vivo X50 Lite appears in Australia

What is the difference between the Russian vivo V17, the international vivo S1 Pro, and the vivo Y9s? Trick question -all three phones are exactly the same, just renamed for different markets. Now this very same handset has appeared at the Australian retailer JB Hi-Fi under a fourth different name - vivo X50 Lite. This vivo X50 Lite brings a Snapdragon 665 chipset, a 6.38" AMOLED screen and a fingerprint scanner under the display. The SoC is coupled with 8GB RAM and 128 gigs of storage, but it is expandable through the microSD slot. The four shooters on the back are...

New LG "Wing" rumored to have a rotating dual-screen form factor

A new LG smartphone has surfaced in reports, and a (questionable) image gives us an idea of what the this phone could look like. The new LG device is codenamed: WING, whose form-factor resembles the letter "T". Such a device would take the Dual Screen form factor to new heights with a 4-inch square display that hides under the main one. Flipping the screen out turns the main display to a horizontal orientation while revealing a new square display. This image is obviously (and terribly) photo-chopped, so you must take this report with a hefty amount of skepticism. The device is...

DxOMark scores the Samsung Galaxy S20+, ranks tenth in smartphone photography

DxOMark has just released their review of the Samsung Galaxy S20+'s camera system. Unlike the S20 Ultra - which uses pixel binning in the 108MP main sensor, the Galaxy S20+ uses a 12MP sensor with large 1.6µm pixels. This camera array has three other cameras, each dedicated to ultra wide (12MP), telephoto(24MP), and a depth sensor (0.3MP) for bokeh shots. Source: DxOMark The S20+ received an overall score of 118, made up of its photography score of 127 and its video score of 100. Its strength in still photos is attributed to its excellent exposure, wide dynamic range, vivid...

Huawei P30 Pro New Edition goes up for pre-order in Germany

The P30 Pro is Huawei's last flagship smartphone that was able to launch with Google apps and services onboard, and the Chinese company has been milking this fact ever since. First we got some new colors last fall during IFA, and now there's a P30 Pro New Edition coming. The phone that was revealed by Huawei's own website in Germany earlier this month is now up for pre-order in the same country, straight from the manufacturer itself. It will set you back €749, but if you pre-order you'll get free Huawei FreeBuds 3 and a mini speaker as well. Furthermore, if you bundle a Huawei Watch GT 2,...

Apple may reportedly move 20% of iPhone production from China to India

According to a report from Indian news outlet The Economic Times, Apple executives have been meeting with key Indian government officials to explore the possibility of moving a huge chunk of Apple's iPhone production from China to India. Manufacturing revenues could soar to as much as $40 billion over the next five years. This is according to "officials familiar with the matter." We expect Apple to produce up to $40 billion worth of smartphones, mostly for exports through its contract manufacturers Wistron and Foxconn, availing the benefits under the production-linked incentive (PLI)...

Motorola's foldable Razr finally receives Android 10 update

The Razr was reborn last year, in the form of a smartphone with a foldable inner screen, but the handset disappointingly launched running Android 9 Pie. Many months later, Motorola is finally announcing the update to Android 10 for the foldable Razr today. The new software will obviously bring all of the goodies that Google packed into Android 10 when it got released last September, but there's more from Motorola itself. With this update, the external display, which the company calls Quick View, is receiving some expanded functionality. You can now call people without opening your...

Our OnePlus 8 Pro video review is up

With our OnePlus 8 video review out the way, it's time to turn out attention to the flagship killer member of this generation's OnePlus phones. First and foremost, the OnePlus 8 Pro is the most expensive phone in the company's lineup to date, starting at $900/€900. For that price you're getting one of the best displays around, the latest Snapdragon 865 chipset, a versatile camera setup and some long-awaited additions like wireless charging and an official IP rating. On paper, the 8 Pro ticks all the boxes for a 2020 flagship but does it live up to the hype and is it worth it? Ricky is here...

Analyst: the Galaxy Note20 and Note20+ will have 120Hz screens, there will be no Ultra

When Ross Young, Founder and CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, isn't tweeting details about the Galaxy Fold 2, he passes the time by leaking info on Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Note20 series. Let's rip off the band-aid first, there will be no Note20 Ultra. The Samsung Galaxy Note20+ will be the top model. It will have a fractionally larger display than its predecessor, 6.87", with essentially the same pixel density (1440p+ resolution). The 120Hz refresh rate will be the major addition this year, made power efficient with the use of a variable refresh rate (it's not clear how this is...

Poco F2 Pro images, colors and storage leak

The long-awaited successor to the Pocophone F1 is finally coming on May 12 as the Poco F2 Pro. Now, noted tipster Ishan Agrawal went ahead and revealed official renders of the phone's front compete with its alleged color and storage options. Maybe not Black & Grey. Only one dark colour option whose official name would contain either Black or Grey. Grey more likely.— Ishan Agarwal (@ishanagarwal24) May 11, 2020 According to the new leak, the F2 Pro will feature a full-screen design just like the Redmi K30 Pro which was already known and will also be available in grey, blue, purple and...

iPhone 12 leak: CAD-based renders show design, 120Hz screens and 3x zoom camera tipped

New CAD schematics for the upcoming iPhone 12 series have leaked, allowing the team at EverythingApplePro to create accurate 3D renders. They show that the new iOS flagships will have an iPad Pro-like design with squared off sides. One thing that was present in earlier leaks was a Smart Connector (like the iPads have). This has been removed in the latest version, but people in the know say that Apple is keeping it as an option for future "port-less" iPhones. Also, the revised dimensions of the 5.4" iPhone 12 show that the phone will be smaller than expected. It should be fairly...

Huawei P40 lite 5G is the European version of the nova 7 SE

The Huawei P40 lite 5G will soon join the P40 family. It's actually a rebadged nova 7 SE, but the more important bit is that it will be available in Europe (while the nova phones usually aren't). How does it stack up against the Huawei P40 lite (itself a renamed nova 6 SE)? The 5G model is powered by the Kirin 820 5G chipset, which has twice as many big Cortex-A76 cores and a beefier GPU (based on Mali-G57 instead of G52). Also, the main camera has a 64MP sensor (up from 48MP) and even better, it can shoot 4K video. The rest is fairly similar with small differences, e.g. a 6.5" screen...

The vivo V19 is arriving in India tomorrow

The global vivo V19 was originally scheduled to launch in India on March 26, a followup to the vivo V17 that went on sale in December. The unveiling was delayed (it's easy to guess why), but now vivo feels that the time is right. The company announce launch details for the V19 for the Indian market tomorrow. We already know the specs as the phone was made official in early April. Note that this is not the same as the vivo V19 in Indonesia, there are a few differences. vivo V19 in Gleam Black and Sleek Silver The one in Indonesia had an IDR 4,300,000 price tag, which works out...

The Meizu 17 and 17 Pro will get a 120Hz refresh rate mode with an upcoming update

The Meizu 17 and 17 Pro were finally unveiled last week after a long teaser campaign. But fans raised an eyebrow - "only 90Hz?". Today, yes, but Meizu is already working on an update that will enable 120Hz refresh rate. In fact, the update is currently being tested by early adopters who can try it out and, if there are no show-stopping issues, the update will be rolled out over the air to everyone. By the way, the 90Hz screen refresh mode is accompanied with 180Hz touch sampling, it's not clear if that will go up to 240Hz once the update is delivered. The Meizu 17 and 17 Pro are...

Honor X10 confirmed to pack Kirin 820 SoC and support all 9 major 5G bands

The past weeks haven't been short on details about the upcoming Honor X10. The phone is scheduled to go official on May 20 and thanks to a lengthy Weibo post from the brand's VP, we know the device will indeed be powered by the Kirin 820 chipset which brings support for dual-mode 5G over 9 frequency bands. Honor is also touting the X10 as a 5G device for the masses implying an affordable price point and having support for all the major 5G bands means it will be usable outside of China as well. Honor X10 TENAA images The Honor X10 is expected to feature a 6.63" IPS display...
