Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) gets Bluetooth certified as well

The Samsung SM-J327P, which is alleged to be the Galaxy J3 (2017), has received certification from the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG). The listing, however, does not reveal anything about the device's specifications. The model has already cleared the FCC in the US, and also been spotted on Geekbench. Specs-wise, from what has been revealed so far, the phone is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 430 SoC, has 2GB RAM, and runs Android Marshmallow version 6.0.1. A couple of other variants of the device - SM-J3110 and SM-J3119 - had cleared China's TENAA earlier this year. Via

Report says Samsung Galaxy Note7 fiasco won't affect Gear S3's launch

Following Samsung's announcement that the Galaxy Note7 has been permanently discontinued, there were reports from Korean media that the Note7 debacle will have a negative impact on the company's future projects, many of which will get delayed. However, according to a new report, that's not true - at least in the case of the tech giant's Gear S3 smartwatch. Citing "Samsung Insiders," the report says that the Tizen-powered wearable is on schedule for a November launch, although an exact date is yet to be confirmed. There have been reports that the Gear S3 will be launched in...

Xiaomi 2016112 The only known area where the two devices differ is expandable memory -...

The Xperia C5 Ultra update, on the other...

The rep also revealed that initially, Samsung Pay will be launched with CIBC VISA cards in the country. It's worth mentioning that Samsung has already confirmed that Samsung Pay will be launched in Canada sometime this year, so the early November time-frame revealed by the...

As is usually the case with OTA roll-outs, it may take some time for the update to hit your device. T-Mobile CEO has "BIG news" about Google Pixel

Just a couple of hours ago, T-Mobile CEO John Legere tweeted a photo of the Google Pixel with a hint: "it works great on our network". Now, the hint doesn't really reveal much, only that John Legere enjoyed using the Google Pixel. Could it be that the Pixel will come to T-Mobile? That's not likely, after all, the Google Pixel is to remain exclusive to Verizon among the US carriers to carry and sell it in stores. Tomorrow I have BIG news about @TMobile + @Google Pixel. Hint: it works great on our network!! I love it!! http://pic.twitter.com/VE62neWsgf— John Legere (@JohnLegere) October 27,...

Google's new video shows how to switch from iPhone to Pixel

Google has just posted two new videos on its YouTube account which breaks down the setup process for transferring your data from an iPhone and familiarizing yourself with your phone. The first video is "Switching from iPhone", and explains how to prepare your iPhone for transferring data to your Google Pixel or Pixel XL. The nice lady reminds you to turn off iMessage and FaceTime, and to make sure both devices are charged to at least 50% before continuing. On the setup page, tapping on "Copy your data" will bring you to the screen that will be able to see what is on your old device...

ZTE ZMax Pro hits T-Mobile for $180

The ZTE ZMax Pro is not a brand new device. It was released earlier this year for Metro PCS in the States. However, the company is bringing the 6-inch phablet to T-Mobile starting today for $180. The ZMax Pro only sold for $99 on Metro PCS, but the caveat is that the handset will remain locked to the pre-paid carrier, as the device was subsidized to make it affordable. ZTE ZMax Pro Following the success of the ZMax Pro on Metro PCS, the version headed for T-Mobile is identical down to the design and specifications. As a refresher, the ZTE ZMax Pro is an entry-range 6 inch phablet...

ZTE Axon 7 review: The brightest sound

ZTE is back in the cheap and cheerful flagship race with the Axon 7. The company has its aim set up high, and we can't help but see the OnePlus 3 as a locked target. The thing is, the Axon 7 has a potential to aim for the stars of the show - the Galaxy S7 and iPhone 7.

Huawei confirms Kirin 960 chipset for the Mate 9

Surprising absolutely no one, Huawei has today confirmed that the Mate 9 phablet will be powered by its Kirin 960 chipset. The SoC was officially unveiled at an event last week. The Mate 9 will be announced in Munich on November 3, which is next Thursday. The company has been putting out teasers for the Mate 9 left and right, confirming the fact that the aforementioned event is for a Mate series device. And today its official Twitter account posted the short video you can see below, complete with the hashtag #aStepAhead. That's the hashtag Huawei's been using for every post related to its...

Google Allo 2.0 for Android is out with direct replies, split-screen multitasking support

Today Google is releasing the first big update for its Allo chat app for Android. Allo 2.0 is currently in the process of rolling out through the Play Store. As always with Google app updates, it may take a few days before every single Allo user receives the new version. And depending on where you live, you may not get the new iteration if you go and hit Install right now. Fret not, though, for Allo 2.0 is headed to everyone. This release brings with it a bunch of new features. The app now has a splash screen when you start it, and it supports direct share - meaning you can directly share...

Report says iPhone 8 will come in three sizes, all with glass backs

Now that the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are out, expect to see more and more rumors, leaks, and speculation regarding next year's iPhone 8. Maybe even more so than usual, given that 2017 will be the tenth anniversary for Apple's mobile devices. As such, many fans are hoping the company is planning something special for the occasion. One thing that's pretty much clear is that the current phone design, which debuted in the iPhone 6 a couple of years ago, will be history. Next year we expect a full redesign of Apple's phones. Today a new report comes to back that claim up again. According to an...

Apple delays its truly wireless AirPods earbuds, October release not happening

At its big iPhone event in September, Apple also announced its first truly wireless earbuds, the AirPods. These were supposed to become available in "late October", as per the company's official materials. Well, it's late October now, and the AirPods still aren't in stock. And it turns out that's intentional. Apple has chosen to delay the release of the AirPods somewhat, so don't expect them to be released by the end of this month. The company hasn't yet shared a new timeline for their launch, but hopefully they will be out in November. An Apple spokesperson told TechCrunch the...

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) leaks in renders, video

Since the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) got released in December of 2015, within a couple of months or so we might see its successor getting unveiled. And sure enough, Samsung is working on the Galaxy A5 (2017), which has been spotted in a benchmark in August. The device got Wi-Fi certified earlier this month, and today we're treated to a bunch of renders showing it from all angles. These aren't official press renders that got out (we're not at that stage yet), but they were created based on leaked information about the next A5. It will have a 5.2-inch touchscreen, and its dimensions are 145 x...

Upcoming OnePlus 3T is rumored to start at around $479

For a few weeks now we've been hearing rumors about an enhanced version of the OnePlus 3 coming in the near future. At first this was said to bear the OnePlus 3s moniker, but later that became OnePlus 3T. Either way, this is expected to be a slightly upgraded device compared to the currently selling OnePlus 3. However, if a new rumor pans out, it seems like those upgrades you're getting won't be free - as in, the 3T will not cost the same as the 3. OnePlus' current flagship starts at $399, but according to Evan Blass (a.k.a. @evleaks) the new OnePlus 3T will be around $80 more...

T-Mobile will be offering Alcatel Idol 4S with Windows 10 VR

T-Mobile USA unveiled a very interesting smartphone today - the Alcatel Idol 4S with Windows 10 VR. There is already an existing Idol 4S, but this new edition has nothing to do with its Android sibling by name. The Idol 4S with Windows 10 VR will be coming soon to T-Mobile US. The phone is of the flagship kind with a 5.5" AMOLED screen of 1080p resolution and a Snapdragon 820 chip with 4GB RAM. The rest of its specs include 64GB expandable storage, a 21MP main camera with phase-detection AF, am 8MP selfie snapper, stereo speakers, and the latest Windows 10 Mobile OS with support for VR and...

Next major Windows 10 "Creator's" update is coming for free in spring 2017

The update brings about a major focus on 3D content creation and simplified multimedia and game sharing. Microsoft had quite a few interesting new devices to show off on stage today, including the new Surface Book i7 and the Surface Studio. Between all this and the attention-challenging length of the presentation, it was arguably quite easy to slightly neglect the big software news, namely the next major Windows 10 update. Unlike the aforementioned devices, it will be available absolutely free to the masses of Windows 10 users. And like the name suggests, a central part of the...

6-inch ZTE Axon 7 MAX leaks in official renders and banners

ZTE really hit hard in the value department with the Axon 7 and it makes sense for the Chinese OEM to keep the ball rolling. By all accounts, the next planned step is a formidable 6-inch variant of the handset. We already sneaked a peek of the device a few days ago, but today brings a fresh batch of renders and what appear to be leaked official marketing materials. Looking at said images, it is evident that the ZTE Axon 7 MAX follows its 5.5-inch sibling closely in terms of design. One thing that instantly sticks out, however, aside from the 6-inch panel, is the phone's dual-camera...

Microsoft announces Surface Book i7 and Surface Studio PC

Microsoft's event today brought us not only a new version of Windows 10 aimed at easy creation of 3D content but also two Windows 10 computers made by Microsoft. Microsoft Surface Book hybrid is getting an upgrade with the latest Intel i7 processor, and it's called Surface Book i7 accordingly. Microsoft has also upped its battery life by 30% and doubled its graphics performance. Now, the Surface Book i7 can run at full steam for 16 hours. The Surface Book i7 keeps its previous design, display, and everything else for that matter, but the battery and the processor. There is also...

New rumor suggests vivo X9 will feature dual front-facing cameras as well

If you recall, a recent leak suggested that vivo's upcoming smartphone will carry the X9 moniker, and will feature a dual rear-camera setup. Now, according to a new rumor, the device will have dual front-facing cameras as well. In addition, the rumor suggests that the handset will also have a 6GB RAM variant, which will be unveiled next month, presumably alongside the already-rumored 4GB variant on November 17. As for other specs, Snapdragon 653 chipset and 64GB storage have been tipped so far. Via

Samsung Galaxy S8 to feature an optical fingerprint sensor

Samsung is reportedly working to put an optical fingerprint scanner on the Galaxy S8 and it will help Samsung achieve a truly full-screen device. The optical fingerprint recognition is the oldest tech, preceding the capacitive and ultrasonic solution currently used in modern devices. It is bulkier due to its need to illuminate the surface and relies on a 2D image instead of a 3D one (as is the case with Qualcomm's ultrasonic tech). Samsung may have found a way to use high-res optical sensor under its smartphone displays, and in the meantime, shrink the needed pieces to fit the Galaxy S8...

ZTE ZMax Pro hits T-Mobile for $130

The ZTE ZMax Pro is not a brand new device. It was released earlier this year for Metro PCS in the States. However, the company is bringing the 6-inch phablet to T-Mobile starting today for only $130. As a refresher, the ZTE ZMax Pro is an entry-range 6 inch...

Meizu M5 passes through TENAA - 2/3/6GB of RAM and 16/32/64GB of storage

Nearing its rumored October 31 launch day, the Meizu M5 now has a TENAA certification to go with the live images, renders, and benchmark results. As usual, the Chinese regulator's database entry reveals key specs, and there are some interesting details this time. For starters, display diagonal has grown for the first time and after 3 generations of 5-inchers, the M5 will sport a 5.2-inch panel. Resolution is still 720p, though. There will be a total of three RAM/storage versions if we assume that the three numbers in each field will go hand in hand - 2GB, 3GB and a whopping 6GB...

Apple iPhone sales keep slowing down, holiday season might turn things around

Cupertino just shared its fiscal results for the three months ending in September 2016 and they are less than ideal. Now, don't get us wrong, Apple is still hugely profitable, but this marks the third consecutive quarter of declining revenues. The company reeled in $46.9 billion over the last three months, which is down 9% year over year. This is noticeable across all key product sales. The shipped devices are as follows - 45.5 million iPhones, 9.3 million iPads and 4.9 Macs. Compared to Q3 2015, that constitutes a 5.2% decline for iPhones, 6% for iPads and 14% for Macs. The latter is...

New Huawei Mate 9 teaser focuses on device's camera

We already know that the Huawei Mate 9 will be unveiled early next month. The company has also outed a teaser for the upcoming smartphone. And now, a new teaser has been released that specifically focuses on the device's camera. The Mate 9 is rumored to sport a Leica-branded dual-camera setup, featuring 4X optical zoom. The phone is said to come in two variants: a Pro version with 5.9-inch, curved QHD display, and a standard model with regular flat, FullHD display. Other rumored specs include Kirin 960 chipset, 4GB or 6GB RAM, and 64GB and 128GB (or 256GB) storage options. The...
