The OnePlus 3/3T Oreo update was pulled by the company following user complaints, and it's sad to see that Oreo roll out for the OnePlus 5 has also met the same fate. Yes, the Chinese company has provided a heads-up saying the roll out has been canceled. Here's what exactly a OnePlus staff member said on the company's official forums: Because of a bug on Oxygen 5.0, we have cancelled its global release. And we're preparing for Oxygen 5.0.1, the partial release will go alive soon. So yeah, while the company did concede there's a bug that prompted them to cancel the roll out, there's...

So with this, the V30 now comes in a total of five color options, with the other four including Aurora Black, Cloud Silver, Moroccan Blue and Lavender Violet. LG says the Raspberry Rose variant will be showcased at this year's CES conference. Following which, it'll go on sale in the company's home country of South Korea, and then in key...
Google rolls out January security update for Pixels and Nexuses
As a new month has just begun, Google is ready to push out the latest Android security update to the Nexus and Pixel devices it still supports. The company has already made the usual factory images and full OTA zip files available for download, and you can grab those if you're really impatient and don't mind using command line tools to take care of the installation (and have nothing against a data wipe if you go the factory image route). Otherwise, it's best just to wait a few hours, or, in the worst case scenario, a few days, to get the over-the-air update. The rollout should commence...

Google and Micromax are bringing a $32 Android Go phone to India this month
We knew that Android Oreo (Go Edition) will enable some highly affordable phones but we didn't expect prices to go this low - INR 2,000 or $32/26! Google has already partnered with multiple phone makers that operate in India and expects the first phones later this month. Micromax will be delivering said $32 phone by the end of January, but more vendors are on board with producing low-budget Go phones - Intex, Lava, Karbonn and others (carrier Jio may be working on something too). Their handsets should target the same price range. These Android Go phones are great for consumers on a...

Meizu announced January 4 as the official launch date of its new phone. It is most likely the Meizu M6S, which will go by as Blue Charm S in China. The M6S/Blue Charm S will most likely come with a fingerprint scanner on the right side, below the power button. It will be the first of six new phones that will be introduced in the first half of 2018. According to a TENAA listing, the new phone will have 5.7" display and a 2930 mAh battery. It is...
Sharp Aquos S3 arrives on January 16 with fingerprint scanner on the back
Two Sharp phones popped up on TENAA in the last days of December. A variant of the phone was also certified in Taiwan, confirming the name Aquos S3. The manufacturer now followed that up by sending invitations to a press, event on January 16. Mini version of the Sharp Aquos S3 is also expected to be announced since the name was leaked on a Google Play support page where the model name matches previous leaks. From the previous leak, we know we're looking at a 1080p screen, powered by a Snapdragon 630 chipset with 4GB/64GB memory. Sony Xperia XA2 and XA2...
Nokia 6 (2018) will be unveiled this Friday
Save the date - the Nokia 6 (2018) is coming on January 5! We originally heard about a January 19 event, so either it was pulled up or HMD is planing two rapid-fire events. However, the fingerprint reader moved to the back, below the 16MP (single) camera. The "3" means "in 3 days", the text at the bottom says "The new Nokia 6" The Nokia 6 (2018) is also getting a tangible upgrade in processing power - Snapdragon 630. Okay, it doesn't...

Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ pose for a photo
We've seen front panels and back panels of Samsung's Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. But so far we've not seen the finished article in real life photos - until now, perhaps. This purports to be the first such photo. The image may be doctored (it certainly seems like someone adjusted the brightness if nothing else), but it lines up quite well with the 3D renders provided case makers. The thing to note here is that the smaller Galaxy S9 has a single camera - the dual camera is exclusive to the Plus model. (Alleged) photo of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ As for other upgrades, Samsung...
Samsung trademarks "DeX Pad" just in time for the Galaxy S9
The Samsung DeX Station expanded the Galaxy S8 capabilities to the desktop but the sequel may be even better. The company filed a trademark application at the end of December, suggesting that the Galaxy S9 and S9+ will get a redesigned dock. Rumors suggest that it will be a wireless dock - leveraging the wireless charging capabilities of the Galaxy flagship as well as wireless video out. The phone's touchscreen will reportedly be usable as a touchpad (the phone will lie flat on the charging pad). The current DeX station relies on DisplayPort to output video over USB-C, which the dock...
LG unveils world's first 88-inch 8K OLED display
LG has announced the world's first 88-inch 8K OLED display. The display is all set to be gawked at CES 2018 later this month. Since this is an OLED panel, LG was able to make it as big as it is and with 8K resolution without compromising on brightness, which LG is quick to point out is an issue for LCD panels of similar size and resolution. To combat that, LCD panels have to bump up their brightness, which increases power consumption, which is not an issue with the LG OLED panel. There is not much known about this panel other than its size and high resolution. Note that this is just...
Sandstone OnePlus 5T arriving on January 5
In the last days of December, OnePlus posted a video where random people were trying to guess the item in a box with the OP logo. The stunt was apparently meant to gather some hype for an upcoming OnePlus 5T with a Sandstone back panel, arriving on January 5, according to a Weibo post by the company. The image says "Three days left" on top, while the bottom is roughly translated as "The classic returns". If that does not feel conclusive, the big stylized symbol in the middle is translated into English as "stone". The invite color also suggests the phone might be Sandstone White with...
Weekly poll results: Samsung Note8 is the best smartphone of 2017
After the Galaxy S8's decisive win in the small flagship poll, we were wondering if the Galaxy Note8 will do a similarly successful run in the plus-sized category. Well, it turned out we had no idea - the Note8 collected a total of 57% of all votes. Makes you ask yourself if the competition has made phones this year. Well, they have, obviously. Much to our surprise, the LG V30 claimed the second spot with 9% of the votes - not that we have anything against the V30, we just hadn't considered it was so popular. Less unexpected is the OnePlus 5T's podium finish - OP has a strong...
Nokia 6 (2018) specs revealed by TENAA - Snapdragon 630 and 16:9 screen onboard
Nokia 6 (2018) passed through TENAA last month, but now the Chinese regulatory is back with even more info on the handset. It listed all the specs revealing that the chipset will be new, along with a slightly redesigned body, but the screen and battery will remain the same as in the original Nokia 6. Nokia 6 (2018) on TENAA HMD Global will launch the Nokia 6 (2018) with Snapdragon 630, coming with octa-core CPU and Adreno 508 GPU. That would make it the second HMD phone with that chipset, following the Nokia 7, introduced back in October 2017. The new phone will have a...
New update hitting Nokia 2
HMD has started pushing out a new update to its Nokia 2 smartphone. Weighing in at around 90MB, it brings the December security patch The change-log doesn't say anything else, so it's reasonable to believe that there are no other changes included in the update. Given the fact that it's an OTA roll out, it might take time for the update notification to pop up on your unit. Via
