Bose announces Sport Open Earbuds that beam sound into your ears

Bose has just announced the Sport Open Earbuds. This is a pair of TWS earbuds that clip to the ears and beam high-quality sound down into your ear canals, without obstructing sound from your environment. This is the opposite of noise cancellation, for those who prefer to be more aware of their surroundings and perhaps don’t like anything near their ear canals. Bose calls this its OpenAudio technology and it delivers sound directly down into your ears with minimal sound leak and while also allowing your ears to be totally open. This is similar to the Bose Frames – these are a pair...

There are different builds for Indian, European, and global units, you can get to them by visiting the Source linked below. Before you try out this release, however, note that it is beta software and may be much less stable than normal builds. If your Nord is your only...

Dell announces new Latitude 9000, 7000 and 5000 laptops

Dell has just announced a slew of new products ahead of CES 2021. Most notably, the company has updated the Latitude 9000, 7000 and 5000 laptops. For starters, the Latitude 9000 gets Intel's latest 11th Generation processors but arguably the more notable new feature is the privacy-oriented webcam. The Latitude 9420 and 9520 notebooks feature the so-called SafeShutter camera. That's an automatic shutter that blocks the camera when not in use. Meaning, it will only go online during a conference call or a standard one-on-one call. Details surrounding the whole family are still not...

Samsung Galaxy A72 case mold reveals design

After the success of the Galaxy A71 and its 5G counterpart, Samsung is expected to follow up with the Galaxy A72. The device already appeared in detailed renders as well as a Geekbench listing and the latest leak gives us a look at an aluminum case mold of the phone. We can see the back will feature a sizeable camera island with five cutouts though we’re only expecting four camera sensors. Based on past reports the main shooter will come in at 64MP and it will be joined by a 12MP ultrawide sensor and two 5MP snappers for macro snaps and depth data. The USB-C port and headphone jack sit...

The Galaxy S21 Ultra to support adaptive refresh rate at WQHD+ resolution

The Samsung Galaxy S20-series launched with almost flawless displays, but they had a somewhat strange limitation. To run the devices at 120Hz, the Galaxy S20 trio has to tone down to 1080p resolution. With the Galaxy S21 family, or at least the S21 Ultra, you will be able to keep the resolution at WQHD+ while benefiting from that smooth, adaptive refresh rate at 120Hz. A screenshot from the Galaxy S21 Ultra's settings menu A screenshot from the settings menu posted by Ice Universe confirms those claims showing that the adaptive refresh rate is on while the resolution is 1440 x...

Xiaomi stops rollout of troubled Android 11 update for the Mi A3

It happened again – after it took Xiaomi four attempts to update its Android One Mi A3 phone, to Android 10 without bricking phones or suffering major bugs. History repeated itself when the Android 11 update started rolling out a few days ago and bricked some phones. Xiaomi has now stopped the rollout and posted an official statement in the Mi forum. You can follow the Source link to read it, but it’s pretty short. Users affected by the update can bring or mail their phone to a service center where it will be fixed no questions asked (even if your warranty ran out). But that is...

Oppo Find X3 also brings Snapdragon 888 to Geekbench

After crushing the Antutu record earlier today, the upcoming Oppo Find X3 (or possibly X3 Pro) has popped up on Geekbench. Sporting a Qualcomm chipset with the Snapdragon 888 level of performance, 12GB of RAM and Android 11, the device carries the model name CPH2173. That's inline with last year's Find X2 (CPH2023) and Find X2 Pro (CPH2025). The scores of 1,134 and 3,660 in the two parts of the test are in line with the official numbers shared by Qualcomm. This suggests that the monstrous Antutu score was down to some of the other components of the benchmark - the memory, graphics or...

Cristiano Amon is the next CEO of Qualcomm, will retain his position as President

Qualcomm’s current CEO, Steve Mollenkopf, is retiring and the company’s Board of Directors unanimously selected Cristiano Amon to replace him. Mollenkopf has been working at Qualcomm for 26 years and became its CEO in 2014. Amon should be a familiar face to you if you’ve watched phone announcement live streams – he is often invited to speak at major releases of Snapdragon-powered phones. He is also the driving force behind the company’s push into 5G. Amon is in charge of Qualcomm’s semiconductor business, which includes the Mobile, RF Front End (modems), Automotive and Internet of...

Samsung Galaxy S21, S21+ and S21 Ultra cameras detailed in leaked infographics

We have a pretty good read on the S21 camera hardware from the numerous leaks, but Evan Blass has shared the official infographics, which confirm the info so far and present it in a nice succinct way. Note that the infographics are in Italian, but that isn’t much of an issue. Essentially, Samsung revamped the camera setup of the S20 series. The biggest improvement is on the Galaxy S21 Ultra, which is getting a traditional telephoto lens in addition to the periscope module. Unfortunately, the focal lengths aren’t listed but the periscope one should have 10x magnification. This also...

Antutu posts its December rankings: Xiaomi Mi 11 on top

Antutu posted its monthly Top 10 charts, awarding the best-performing flagship and midrange smartphones. The data is collected between December 1 and December 31, and the results are the median between the top 1000 benchmarked units of every model. The Xiaomi Mi 11 expectedly topped the chart since it is currently the only phone on the market with the Snapdragon 888 chipset. It is closely followed by the Mate 40 Pro+ and Mate 40 Pro phones by Huawei, powered by the Kirin 9000. There are no phones with an Exynos platform in the top 10, but that was to be expected as the 2019...

Samsung releases another teaser for the Galaxy S21 series

Right before the end of last year, Samsung posted the first Galaxy S21 teaser, hyping improved telephoto camera capabilities of the Galaxy S21-series. Now we have a longer version although it's hard to make out much more from it. The zoomed in snapshot might be a reference to Galaxy S21 Ultra's rumored dual telephoto camera - 10x periscope and 3x conventional. A 3D ToF camera will likely be part of camera setup too, so everything seems to fall in place. You’re going to want all the details. Galaxy Unpacked on January 14, 2021. OnePlus Nord N10 5G and N100 launch in the US with aggressive price tags

OnePlus finally launched its most affordable budget offerings yet, the Nord N10 5G and N100, in the US. The starting price of the N10 5G asks for $299 while the N100 is just $179. That's not only way lower than the European prices (€349 and €199, respectively), but also the duo will face much less competition on US soil. The Chinese brands, which usually offer value products at competitive pricing are absent in the US market. Since a good chunk of the smartphone sales in the US go through carriers, OnePlus has also struck a deal with T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile, which will...

50W wireless charger for the Honor V40 gets certified by TÜV Rheinland

The Honor V40 is days away from launch, but there’s still important paperwork to finish. The phone just secured a certification by TUV Rheinland for its wireless charger, which has a listed output power of 50W. Honor V40's 50W wireless charger gets the okay from TUV Rheinland However, the actual peak power may be 45W as seen in the leaked schematic below. Still, it will be one of the fastest wireless chargers around as only a handful of phones can achieve 50W wire-free (all of them flagships). Previously, a wired V40 charger was certified at 66W, so fast battery top ups will be a...

TCL officially confirmed that it will be presenting its brand new mini-LED display technology during this year's online-only CES 2021. In addition to the mini-LED display tech, the company hints at other QLED-driven TVs, soundbars and other home appliances. TCL's spot at CES 2021 is going to be on January 2021 and we are eager to see how this tech compares to Samsung's microLED TV, which is supposed to make its appearance at CES as well. Via

Here is Samsung's new Over the Horizon theme for the Galaxy S21

Each year, for more than a decade, Samsung revamps its Over the Horizon theme tune ahead of the arrival of the new Galaxy S line and for 2021 the maker has gone for a piano-dominated theme. You can listen to the entire song below. Part of it will be the default ringtone on the Galaxy S21, S21+ and S21 Ultra. It can also be the tune the phone plays while powering on, or be used as a notification sound. For comparison last year's Over the Horizon was inspired by the sounds of nature. The Samsung Galaxy S21 series will arrive on January 14 and are expected to begin shipping on...

TrendForce: Smartphone production decreased 11% in 2020

Last year was turbulent for a lot of businesses, and the smartphone makers were also affected. According to TrendForce, companies pushed 1.25 billion devices - that’s 11% fewer compared to 2019. The top six brands were Samsung, Apple, Huawei, Oppo, and vivo, with Huawei suffering the most due to the trade ban, disallowing the company to work with Google and, more recently cutting its access to chips. The next 12 months should see a solid rebound in the market. The analysts expect a strong wave of device replacement and demand growth in emerging markets. The annual global smartphone...

The headlining feature here is Samsung’s 108MP ISOCELL HM2 sensor which is placed next to an 8MP ultrawide module and two 2MP sensors for macro shots and depth data. The front is not too shabby with a 6.67-inch LCD sporting FHD+ resolution and an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate. The panel can automatically dial down its refresh rate to 30Hz for videos or...

Oppo Find X3 sets new AnTuTu record

Oppo is expected to bring the Find X3 series in the first quarter of 2021, and one of the phones from the lineup has appeared on AnTuTu. The Snapdragon 888-powered phone reached a score of 771,491, which is a new record. Qualcomm’s official numbers are a bit north of 735,000, but the AnTuTu result is a sum of four phone components - CPU, GPU, UX and memory. The source has not revealed more details about the benchmarked phone but we can expect 12GB RAM and plenty of storage that will help the Find X3 to yield such a great result. Speaking about actual specs, we expect a 6.7” screen...
