Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 leaks again ahead of official unveiling
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, which is set to be made official today, has leaked again. Spotted on Weibo (China's Twitter), the leaked image focuses on the front of the phone, confirming yet again the tri bezel-less design and a comparatively smaller chin. It's already confirmed the handset will be powered by the Snapdragon 835 SoC. As for other key specs, rumors so far have revealed a 6.2-inch 2,960x1,440 pixel AMOLED screen, 6GB RAM, and a either 4,400 or 4,500mAh battery. Via
No Nougat update for Priv, BlackBerry confirms
BlackBerry has confirmed that the Priv won't get the Nougat update. The confirmation came from Alex Thurber, who is the company's General Manager of BlackBerry Mobility Solutions. As for the reason, Thurber noted that bringing together all the partners required for the whole effort would be next to impossible. To quickly refresh, the Priv was made official back in November 2015. It came with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box, but was updated to Android Marshmallow in April 2016. The device will continue to receive security updates though. Source | Via
Week 36 in review: Xiaomi Mi A1 steals the spotlight
The Xiaomi Mi A1 announcement was certainly the event of this week - its specs page topped our trending chart, while its debut story was the most read of the week. We also got to see an iPhone 8 dummy sized up against its predecessors, giving us an even better idea of what Apple's next big thing will look like. Xizomi isn't done for the season either - it's Mi Mix 2 bezelless flagship is coming next week and it will be joined by a Mi Note 3. Rumors about those have been coming left and right and there are was no shortage of official teasers either. Lenovo and vivo had announcements of...
Weekly poll: which is the best Android launcher?
There are a handful of manufacturers that have committed to an essentially stock build of Android - think Nokia and OnePlus. Others, like Motorola, stick close to that (with some Enhancements) and recently parent company Lenovo announced it will be switching to stock as well. Why does it matter, though? We're sure everyone has their reasons for liking the UI they like, but making an argument for stock is easy - it's smoother, gets faster updates, uses up less storage, looks consistent across multiple devices and so on. That said, some customizations are useful. Even Google has...
Top 10 trending phones of week 36
As the spring announcements are raining upon us, the top 10 trending chart saw plenty of movement this week. The Samsung Galaxy Note8 couldn't replicate the success of the Galaxy S8 and had to concede the first spot after just two weeks. There was just no stopping the newly announced Xiaomi Mi A1 - the first stock Android device by the Chinese company. In a much more surprising development, the Apple iPhone 6s took the final spot on the podium, climbing two more spots and edging out the Nokia 6. Apple is having various deals and sales events for its 2015 flagship and they seem to be...
Counterclockwise: IFA through the years, the most exciting phones and watches
IFA ended this week, bringing new smartphones, smartwatches and other consumer gadgets. Was it more exciting than previous years? Well, let's go back through the archives to see how the 2017 event stacks up. 2012 IFA used to be the home of the Galaxy Note. In 2012, Samsung brought out the Galaxy Note II as well as the Android-powered Galaxy Camera. Sony trotted out the Xperia T flagship (aka the Bond phone) and the waterproof Xperia V. Sony's camera, the NEX-5R was not Android-powered itself, but had many connectivity options to share its photos with a smartphone. Samsung...
