launch the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL in the subcontinent, it would have to do that with Soli...

According to the press release LG plans to offer a stable build of Android 10 before the end of the year which would be a nice turnaround given the manufacturer's past track record with major firmware updates. The new UI will bring an overhauled visual experience alongside all the Android 10 goodies including the new gestures,...

Pixel 4 and 4 XL go official with 90Hz OLED screens and new telephoto cameras

The elevator pitch for the Pixel 4 duo is "90Hz screens and dual cameras". The two flagships come at the tail end of 2019 and represent Google's views of the current perfect Android phone. The screens are just about the only thing that sets the two models apart. The Google Pixel 4 features a 5.7" OLED panel with 1080p+ resolution. The XL model gets a larger, sharper 6.3" display with QHD+ resolution. In both cases, the aspect ratio is a clean 19:9 - there are no notches to complicate UI layout. There is a bit of a forehead that houses a lot of hardware, but more on that...

Google is having an event in New York where it will officially unveil the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL alongside a bunch of other devices. In addition to the smartphones, we are hoping to see a new pair of Pixel Buds that can take on the competition of AirPods and Galaxy Buds. There is also a new Nest Mini incoming, and some leaks mentioned an updated Home Mini with a hole on the back to be attached on a...

Along with the new phones, the brand also announced that it now has over 17 million users across the world. The impressive number of customers was reached between May 16, 2018 (when the Realme 1 was announced) and October 8, 2019, which was last week, meaning the family has grown a bit more since then. During that time, the former Oppo subsidiary introduced over a dozen smartphones, and its aggresive pricing has clearly helped it...

The new interface is aiming to provide better gaming experience to Black Shark phones, and Xiaomi promised more new features and plenty of themes for additional personalization of the smartphone. It is expected to have toggles for different game modes and an...

Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL: what to expect

Are the Pixel 4 and 4 XL the most-leaked phones ever? They probably are, even though the previous generations give them a run for their money. The official event is later today but unless Google has managed to keep something major from hitting the web, we have an almost complete picture of the phones. Almost reluctantly, Google is leaving the single camera setup behind. The ultrawide second front camera of the Pixel 3 was neat, but unless selfies make up a large portion of your photo gallery, the rear camera is significantly more important. Pixel 4 in Clearly White, Just Black...

The company doesn't explicitly mention the Enjoy 10, but the post includes images of a smartphone which looks similar to the Enjoy 10 we saw earlier this month, hinting at the arrival of Enjoy 10 later this week. The Enjoy 10 will feature a punch-hole display and sport a dual camera setup on its rear. The...

Pete Lau addresses missing OnePlus 7T Pro 5G version

With 2019 bringing the initial push into 5G connectivity, OnePlus surprisingly decided to hold out on their second device with 5G. Back in June, the company announced its first 5G phone - the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G which was among the first phones to support the new network standard in Europe. More surprisingly though we didn't get a successor as the OnePlus 7T Pro isn't offered in a 5G trim. After the last week's OnePlus launch event, CEO Pete Lau spoke to the media and explained that "there wasn't enough of an opportunity to launch a second 5G device". It's not related to a Pro...
