Top 10 trending phones of week 12

A turbulent week for our trending chart sees three new faces at the top three steps. Nokia 8.3 5G and the Samsung Galaxy A41 were the two hottest names to be announced this week, but in the end the HMD flagship ended up victorious. In third is the upcoming Redmi K30 Pro - the Snapdragon 865-powered upcoming flagship is obviously one of the most hotly anticipated phones of the Spring and it's turning heads even before it's announced. The leading pair from last week - Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max are now fourth and fifth and they have also traded places as the Max overtook...

Week 12 in review: Nokia 8.3 5G is here, Apple brings out new iPad Pros

HMD unveiled four devices this week, most interesting among them being the globe-trotting Nokia 8.3 5G, which packs a Snapdragon 765G, quad camera, 6.81-inch LCD and will go on sale at €599 this summer. HMD also resurrected yet another old classic - the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic, with an MP3 player, stereo speakers and a price tag of just €39, when it launches later this month. We also heard of Realme's new phone family Narzo. There will be two phones under the new branding - the Narzo 10 and Narzo 10A. The Narzo 10 looks like a regional variant of the Realme 6i, also unveiled this...

Huawei P40 lineup - what to expect

Even though the upcoming Huawei P40-series won't be loaded with Google Mobile Services the flagship series from the Chinese maker some of the most anticipated handsets this year. The announcement date is set for March 26 but we got plenty of early leaks to have a good idea what to expect. So much so in fact that we felt we need to sum them up and compile a nice little cheat sheet. Following the footsteps of Apple and Samsung, Huawei is planning to release three versions of its P40 handset - the usual vanilla and Pro models will be joined by a Premium Edition, which will be the highest...

The new phones and tablets of the week

We are living in times of uncertainty with most of the world in lockdown. One thing that remains a constant is the non-stop arrival of new phones. We had plenty of new arrivals in the past week, including an online launch by HMD where we saw no less than four phones, and two new iPads with dual cameras. Nokia 8.3 • Nokia 5.3 • Nokia 1.3 • Nokia 5310 Samsung is already selling its Galaxy S20 lineup around the world, so now it's focusing on refreshing its mid-range portfolio. The Galaxy M21 will be up for pre-order in India later this month, and we expect the phone to appear...

Weekly poll: can the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Pro Max win your affections?

The Redmi Note series is back and better (and bigger) than ever. We've really only seen the Pro model so far and its Max variation - we'll go over the differences in brief before directing you to our virtual voting booth. The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max goes up to a 6.67" screen, slightly larger than the previous Pro generation. The aspect ratio is taller and the selfie camera is inside a small punch hole (rather than a wide teardrop notch), making more efficient use of the surface area on the front. That's a 32MP camera, by the way. The rear camera is largely unchanged with a 64MP sensor...

Weekly poll results: the Realme 6 and 6 Pro share the fan love equally

"Both are good" is the result from last week's poll when we presented the Realme 6 and 6 Pro for your approval. These two ended up within less than a percentage point of each other. The Realme 6 came up on top by the narrowest of margins. It looks like the company nailed the pricing and differentiation between the two models. People in the comments spoke highly of the MediaTek Helio G90T chipset and appreciated the inclusion of 30W fast charging on the non-Pro model. One of the extras on the Realme 6 Pro is the 2x telephoto camera (12MP sensor), the other is a Snapdragon 720G chipset...

Mysterious Oppo pops-up on TENAA with a nearly complete specs sheet

A certain Oppo PDAM10 is now present on the Chinese certification authority's website, with plenty of specs to go around. Unfortunately, no market-friendly name or photos, as of yet. The mystery Oppo is equipped with a 5.6-inch, 2400 x 1080 pixle, 20:9 display, housed inside a 162.0 x 75.5 x 8.9 mm body and weighs-in at 188 grams. Apparently, a 4,880 mAh is keeping the lights on and contributing towards that weight figure. TENAA listing Number-churning is handled by an unknown octa-core chipset, with an advertised frequency of 2GHz, alongside 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage....
