Xiaomi will be launching the new Mi MIX 2 smartphone in India on October 10, 2017. The company sent out invitations to the Indian media for the event today. The Mi MIX 2 was announced last month as a successor to last year's Mi MIX that started the bezel-less design revolution. The new Mi MIX 2 improves upon almost every aspect of the original but is much smaller and more manageable. The Mi MIX 2 will also be a new flagship phone from Xiaomi being launched in India in a long time. The last time Xiaomi launched a flagship phone in India was last year with the Mi 5. The Mi MIX 2...

Nokia 8 scratches, burns, doesn't bend in comprehensive torture test
Nokias of the past have, over the years, received an almost ridiculous amount of praise for their solid construction. But does the newly revived Nokia brand still retain the same traits now that it's slapped onto Android smartphones? If we go by a durability test undergone by the Nokia 6, then the answer is a resounding yes. But what about the new flagship? We're talking about the Nokia 8, of course. To find out how durable it is, leave it to YouTube channel JerryRigEverything to perform a comprehensive torture test, as usual. Here it is, embedded below for your viewing pleasure. In...
Verizon starts Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL pre-orders, T-Mobile offers switchers $325
Like for the original Pixels from last year, Verizon is once again the only US carrier that will sell the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL in its stores. However, the phones aren't exclusive to Big Red in any way. Not only can you also buy them from Fi, Google's own carrier, but they will be available for purchase through the Google Store too. If you do want to get your Pixel fix from Verizon, though, you can now pre-order both models. The 64GB Pixel 2 is $27.08 per month with a two-year installment plan, while the 128GB version requires $31.24 each month. The 64GB Pixel 2 XL is priced at...
Made for Google certified accessories debut, initially from 26 partners
Starting today, the Made for Google program for certified accessories makes its debut. As the name implies, this is akin to Apple's Made for iPhone program, which certifies accessories for use with its devices. In a similar fashion, you'll see a Made for Google label on the box of every accessory that has been certified by the search giant for use with its hardware products. Made for Google was unveiled on stage today at the company's hardware launch. Initially there will be 26 partners selling Made for Google accessories, you can see all of their logos in the screengrab below (taken from...
Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL hands-on
Google acquired the HTC team that built the new Pixel 2 - let's see what the search giant bought for a billion dollars. Strangely enough, the smaller of the two devices hasn't changed much, but the larger Pixel 2 XL is much more in step with modern flagships.
Google Pixel 2 event coverage roundup

Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will receive OS and security updates for a minimum of three years
Buried deep in the official spec sheets for the new Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL is something that will be very good news for people who care about long-term software support. Google says it will update the new generation Pixels for three years at a minimum. That is for both OS and security updates, mind you. Here's a snapshot of the official wording in question: For the first generation Pixels launched in 2016, Google promised a minimum of two years of OS updates, and three years of security updates. So this is certainly a step forward, though if it stops OS updates right after the three...
New Google Daydream View VR headset arrives in three colors priced at $99
Google had a big day today, with its hardware event bringing us new smartphones, smart speakers, a laptop, a hands-free camera, and wireless earbuds. Oh, and also a new Daydream View VR headset, as one leak predicted not long ago. The new Daydream View looks similar to last year's model, but is improved in a lot of ways. It has higher-performance lenses, with better image clarity and a wider field of view. It's built from a new two-tone fabric, and comes in the three colors you can see below: Fog, Charcoal and Coral. The new headset is expected "later this year", priced at $99 (a...

Step aside, Note8 and iPhone 8 Plus - Pixel 2 duos scores 98 on DxOMark
Google's Pixel 2 is now official, and sure enough, a DxOLabs review went live as soon as the phone got announced. And if you thought the Galaxy Note8 and iPhone 8 Plus' score of 94 was impressive, think again - the Pixel 2 just pushed the bar higher to a record 98 points overall. The new 12MP camera relies on a 1/2.6" sensor behind an f/1.8 aperture lens, as opposed to 1/2.3" and f/2.0. Dual pixel autofocus now enters the specsheet, and the lens is stabilized - two serious improvements over the previous model. Those are the specs rounded up but it's in the pictures where the...
The original Google Pixel duo is now $100 cheaper
It is easy to get caught up in the excitement fueled by Google's latest Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, but they don't come cheap. Plus, there is also the whole availability issue associated with Pixel phones. This means that even if you have the money to put down, you might just have to wait in line for one. So this might actually be a good opportunity to pick up one of the original Pixel pair. Google has already slashed the price of the regular Pixel down to $549 for a 32GB unit. The 5.5-inch Pixel XL starts at $670. Upgrading to 128GB on either is $100 extra. There are trade-in and financing...
Google Pixelbook brings new life into Google's laptop experiment
Google is finally back to making laptops and its Pixelbook is its best and most premium one yet. Built for Chrome OS the Google Pixelbook is light and promises a 10 hour battery life and timely updates. Furthermore this is the first laptop with Google Assistant built right in. Despite its Chrome OS designation, the Google Pixelbook delivers solid PC specs - Intel's Core i5 or i7 CPUs (no word on the generation just yet), up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of flash storage. The Google Pixelbook matches Apple's Macbook with a 12.3-inch display but gets the jump on Apple's...
Google Pixel 2 and 2 XL go official
Google leads Android's software side, but recently it became more engaged in the hardware side as well - meet the second generation Pixel phones. As before, we're looking at a small and an XL model. Google Pixel 2 XL We'll begin with the more premium device - the Google Pixel 2 XL . The LG V30 influences are clearly visible in the 18:9 P-OLED screen. Its bezels are a bit thicker since they've been loaded with stereo speakers. The screen measures 6" and it is taller but not wider than the screen of the original XL. The resolution is 1,440 x 2,880px (538ppi) and there's a circular...
Google Home Mini and Max smart speakers are official
The Google Home Mini was leaked a couple of times recently, so you knew it would play a part in Google's presentation today. As it turns out, it was the first new product to be announced. The Home Mini is, like its name strongly implies, a smaller version of the original Google Home smart speaker that was released last year. The Home Mini is covered in a new fabric-like material that was developed specifically for it. The Google Home Mini will become available on October 19 for $49, in the three colors you see above, from major retailers in the US. On the other hand, the Home Max...

Check out the source link below to see all the countries the Google store is available in. Source | Via
Follow the Google Pixel 2 event live here
In about an hour Google will hold its Pixel 2 event and show us "a few new things" it made and you can watch it right here in the comfort of our homepage. We've already covered what's to be expected of Google today - the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2, a Pixelbook convertible laptop with Chrome OS, a smaller Google Home smart home speaker, similar to an Amazon Echo Dot, and perhaps a new Daydream VR headset. We'll be there at Google's event so stay tuned for hands-on impressions and live shots once the event wraps up.

iPhone X retail box shows up on Apple's site
Perhaps unwittingly, Apple has revealed the retail box of the iPhone X. The front of the box highlights the unique screen of the flagship while the boxes for the 8 and 8 Plus show the glass backs of the phones. The iPhone 7 box also showed the rear of the devices, same for the iPhone 6 generation - the 6s in between did show the front, however. So, Apple has no firm rule about which side of the device should be put on the front of the box. Anyway, you can check out the prices of the iPhone X around the world here. Pre-orders begin at the end of the month (October 27) and sales...
What to expect from Google's Pixel event tonight
Google's much-expected event is later today, but we already have a clear picture of what we'll see. The new Pixel phones are a given, they will be the highlight of the event and we will focus mostly on them. There are few other things that could show up, though. Pixel 2 The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL have leaked enough that we're pretty certain we know everything about them - well, almost everything. The main camera stats was missing from the jumbo leak from earlier. Google Pixel XL 2 Google Pixel 2 Pixelbook A convertible rival to Microsoft's Surface, the...
Samsung Galaxy A (2018) renders show off the Infinity Display
We caught a glimpse of the Galaxy A5 (2018) and the Galaxy A7 (2018), now it's time for a better look. Check out the 18.5:9 Infinity Display on the front, it makes the phones look premium. Benchmark results so far have failed to reveal the resolution, but we're probably looking at 1080p - or rather 1,080 x 2,220px to match the aspect ratio. Samsung Galaxy A (2018) with Infinity Display Around the back we find a single camera (dual camera will likely land on the 2019 model). The fingerprint reader is better positioned than on the Note. It's still fairly close to the camera, but we...
Complete Google Pixel XL 2 specs leak
Later today the Google Pixel XL 2 will be officially unveiled. But you can enjoy an unofficial presentation of its specs right here. There are few surprises here, given what we've gleaned from leaks. The new XL will have a 6" P-OLED screen (courtesy of LG). It's an 18:9 screen with 1,440 x 2,880px resolution. Always On Display is not listed, but given that both the screen and Android 8.0 Oreo support it, we think it's more than likely. By the way, the screen has 3D Arc Glass (Gorilla Glass 5 specifically). Leaked Pixel XL 2 specs (click for full size) The SIM situation has been...
Get a load of the Nokia 9 in Polished Blue
We saw what the upcoming Nokia 9 looks like and now, courtesy of the same source, we get to see it in its Polished Blue variant. Nothing outside of the color has changed - the phone has a dual camera on the back (probably Zeiss-branded), a fingerprint reader, again on the back, and a curved edge to edge display on the front (likely an OLED). It's expected that the Nokia 9 will have either 6GB or 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, possibly IP68 water proofing, wireless charging and maybe even an Iris Scanner. Expect a price of around 749 in Europe, but we are yet to hear on possible...
New Android Wear beta announced, based on Android 8.0 Oreo
Although Android Wear hasn't made any significant progress relative to its competitors (Samsung's Tizen and Apple's WatchOS), Google has announced that Android Wear beta is now available for flashing to a test device or via the Android emulator. Google mentions the update is "mainly a technical upgrade to APU 26 with enhancements to background limits and notification channels." This means that the Android Wear update will likely be an incremental update something along the lines of Android Wear 2.X. Google is offering "Notification Channels" on its next version of Android Wear so...
Amazon Alexa calling + messaging now available in UK, Germany, and Austria
Amazon's Echo is able to get software updates very easily. After all, the physical device itself acts as a capsule equipped with mics and speakers for Amazon's cloud service, which the Echo communicates with. Amazon Alexa gained a significant new feature a few months ago that allowed Amazon Echo owners to get in touch with their family and friends who also use the Amazon Echo. This new feature is now available to the Amazon Echo's European markets: UK, Germany, and Austria. Amazon Echo pulses green when there's a pending message or incoming call. If you head into your Amazon...
HTC U11 Life Android One phone has full specs leaked
The Android One program seems to be channeling the mythical Phoenix these days, rising from its ashes and unleashing new reasonably-priced smartphones running stock Android. The Xiaomi Mi A1 and Moto X4 are both part of the new wave of Android One handsets, and they will soon be joined by the HTC U11 Life. HTC U11 Life got its full specs leaked today, courtesy of a source that's been accurate with regard to HTC phones in the past. The U11 Life is said to come with a 5.2-inch 1080p touchscreen, a 16 MP main camera, and a 16 MP selfie snapper. It will be powered by the Qualcomm...
Galaxy Note8 joins the iPhone 8 Plus at the top of DxOMark's smartphone camera rankings
Last month DxOMark crowned the iPhone 8 Plus king of the smartphone cameras, awarding it an overall score of 94 in its testing. Today DxO Labs outed the result achieved by Samsung's Galaxy Note8, and it's... also 94. The iPhone 8 Plus and Galaxy Note8 are thus tied at the top of the DxOMark smartphone camera rankings, for now at least. The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will get official tomorrow, and last year the Pixel jumped straight to the top of the DxO camera chart on the day of its announcement. Then there's the iPhone X, also a possible contender for the No.1 spot, and let's not forget the...
iOS 11.0.2 is out now to fix more bugs
Today Apple has released the second minor update to iOS 11, the hot new version of its operating system that went out in mid-September. iOS 11.0.2 is all about fixing pesky bugs, as its iterative version number reveals. If you have an iPhone or iPad that's still supported, it's recommended to make the jump to 11.0.2 as quickly as possible. That's especially true if you have an iPhone 8 or 8 Plus and have had crackling sounds during phone calls, as this release will fix the bug that caused that. Also taken care of is a bug that caused some photos not to show up in your libraries, and...
Pixel 2 XL shown from another angle in Walmart leak that also reveals more Google Home Mini details
Now that we're less than 24 hours away from Google's big hardware-focused event, the new Pixel smartphones simply can't stop leaking. We've seen the Pixel 2 XL in a case yesterday (and from the front), then both the Pixel 2 and its bigger sibling got the press render treatment. How about another angle for the Pixel 2 XL? Thankfully, Walmart has provided that today, after mistakenly listing its pre-order page for the Google Home Mini smart speaker, that should also get unveiled tomorrow. The Pixel 2 XL in this image is in the 'panda' color scheme as you can see. The stereo front...
New leaked image portrays Huawei Mate 10 next to its predecessor
Huawei may insist on saying the upcoming Mate 10 is not a smartphone, but it sure leaks like one. Following the huge leak from yesterday, which brought us press renders of the Mate 10 Pro, today a new image compares that device to the Mate 9 from last year, as you can see. It's not clear if this is to scale, but if it is then expect the Mate 10 Pro to be slightly narrower and perhaps a tad shorter than its predecessor. The Mate 10 Pro has a glass back, dual rear cameras with Leica branding (and f/1.6 aperture at least on the main one), a fingerprint scanner under those, and a dual-LED...
Entry-level Honor Holly 4 debuts
Huawei's Honor brand will start selling a new phone in India, starting today. The Honor Holly 4 is available for purchase from Honor's partner stores across India for 11,999 INR or around 155. The Honor Holly 4 is a local version of the Honor 6A, which was unveiled in China back in May for the slightly lower price of around 105. The Honor Holly 4 has a 5-inch screen of 720p resolution and a Snapdragon 430 chipset with 3GB of RAM. There are two snappers on board - a 13MP main camera and 5MP selfie cam. You get a 3,020mAh battery, expandable storage (or dual-SIM) and Android...
WhatsApp finally gets its own emoji set... sort of
After years of using Apple's emoji set across all of its versions, WhatsApp has now finally designed its own emoji set, which is available to those running the latest Android beta. One look at it though and things don't look quite different. Indeed, the set looks awfully similar to the outgoing Apple emoji set, with some elements of the new Android Oreo emoji set with a dash of Twitter emoji set thrown in. While all of these are based on a common instruction from Unicode and it makes sense for them to look similar to reduce lost in translation between devices, they are a bit too...
EE users reporting troubles with activating their LTE-enabled Apple Watch Series 3
If embedded SIMs (eSIM) are the future, we'll have to walk on a rocky road to get there - many EE subscribers are reporting that their Apple Watch Series 3 is failing to connect to the network. This seems to be an EE issue rather than something Apple messed up, but it hasn't been a smooth launch either way. Users are typically faced with one of several errors including: "activation failed" and "this account is not ready to use with Apple Watch". If you're experiencing issues activating your LTE-enabled Series 3 watch, you can dial 150 for help - EE has trained personnel standing...
Here's how to deal with iTunes' corrupted or incompatible backup error
Apple just launched the new iPhone 8 and a lot of older iPhone buyers are upgrading to it. If you are a sensible person, you would have backed up your old iPhone to your computer using iTunes (let's be real, none of us are paying Apple for more iCloud storage for cloud backup). But when you get your shiny new iPhone 8 (or any of the other iPhones that are still on sale) and try to restore from your old back, your iTunes throws this in your face. The problem is here that iTunes is an even bigger pile of trash than what we already thought it was. Fortunately, your backup is still...
Android Pay passes 1,000 supported financial institutions
Android Pay has added another 16 financial institutions, surpassing the 1,000 mark, now stranding 1,012. The service is adding banks, retailers and institutions in the US, UK, Canada, Russia, Belgium, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, Australia, Poland, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Ireland. The list of supported businesses (and countries) is ever growing but there are more than a few that are still holding off, namely Barclays Bank in the UK. So far Apple has been more instrumental in adding support for its Apple Pay than Google has been with Android Pay. Here's the latest additions to the...
Android 8.0 Oreo is on the charts, pre-Marshmallow versions are shrinking
The latest numbers are in and Oreo is on the charts! True, version 8.0 measured just 0.2% of all Androids out there but we think that number will grow quickly at the end of the year when a variety of flagships get the update. As for older versions, 7.0 Nougat grew 2 percentage points while 6.0 Marshmallow remained flat. On the plus side, Lollipop, KitKat and all the other older versions are shrinking slowly but surely. Version Codename API Distribution 2.3.3 - 2.3.7 Gingerbread 10 0.6% 4.0.3 - 4.0.4 Ice Cream...
More Pixel 2 and XL 2 images show both front and back
Take that case off, Pixel XL 2. Evan Blass delivers yet again, this time with an unobstructed view of the XL sequel and even the smaller Pixel 2. You can see what we suspected from previous leaks - the Pixel XL 2 will have slim bezels (though we wouldn't go as far as calling it bezel-less) while the Pixel 2 will have chunky bezels, unbecoming of an expensive flagship. Google Pixel XL 2 You can probably tell by the image, the Pixel XL 2 has a 6" with 18:9 aspect ratio and QHD+ resolution. The 5" Pixel 2 will stick to regular 1080p. Both Pixels get front-firing stereo speakers...
ZTE confirms the nubia Z17s is coming October 12
ZTE is gearing up to announce a new nubia smartphone in China on October 12 and its latest teaser confirms it will be the Z17s - an update to the Z17 with a new, bezelless screen on the front. The image sent out by ZTE sports the letter S, the nubia logo and the 12.10.17 date - all of which seems to solidify the Z17s as the upcoming phone. We know very little about the Z17s at this point. A recently leaked image shows what looks like the display with minuscule bezels on all sides. We'll find out soon enough. Source
