Android Oreo Beta 3 for Samsung Galaxy S8 may arrive very soon

Looks like Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ users who are part of the Oreo beta group may soon get to test the third beta build of the Android 8.0 firmware. The information comes courtesy of a Samsung representative who is part of the company's UK Beta Team. In the rep's own words, the update will be released "very very soon." To quickly refresh, the Oreo beta program for the Galaxy S8/S8+ - officially called Samsung Experience 9.0 Beta - kicked off earlier this month. The second beta build arrived just a week later, bringing some minor improvements as well as stability and bug fixes. The...

iPhone X is now only 1-2 weeks behind delivery in the US

There's no doubt that the iPhone X is a phone with high demand, so much so that Apple had delays as long as 5-6 weeks before you could get one when placing an order online. Thankfully that's no longer the case for those of you trying to snag an iPhone X in time for the holidays. Right now, Apple US and Canada offer the iPhone X with expected deliveries 1-2 weeks after placing an order. Alright, so that's still a lot of time to wait, but it still beats over a month's time of waiting. All variants are available in 1-2 weeks' time. That includes models for all four major US...

Razer Phone will see camera improvements over the next few weeks

Razer's CEO Min-Liang Tan has published a post on Facebook about the future of the Razer Phone's camera app and performance. In our review, we didn't find that the Razer's camera did as well as it could have, and most of the shortcomings that we found were software related. The Facebook post mentions that Razer is focused now on improving the experience of the software. Starting with the app itself - Razer will push an update via the Play Store "in the near term" that will improve the performance of the camera app. This is followed by updated in the shutter speed, low-light performance,...

Casio announces G'z EYE series of rugged action cameras starting with GZE-1

Casio has announced a new series of rugged action cameras, a first for the brand, called the G'z EYE. The first model to be launched in the series is the GZE-1. The GZE-1, which looks remarkably like the company's G-Shock series of watches, is like an armoured version of your typical GoPro camera. The body is dust, shock, water and low temperature resistant, making it suitable for use even in the harshest of conditions. The camera works underwater up to 50m without requiring any additional case and in temperatures as low as -10°C. The similarity with G-Shock watches is intentional,...

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2018) shows off its Infinity Display in a case

As this year nears its end, we're getting ever closer to the launch of Samsung's Galaxy A (2018) series, comprised of follow-ups to the Galaxy A (2017) devices of course. Today the upcoming Galaxy A5 (2018) has been leaked once again. This time around we get to see it inside a case, in four different color versions. As rumored extensively before, the A (2018) family will sport Infinity Displays, and the A5 is no exception. Samsung is intent on bringing one of the main differentiators of its high-end S and Note lines to the mid-range with the new A series. Like 2017's flagship Samsungs, the...

Oppo F5 review

"Trendy" tends to get thrown around on today's mobile scene quite a lot. It is just one of those loose-fitting adjectives that, through overuse, has practically lost all meaning. Still, looking at the Oppo F5, we can't really think of any better way to describe the company's new "flagship expert".

New leaked image shows the Honor V10 for real

Huawei's online-only sub-brand Honor is getting ready for a big launch event in China on November 28. That's when the Honor V10 is expected to be unveiled. The handset has already been certified by TENAA ahead of its introduction, and earlier today we showed you a weird image claiming to depict it in the wild. If you had your doubts about that picture, you weren't alone. Thankfully though, from another source in China comes what is definitely the first real portrayal of an Honor V10 unit. What's depicted here lines up perfectly with TENAA's pictures, unlike the previously leaked image....

Samsung to show Galaxy S9 and S9+ at CES in January, bigger model gets more RAM and dual camera

Samsung intends to showcase the upcoming Galaxy S9 and S9+ for the first time at CES in January, according to a new rumor allegedly originating from "someone briefed on the company's plans". It's unclear how much information about the devices will be shared on that occasion, however, since Samsung apparently still plans to hold an official unveiling event in March. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ will have the exact same screen sizes as their predecessors, and very similar looks. 2018 will be an iterative year for the Korean company's flagships, so you shouldn't expect a new revolutionary design....

HTC U11+ in for review

Just when we feared they might be on the way out, they are right back in the big fight. Okay, that may be a bit of an overreaction, but make no mistake - HTC has a serious contender in the U11+. The HTC U11+ is everything a 2017 flagship phone should be - it has an 18:9 screen with close to no bezels, a Snapdragon 835 with 6GB of RAM, a Pixel 2/Galaxy Note8-like 12MP camera, water-proofing and a standout design. It also has a standout price and that may prove key to its success. The HTC U11+ will soon start shipping for £699 and while that may sound like a lot, it's much more...

The iPhone SE sequel tipped to launch in Q1 next year

A portion of Apple fans still believe in the company's original stance - a 4" screen is as big as you'll ever need. They are still clinging to the iPhone SE but that will soon turn 2-years old - right on time for an upgrade? Several reports say "yes". The latest claims that the iPhone SE 2 will launch in the first three months of 2018, agreeing with the earlier rumors. The new phone is said to keep the 4" screen (or going up a tick to 4.2") and use an older chipset - the A10 chipset of the iPhone 7 (still an improvement over the A9 in the original SE). Besides the size, people seek out...

OnePlus system app accused of sending data without asking

OnePlus is apparently still collecting some user and system data through a system app called OPBugReportLite. The app is enabled by default when you power on your smartphone and collects battery stats, kernel panics, your device's crashes and sends that compiled information to a server in Singapore every 6 hours. The app was discovered by a Twitter user Elliot Alderson. You can check if the app is present on your OnePlus device by going to Settings - Apps - Show system apps and searching for BugReportLite in the list. By default the app dumps mostly battery stats, which is fine...

Android Wear updated to version 2.6 with Recent App complication and more

Android Wear got bumped up to version 2.6 with several helpful improvements. The Recent App complication is handy for multitasking and Google improved touch algorithms to reduce the chances of accidental side-swipe and long-press gestures. Reading text on the tiny watch screens will be a bit easier now. The font size changes depending on message length, which should give you an extra line of text. You also get a better view of what the mobile connections are doing. Swipe down in Quick Settings to check Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and cell connection status. There's also a download progress...

Samsung may be working on a Star Wars-themed Galaxy Note8

Samsung has done superhero-themed phones but with the Galaxy Note8 it may branch out into space opera. The BB-8 bot had a cameo in promo materials focused on upcoming upgrades to the Bixby AI assistant. Before you get too excited, the phone does not seem modified in any way. No Batman logo, no Avengers color schemes. At best it looks like a theme. Last week we heard about another Star Wars-themed phone - a OnePlus 5T. Seems like a popular choice, though we suppose both of these will wait for the premiere of The Last Jedi (December 15), if these devices exist at all. Still,...

The Honor V10 shows its bezel-free face in the wild

The Huawei Honor V10 will be announced on November 28 but we are already seeing a lot of it in the rumor mill. The photo below allegedly shows the Honor V10 being handled in the wild. It doesn't look exactly like the images we've seen from the TENAA listing of the V10 but the Honor badge underneath the screen gives it some credibility. The Honor V10 will pack flagship-class specs when it arrives. On the front it will pack a 5.99-inch 18:9 display of 2160x1080px resolution. On the back it will have a 16MP+20MP camera combination. Inside there will be a Kirin 970 chipset with 6GB of...

Samsung's next VR headset will have inside-out tracking

The future of VR is inside-out. This means that the headset needs no external assistance similar to mobile solutions like the Gear VR. Samsung is working on a more capable headset that will offer 6 degrees of freedom (DoF), compared to the 3 DoF that the current Gear offers. This will allow room-scale tracking and a more immersive experience. The company is also working to reduce motion sickness and bring a more intuitive UI. This next step will build on experience from Samsung's Gear VR and the HMD Odyssey. Currently, there are over 1,000 titles that support Gear VR. The...
