A new feature has been added to popular note-taking app Evernote. The functionality in question lets users unlock the application using their fingerprints. Prior to this, the only way of authentication was a four-digit PIN. To access the feature, first make sure you've enabled the passcode lock option (Settings -> Account Info -> Set up passcode lock). Once that is done, the fingerprint authentication option can be found in the "Manage passcode lock" submenu. The feature is currently only available in the beta version of the app, although it should be rolled out to the stable...

Casio's WSD-F10 rugged smartwatch going for as low as $312
If you are in the US, and are planning to purchase a rugged Android Wear smartwatch, here's a deal for you: the Casio WSD-F10 is currently going for as low as $312 in the country. Specifically, Amazon has the Black/Black variant listed on its website for that price. For comparison, the wearable carried a $500 price tag when it was launched back in March last year. Later that year, the watch was going for around $400. Amazon is also selling other variants, but they carry higher price tags - only the Black/Red one comes closest at around $323. No information on whether or not these...
1.5 billion logged-in monthly users use YouTube
VidCon is ongoing in the Los Angeles area where YouTube announced some of its latest statistic numbers on stage. VidCon is a convention where famous YouTube stars can meet their adoring fans and YouTubers can check out the latest gear and inspiration for making videos. YouTube's CEO Susan Wojcicki gave some metrics about the ongoing success and growth of YouTube. The most notable number was that YouTube has 1.5 billion active monthly logged-in users. Given that many folks may not even be logged into the YouTube, the actual number of monthly YouTube users is even higher. The...
SEGA Forever Collection brings SEGA classics to Android and iOS for free
Many of US remember the classic SEGA games that we grew up with as kids. In order to keep these games relevant (and in order to keep making it money), the Japanese company is launching SEGA Forever to bring back "nearly every SEGA game ever released from every console era - Master System, Genesis/Mega Drive, and Dreamcast - SEGA's last system before deciding to stop making hardware altogether. Games will be free to play and ad-supported, though SEGA will likely provide an option to pay a subscription for no-ads. These ads would briefly play before you start playing a game. You'll also...
Google's Android O could be "oatmeal cookie", but could also be Oreo
Every year we get excited about which dessert could possibly be named the next version of Android. It's honestly such a trivial piece of information that hard-core Android enthusiasts get riled up about. A new theory suggests that the next version of Android, 8.0, could be named oatmeal cookie. The theory is strengthened by a couple of hard pieces of evidence. The first piece of evidence was found in Android's source code as "oc-dev" which was used on several occasions, the most notable of which is the code which states that a Google Pixel devices is running the Android O Developer preview...
New video answers important question: will the Samsung Galaxy S8 fry?
You may have lived thus far while thinking that the most important question one could ask about a smartphone was "Will it blend?". But apparently you were wrong. "Will it fry?" is much more relevant we're told - at least in Scotland. So what are some enterprising chaps from Glasgow to do then? Naturally, coat the Galaxy S8 in authentic Scottish chip shop batter mix, and then place it into an electric fryer (with oil preheated to 200 degrees Celsius). The phone was left in there for a total of 60 seconds, and you can see what came out in the video below, which documents the whole...
OnePlus 5 teardown exposes the phone's innards
Maybe you've heard that the OnePlus 5 got official a couple of days ago? Just in case our review or the controversies surrounding its cameras, benchmark cheating, and using the same screen as its predecessor haven't quenched your thirst for OnePlus 5-related news, we've got you covered. The handset has undergone a comprehensive teardown over at MyFixGuide. The entire thing (complete with dozens of images) can be found at the Source linked below, but here's the gist of it. The OnePlus 5 was found to feature a solid build overall, but it apparently does have some weak spots. While its...
WhatsApp will soon let you share any type of file
Facebook-owned WhatsApp isn't really known for quickly adding new features, unlike Facebook-owned Instagram or even Facebook Messenger. But WhatsApp is currently testing some new functionality that is sure to be welcome by its many users. When this goes live for everyone, you'll be able to send any type of file to your contacts or groups. That's a marked improvement compared to what the situation is now: while you can send files, you're limited to specific types, like PDFs, Word documents, spreadsheets, and slides. It's unclear why this limitation has existed so far, but the good...
Google Photos removes ability to have backups performed only when charging
Hopefully you have a pitchfork within arm's reach at all times - because you need to be ready for this one. Now grab said pitchfork and start protesting: Google has quietly removed a feature from its Photos apps for both Android and iOS. What it did was only allow photo and video backups to 'the cloud' to happen while your device was charging. So if you enabled this, you didn't have to worry about Google Photos eating up your battery while uploading those 25,000 selfies you took within the past 12 hours. You were safe in the knowledge that it all took place while your phone was...
New BlackBerry model with Snapdragon 625 or 626, 1080p screen spotted
We may soon see another new BlackBerry smartphone on the market, following the successful launch of the KeyOne. The new model's existence has been revealed through a glance at some user agent profiles (UAProf) on one of TCL's websites. TCL, as you may know, is the Chinese company that's building BlackBerry branded devices nowadays. The UAProf doesn't out a lot of details about the upcoming phone, but it does tell us that it has a screen with 1,920x1,080 resolution. That's 1080p in 16:9 aspect ratio, so chances are that this device will be touch-only and won't come with a physical keyboard...
Verizon starts selling the Moto E4 for just $69.99
The first US carrier to sell the recently announced Motorola Moto E4 is Verizon, perhaps unsurprisingly given how the two companies have been cooperating on the flagship Droid line over the past few years. The smartphone is now available to buy for just $69.99, which is $60 less than its normal price of $129.99. There is a small catch attached, however: to get it at this price, you will need to pick one of Big Red's prepaid plans. That being said, since it's prepaid, you won't be signing any contracts so you can just give up on the service after the first month - and you get to keep...

Huawei's online-only sub-brand has already announced its latest flagship smartphone, the Honor 9, in China. The company is also expected to hold a separate unveiling event for the same handset on June 27 in Berlin. This will introduce the Honor 9 to Europe. We've already seen pre-orders for the phone popping up in Finland starting at 499, and now it's time for the UK to join the fray. Amazon's local subsidiary has started taking pre-orders for the Honor 9. The device is priced at £379.99 in its entry-level configuration that comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage. The Nokia 5 will arrive one week later, on July 19, costing £179.99. You can already pre-order both models from Amazon (with a price guarantee no less), or Clove (where they are more expensive however). The latter online retailer says the aforementioned dates are official launch dates straight from HMD Global, the company currently making Nokia branded smartphones. You may have noticed that we...

According to the tweet, the Moto G5S Plus could cost between INR18,999 and INR 19,999. This comes to either $293 or $310. Source
Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo could be getting Nougat soon
Remember the Galaxy S5 Neo? Samsung does - the device was spotted on GFXBench' database flaunting the spanking new Android 7.0 Nougat. This doesn't outright confirm that Samsung is aiming to release a firmware update for the Marshmallow-locked S5 Neo but makes it seem quite imminent. The Galaxy S5 Neo recently received the March security update so it's clear that Samsung isn't stopping its support just yet. Source | Via 1 | 2

LG Display shows off 77" OLED display that's both transparent and flexible
LG Display just unveiled the largest flexible transparent OLED display - measuring 77", it can be used on store fronts, smart desks and various augmented reality tasks. While a 77" slab would hardly be portable, this display can be rolled up to a radius of 80mm (just over 3"). It has a transparency of 40% and a proper UHD resolution (3,840 x 2,160px). Curvy, transparent screens struggled for resolution in the early days, but LG has been at this for 5 years (after it beat Samsung Display in 2012 for a government grant). Things have progressed quickly over that time - in 2014, it...

Mobile graphics maker Imagination Technologies goes on sale
Imagination Technologies has started a formal sale process and has already engaged in preliminary talks with potential buyers. The British mobile graphics maker was pushed to the decision after Apple, which accounted for around 60% of Imagination's revenue, revealed it will stop using PoverVR graphics and develop its own, sending Imagination shares into a 70% stock slump earlier this year. Over time Imagination Technologies' stock recovered somewhat though not enough and without Apple's orders Imagination simply cannot continue competing with Qualcomm and fellow British...

OnePlus 5's tele camera only has 1.6x optical zoom, digital zoom brings it to 2x
It seems that the OnePlus 5 marketing promised more than the engineering team delivered - the chipset isn't as fast as benchmarks indicate and the camera's 2x optical lossless zoom isn't. No, really, it isn't optical or lossless, the camera isn't 20MP either. Co-founder Carl Pei clarified on Twitter that actually the second lens on the back offers 1.6x optical zoom then digital zoom makes up the remaining 0.4x to reach the claimed 2x. That final upscaling means that the effective resolution is less than 20MP - in reality, it's closer to 16MP. The company still claims "2x lossless zoom",...
Google Glass gets first update in three years
Google has pushed the first update to Google Glass since October of 2014 but don't get too excited about it. The firmware brings native support for pairing Glass with Bluetooth devices and some bug fixes and performance tweaks. There's been silence concerning a future Google Glass product while the first and only one in the series remains a beta product. Pretty much any hope of new Glass evaporated with a Glass-less Google I/O 2017. The silver lining here is that perhaps Google is working on something Glass-related. Otherwise why go to the trouble of updating the old one? Source...
