Oppo executive reveals first render of company smartwatch

Oppo held its Inno Day back in December, where it teased its upcoming smartwatch and true wireless headphones. Now, a Vice President at Oppo shared the first image of the Oppo smartwatch - it will have a square screen with curved edges and two buttons on the side. It bears a strong resemblance to the Apple Watch, but unlike Cupertino's wearable that has one crown and one button, the Oppo smartwach has two keys, with a hole in between them. We think this might be a microphone, meaning you can talk on your Oppo smartwatch without needing the smartphone. The big question remains...

Leaked Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro specs suggest 16 GB RAM

Xiaomi is about to launch the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro and we've been seeing multiple leaks for the past few weeks. The latest one comes from China, of course, and it is a screenshot of the About page of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro. The image suggests the phone will have 16 GB RAM and 512 gigs of storage, along with other impressive specs. We haven't seen a smartphone with 16 GB RAM yet, and there are just a handful of devices on the market that have 12 GB, so we are either looking at a revolution or a fake image. Looking at the image, some of the stuff isn't that surprising - Snapdragon 865...

Nokia 9.2 might have under-display camera

HMD Global has postponed the launch of the next Nokia flagship smartphone in order to give it a better chance at competing in the 2020 market, according to recent reports. This means it will only be out sometime during the fall, which gives the company plenty of time to switch to the Snapdragon 865 chipset, which all of its competitors will be using anyway. This delay may also give HMD enough time to pull a first in the mobile world: an under-display selfie camera. Apparently this is now in testing for the Nokia 9.2, according to a source that's been reliable at times in the...

Moto G Stylus is what Motorola is calling that recently leaked stylus-carrying phone

Motorola's G series is its most successful ever, and over the past few years has been what's kept the manufacturer going. While the company is expected to soon reveal its first true flagship smartphone in years, the Edge+, it's also getting ready to expand the G family even more. Remember that recently leaked stylus-toting Motorola device? Because its official-looking render leaked so soon after the first ever mention of the Edge+, some people assumed it was that, but it's not (and this should have been made obvious by its huge bottom bezel, unworthy of a true high-end device in this day...

The latest report looks into the smartphone market in India, which performed quite well towards the end-of-the-year quarter. Kantar: Global iPhone 11 sales dominated in Q4 2019

Kantar Group released its latest smartphone shipments report, covering the October-December 2019 period. EU allows Huawei to deploy 5G technology if it follows a set of guidelines

The European Commission decided to allow 5G companies to deal with union members, provided they follow a set of risk-mitigating measures, simply called an EU toolbox. This means companies like Huawei and ZTE will be free to deliver 5G network equipment to each of the 27 members if the country's governing body is okay with the progress a company has done towards network security and transparency. The decition is said to be an important step in "what must be a continuous effort in the EU's collective work to better protect the critical infrastructures", added Margaritis Schinas,...

Huawei Mate 30 Pro bends in durability test, but does not break

The Huawei Mate 30 Pro has one of the best mobile cameras that you can't have. And if this video by JerryRigEverything is any indication, the Mate 30 Pro is one of the best-built phones that you can't have. A signature feature of the design is the Horizon display, which wraps around the sides of the phone. It's an eye-catching design, though does the extra curviness of Gorilla Glass 6 make it more fragile? Not really, as it turns out. Though admittedly this seems to have more to do with the rigid frame that Huawei designed. Check out the video below to see how well the Mate 30 Pro...

Realme's fitness band leaks again, curved display revealed

Here's our first look at the display of the upcoming Realme fitness band. The image shows the unreleased band on Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth's left hand. Sadly the screen isn't on - that would tell us if the band has a color screen. What it does tell us is that the band appears to have a slightly curved screen, much like the Huawei Band 5. The Realme fitness band is coming in February and will have a signature Realme yellow band. It appears the band doesn't wrap around the fitness tracker itself. Source

Caviar Cyberphone unveiled - a Tesla Cybertruck-inspired iPhone 11 Pro mod

Much like with smartphones, car design has gotten stale - the days of cars with rocket-like fins are long gone. That's why the Tesla Cybertruck caused such a stir, it was a radical departure of current designs. Purveyors of luxury gadgets Caviar have carried the "cyber" design over to their latest iPhone mod, hoping for an equally headline-grabbing result. Cyberphone by Caviar (based on iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max) "Cyberphone" is based on the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max and has a Tesla-inspired angular exterior made out of titanium. Unlike Caviar's typical designs...

Three out of every four modern iPhones and iPads runs iOS 13

Apple posted its financial results earlier this week with impressive wearables sales during the holiday period. Tim Cook shared an update that over 1.5 billion Apple devices are currently active, and more than 70% of the modern iPhones and iPads run the latest iOS 13 (also called iPadOS for the slates). iOS and iPadOS usage Under the term modern fall all smartphones introduced in 2016 or later - that's all the way back to the iPhone SE, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. There were plenty of phones released in that time, but the tablet scene is a bit different. We've seen only ten...

Poco X2 appears in live photos, hints at stereo loudspeakers

Four alleged live images of the upcoming Poco X2 surfaced online revealing key design features as well as some new hardware specs. Live images of Poco X2 You'll notice the the dual front-facing camera inside the display punch hole in the upper-right corner and the rather big earpiece on the top. Given the size of the earpiece, it's probably safe to assume that it doubles as a loudspeaker, which in turn means that the Poco X2 will come with stereo loudspeakers. Something that was missing in the previous Poco F1 smartphone. The images don't reveal much past that but they ...

Powerbeats4 coming soon from Apple, icon found in latest iOS 13 update

While Apple's own-branded headphones have stolen the spotlight, the company also owns the Beats by Dre brand. And we'll soon be reminded of this as a Powerbeats4 headset is nearing launch. Powerbeats is a Bluetooth headset, but now TWS - there's a wire connecting the two buds. If you want true wireless, you have to look at the more premium Powerbeats Pro model. Judging by the icon found in iOS 13.3.1, Powerbeats4 will maintain the connecting cord. The cable seems to have been repositioned, which may be a part of improvements to ergonomics. All Powerbeats feature a plastic band that...

Xiaomi's latest MIUI 11 software is all ready for the company's flagship, which allowed XDA member kacskrz to dig up some info on the phones. There's also the M2001J1E, which may or may not be this year's Explorer edition. This is usually a version of the Pro with a transparent back and the top memory configuration. Xiaomi's VP explains why under-screen cameras aren't coming anytime soon

With the push for full-screen design on modern smartphones, many solutions have appeared to get rid of or hide the front-facing cameras. The mechanical pop-up cameras, punch-holes and all sorts of cutouts and notches are the stepping stones and many believe having the screen under the display would be the final and most elegant solution. Unfortunately, though, according to Xiaomi's VP, that's not happening anytime soon as there are still major technological challenges to be overcome. Lu Weibing says the whole smartphone industry is working hard on the solution but despite Xiaomi...

Foxconn has a massive plant in Wuhan, the epicenter of the virus outbreak, but the facility is following holiday schedules and people will not return to work until all businesses have resumed standard operating hours. Currently, people are still celebrating the Lunar New Year,...

The 64MP tele camera of the Galaxy S20 is for 8K video, not 4-in-1 binning

It seems the 64MP S5KGW2 sensor that will be used as a zoom camera in the Galaxy S20 and S20+ will not produce pixel-binned 4-in-1 16MP photos. Instead it will use plain old cropping to achieve zoomed-in shots. Additionally it will offer 8K video support, likely 8K@30fps. We've seen specs sheets that suggest that the Galaxy S20/S20+ will offer 3x optical zoom out of the 64MP S5KGW2 sensor (about which we have no official info) and up to 30x digital zoom. Now it looks like the zoom will be of the lossless variety as it will crop actual pixels from the sensor. The telephoto sensor...

Canalys: Huawei keeps growing in China, as smartphone market shrinks

Canalys released its report on the Chinese smartphone market in Q4 2019. The numbers show a steep decline in actual sales with the total 85.3 million units moved representing a 15% year over year decrease. Total smartphone sales for 2019 came out to 369 million units which is a 7% down on a yearly basis. The main reasoning behind the slumping sales is the slowdown of 4G smartphone sales alongside weaker than anticipated demand for 5G devices. Looking at the per-company basis, Huawei extended its dominance and even managed to grow its shipments to 33.3 million shipments and a 39% market...

With 10.2 million users globally & more than 7.5 Lakh users rating 5/5 on Flipkart, the #realmeCSeries has been highly successful in disrupting the...
