The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra was in the hands of NatGeo Explorer Malaika Vaz, who traveled to Fuvahmulah Island, aka Shark Island. The phone was used to shoot 8K footage and photos, which were used in the video below. A few things to know before you attempt such a dive. First, Vaz is a...

Apple secures more mini-LED suppliers, 14" and 16" MacBook Pros are on track to launch in September

It seems that Apple has gotten its ducks in a row and has secured two more suppliers for mini-LED panels that will be used in the upcoming 14” and 16” MacBook Pros. Earlier this month, DigiTimes reported that Osram Opto Semiconductors has been signed, now the publication adds that Zhen Ding Technology and Tripod Technology have joined the supply chain. Or rather they expanded their roles in it. Zhen Ding is already supplying Apple with mini-LED backlight boards for the iPad Pro 12.9 (2021), the company’s first device to use a mini-LED display. Zhen Ding is reportedly in the process of...

Samsung promises five years of security updates for some enterprise devices

Samsung has enterprise variants of some of its devices that get special treatment. And more importantly, Samsung provides longer support compared to its consumer devices. Most of Samsung's business-oriented phones and tablets get 4 years of security updates from the date of release but the tech giant just announced that it's extending that period with another year for some of its enterprise devices. This includes the Galaxy S20, S20+, S20...

Google will require new apps on the Play Store to use App Bundles instead of APKs

Lines are being drawn in the sand – starting in August, Google will require that new apps listed on its Play Store are published in the Android App Bundle (AAB) format, instead of the APK format that has been a part of the OS since its inception. Why does that matter? Well, right now only the Google Play Store supports App Bundles. That’s right, the Amazon Appstore, which will be the default Android app store on Windows 11 does not. And neither do the third-party app stores that will be natively supported in the upcoming Android 12 update. Google, of course, touts App Bundles as an...

Some Xiaomi TVs and smartphones in India are now 3-6% more expensive

In some rather unfortunate news for our Indian readers, Xiaomi has confirmed its hiking up the prices for some of its smartphones and TVs by 3-6% starting today July 1. There are two main drivers behind the increased prices with the global chip shortage and increased shipping costs. Due to massive demand-supply mismatch, the majority of components used in smartphones, smart TV, and other electronics gadgets (chipsets, display panels, display drivers, back panels, batteries, etc.) have seen constant upward movement in their prices. While we have tried to absorb the increasing costs,...
