Nikon announces D7500 DX-format DSLR

Nikon has launched the new D7500 DSLR, the successor to the D7200. The D7500 is a powerful mid-range DSLR that borrows many things from its more expensive sibling, the D500. The D7500 has the same 20.9 megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor and EXPEED 5 image processor from the D500. It can shoot 8 frames per second burst mode with full AF/AE for up to 50 images in RAW and 100 in JPEG due to the expanded buffer. The camera also boasts of a 51 point AF system, 15 of which are cross-type, and a 180K RGB metering system, the latter of which is also borrowed from the D500. The body of the...

Google issues fix for annoying page jumps in Chrome app

Have you ever looked through a half-loaded web page on your mobile device, only to have it jump away from something you were viewing or reading as the rest of the page loaded around it? This is quite an annoying bug that drives many Chrome mobile web surfers nuts. Google has implemented a new feature into Chrome mobile called: "scroll anchoring". Without getting too technical, the update will "lock content you're currently looking at to the screen, keeping you in the same spot so you can keep reading," all while the page continues to load. This is the theory, anyhow. All websites...

Bixby Voice will not be available for Samsung Galaxy S8's launch

Samsung put a lot eggs in its basket. And by basket, we mean Bixby. In a statement to The Verge this afternoon, Samsung provided an update to the current state of Bixby pertaining to the States-side launch of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+. . Key features of Bixby, including Vision, Home, and Reminder will be available with the global launch of the Samsung Galaxy S8 on April 21. Bixby Voice will be available in the US. later this spring. Bixby Voice was not going to be available outside of the US and South Korea at launch anyway, so the news that the United States won't be able to use...

Silver Nokia 6 went on sale today in China, aaand it's gone

Following a few sell-outs of the HMD-made Nokia 6 in China, online retailer JD.com has been planning to make the silver version of the phone available for sale on April 11. Well, the phone went on sale, and both variants of the silver Nokia 6 sold out shortly afterwards. HMD is on a roll with the new Nokia-branded Android smartphones. Given the overwhelming demand and high pre-registration numbers in China, there is a lot of interest in the new face of Nokia. At this rate, the Nokia 6 could be on its way to become a global hit in 2017. It'll be interesting to see how the smartphone...

Microsoft has laid Windows Vista to rest

Today, Microsoft is "sunsetting" Windows Vista. That means it will no longer be supported with security updates from Microsoft. So if you find yourself with a machine running Windows Vista, you should look at upgradating to a newer version of Windows in order to stay secure. Windows 2000, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows Vista In the early 2000s, Windows pumped three major consumer operating systems: In early 2000 came Windows 2000, later that year, Windows released a Windows Millenium update which was filled with glitches and bugs, including a way to bypass the password screen...

Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 to be priced from $231

Although it was at one point said to arrive in March, Xiaomi's Redmi Pro 2 still isn't official. That could change soon, however, since a new leak today is purported to reveal some official pricing details for the device. According to what's said to be a listing from online retailer Taobao, the Redmi Pro 2 will start at CNY 1,599, which means about $231 or €218 at the current exchange rates. If you pick a higher-end configuration, you'll be required to pay CNY 1,799 ($260 or €245). Unfortunately no specs whatsoever have been detailed this time around. That said, the pricing lines up...

AT&T's Galaxy Note5 is the latest device to receive Android 7.0 Nougat

The latest Samsung smartphone to receive the coveted update to Android 7.0 Nougat is the Galaxy Note5. Specifically, AT&T's version of the last high-end phablet before the ill-fated Note7 came and went. Some owners of Note5 units purchased from AT&T have already installed the new software release, which is rolling out over-the-air as you read this. When you do get the notification, keep in mind that you'll have around 1.44GB to download, so maybe do that over Wi-Fi. Once you apply the update, your phone will run Android 7.0 and build number NRD90M.N920AUCU4EQC6. This comes with the...

Low-end Moto C and Moto C Plus get detailed with leaked specs, renders

We've seen a few rather confusing leaks regarding upcoming Motorola devices recently, but now a new one clears things up thankfully. An earlier report talked a bit about one such handset, and at the time we weren't sure whether it would end up being called Moto E4 or Moto C. It turns out it was the latter. The Moto C will be joined by a slightly more powerful Moto C Plus, according to famed leakster Evan Blass. The Moto C will allegedly come with a 5-inch 854x480 touchscreen, a 5 MP rear camera with LED flash, a 2 MP selfie cam with a flash of its own, 1GB of RAM, and a 2,350 mAh...

LeEco unveils the Le Pro 3 AI Edition with dual rear cameras

That LeEco smartphone with a dual rear camera setup that looks like a robot face finally has a name. The Chinese company took the wraps off it today, and it's called Le Pro 3 AI Edition. It's not the Le Max 3 as we thought. It will become available in China on April 14 in gold, rose gold, and black. It will be offered in two versions, "standard" and "eco". The latter is the higher-end. The standard Le Pro 3 AI Edition has a 5.5-inch 1080p touchscreen as well as 13 MP + 13 MP dual rear cameras (one monochrome, one color) with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus, and a dual-LED...

Huawei Watch 2 review: Time out

Huawei unveiled the Watch 2 next to the P10 couple of flagship smartphones. Although the handsets took most of the attention in Barcelona, the watches - yep, multiple versions here too - didn't completely go unnoticed either. After all, it's been two years since the original Huawei Watch.

And with that shiny metal frame comes a lot of surfaces that can get bumped, scuffed, and cracked. Protect your investment with one of these cases, which are really hard to get this cheap. We anticipate these will go quickly, so go at it before they're all gone! The codes will work until supplies last and for the specified...

Sony Xperia XZs camera low-light performance examined it detail

The Sony Xperia XZs turned out a great flagship in spite of a few caveats here and there. We published our review on Friday and it has been under the spotlight ever since. Many people showed interest in the device and quite a few expressed their opinions and concerns. And we thank you for that! We noticed one particular review chapter to be gathering unusually big attention - our low-light camera samples - and so we decided to make an in-depth follow up on that. What we usually do for our low-light test is shoot the urban landscape from our office balcony. We would take one handheld...

Three new Huawei MateBook devices leaked

Last year Huawei launched a Surface competitor named MateBook - a 2-in-1 PC running Windows 10. According to leaksters Evan Blass and Roland Quandt, the company is planning to build up on that with an update of the 2-in-1 and an addition of two laptops, dubbed MateBook D and MateBook X. The devices have the codenames "Pascal," "Bell" and "Watt" and this helped to spot one of them on Geekbench. The Pascal device (aka MateBook X) has an Intel Core i5 CPU and 8 GB RAM. It comes with 15" screen and 64-bit Windows 10. The display is bigger compared to the MateBook D that will...

Moto E4 (or C) could offer Nougat at a sub-$100 price, but rumors are conflicting

Motorola has a new entry-level device, but we can't quite tell you what it's called. Moto E4? Moto C? There are competing rumors, but the specs are close enough that we think it's a single device (perhaps the different names are a regional thing). We're looking at something in the very affordable bracket, $50 to $80 or so. That's a good deal for an Android 7.0 Nougat device, but the specs are very underwhelming: a 5" screen (480 x 854px), quad-core processor (on a MediaTek chipset), 1GB of RAM and a 5MP main camera plus 2MP selfie cam. The battery is likely 2,300mAh as reported by the...

Truly Exquisite covers Galaxy S8 and S8+ with 24K gold

There's gold, the color option, and gold, the precious metal. Truly Exquisite means the latter when it talks about its 24K Gold Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. There's also 18K Rose Gold and, for a more neutral color, a Platinum option. You can combo those noble metals with the Midnight Black or Orchid Grey colors from Samsung as those determine the color of the glass back - Truly Exquisite only gilds the metal frame, while the front is Black on all S8 color options. Anyway, you're getting more than just a gilded phone for your £2,250 (without VAT) - yes, that's how much they cost....

Alleged image of Moto X (2017) is actually the expected Moto E4

We already told you Moto E4 passed FCC certification, but there is a deficiency of images of the upcoming device. According to famous leakster Evan Blass, the alleged Moto X (2017) render we saw in Moto USA's 44th-anniversary video was actually of the new E-series smartphone. Leaks of the Moto X (2017) started coming up, but since they look a lot like the render, they might be of the Moto E4. Looking at the positioning of cellular bands, camera setup, and the circular M logo, it's actually very likely. Here's a quick rundown of the Moto E4 specs that already leaked: a 2,800 mAh...

Huawei Enjoy 7 Plus goes official: big screen, big battery

The Huawei Enjoy 7 Plus joins the company's budget lineup and it stands a cut above its siblings with its 5.5" display (the previous Enjoys all had 5" displays). The design is largely identical to the Enjoy 6, but the hardware has some marked differences. Obviously, the screen is bigger, though it keeps the low-ish 720p resolution. Endurance should be a highlight of this phone as it boasts a 4,000mAh battery (100mAh less than the Enjoy 6 battery, but still a good size). The chipset is replaced with a Snapdragon 435, which promises a good balance between performance and power efficiency....

Xiaomi posts Mi 6 teaser, phone coming on April 19

It turns out everyone misread Lei Jun's teaser from yesterday - April 11 (today) is when Xiaomi will announce when the company will announce its new flagship, the Xiaomi Mi 6, not when the phone will be unveiled. And that unveiling is set for April 19, next Wednesday. The company says the Mi 6 is the result of 7 years of experience, but the rumor mill offers more concrete specs. For one, pricing will start at CNY 2,200 ($320) for the base Mi 6, while the larger Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus starts at CNY 2,700 ($390). The Xiaomi Mi 6 will be unveiled on April 19 Those will have 5.1" and 5.7"...

Qualcomm sues Apple for making its modems look inferior to Intel's

Qualcomm filed a lawsuit against Apple in the US. Key complaints are five, including a claim that the Cupertino-based company didn't use the full potential of the Snapdragon modems in the iPhone 7 so they don't perform as good as Intel's chips. The company claims its products are better but Apple deliberately "prevented consumers from enjoying the full extent of Qualcomm's innovation." Claims state that the Qualcomm iPhones outperformed Intel iPhones, but Apple said there was "no discernible difference between the two variants." Along with this, Apple also deliberately hid the...

Galaxy J7 (2017) appears on Sprint as Galaxy J7 Perx

Just over a month after the Galaxy J7 (2017) got Wi-Fi certified, the device appeared on Sprint's online store under the name Galaxy J7 Perx. The smartphone has 5.5" display with HD resolution and is powered by Snapdragon 625 chipset with its octa-core CPU clocked at 2.2 GHz. It runs on Android Nougat 7.0. The RAM is 2GB, while the 16GB storage of the Galaxy J7 Perx can be expanded via the microSD slot. The primary camera foes 8MP stills while the front snapper has a 5MP sensor.
