Leak suggests Xperia 1 camera modules are manufactured by Zeiss

A new report offers more details about the Sony Xperia 1's camera prowess. For the first time, it appears that Sony has found a new partner to manufacture the module on its smartphones, despite the fact that the manufacturer supplies sensors for the majority of all major smartphones, including flagships, these days. An image of the triple camera module has leaked on a Chinese website and upon closer inspection, the word "MILVUS" can be spotted on the module's circuit ribbons. It just so happens that Zeiss offers a lineup of lenses with the same name, thus suggesting that each of the three...

Motorola One Vision renders appear

It's hardly news that Motorola is working on several Android One phones - they are supposed to come out later this month. But we get another early look at the Motorola One Vision thanks to another batch of leaked renders. The punch-hole camera design is further confirmed with the new images as well as the rear-mounted fingerprint reader and the dual-camera setup on the back. If you look closer, you can also see the specs of the main sensor written right next to the camera module - 48MP with f/1.7 aperture and OIS. And these images also show a dark blue color in addition to the brown...

Google announces Nest Hub Max smart display

Google's hardware announcements at its I/O developer conference today weren't all about phones. The company also unveiled the previously leaked Nest Hub Max, a bigger smart display than the Google Home Hub which it launched last year. To make things more logical, that device will be known from now on as the Nest Hub. The new Nest Hub Max is, as its name implies, bigger. It comes with a 10-inch 1,280x800 touchscreen, a 6.5 MP camera with a 127-degree field of view and auto-framing, a speaker system consisting of 2x18mm 10W tweeters and one 75mm 30W subwoofer, far-field microphones, an...

Earlier today Google took the wraps off its new consumer-facing features coming in Android 10 Q, due to be finalized and released to Pixel devices in late summer. And now the company has unleashed the third beta build of the software to no less than 21 smartphones from 13 manufacturers (including itself with all Pixels). It's the greatest number of handsets ever to participate in an Android beta, and this has been made possible by the launch in 2017 of Project Treble as part of Android Oreo. Last year at Google I/O there were 8 devices from 7 partners joining the P beta program, together...

Google has revealed the next generation Assistant, which is faster and more capable. Тhere's a new Driving mode and even a feature to turn on your car's A/C while it's still parked. Google Duplex is coming to the web and there are cool enhancements to Search as well. But first things first. Google Assistant currently works in the cloud - there's 100GB worth of neural networks that handle voice recognition and language understanding. The engineers managed to compress this to just half a gigabyte, so Assistant can work entirely on the phone. The key benefit of this (besides improved...

Google Pixel 3a XL hands-on review

Google Pixel 3a and 3a XL unveiled: same cameras, slower chipsets and lower price

Google finally pulled the curtains on its long-awaited budget smartphones - the Pixel 3a and 3a XL. They can be considered as spiritual successors to the affordable Nexus series, which were the Google phones before the Pixels came to be. With a more affordable price tag and the same rear cameras, the new Pixel 3a and 3a XL aim to reach wider audiences. The smaller Pixel 3a, it packs a notch-less 5.6-inch OLED panel with FHD+ (1080 x 2220px) resolution and Dragon Trail protection on top. It's powered by the Snapdragon 670 chipset with Adreno 615 GPU. Interestingly, the handset also...

Realme is coming to France on May 24, with Realme 3 Pro leading the charge

From our interview with Realme's CEO we learned that the brand will launch in Europe by the end of June, but it seems that was a conservative estimate - Realme is coming to France in just a couple of weeks. Invites were sent out for an event in Paris, scheduled for May 24. Since the invite prominently features the Realme 3 Pro, it's a sure bet that the current top phone of the family will be part of the launch line-up. The Realme X, a higher-end phone with a pop-up camera and Snapdragon 730, will be unveiled on May 15, so it might be featured at the Paris event as well. Chances are...

Watch the Google Pixel 3a and 3a XL announcement live here

Leak after leak, we've assembled a complete (if unofficial) picture of the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL. The actual official reveal will be later today on the stage of the Google I/O conference. You can watch the livestream below, the keynote starts at 17:00 UTC. You may want to watch despite all the leaks as this might be the rebirth of the Nexus line - the Pixel 3a is rumored to start at $400. Okay, not quite Nexus 4 pricing and the hardware is not quite flagship, but Google has proven that good software can make up for a hardware deficit (especially in the camera department). Google...

The company was supposed to announce a new release date after evaluating the issues, but now the launch of its first foldable phone has been delayed indefinitely. Samsung sent out emails to those who pre-ordered the Galaxy Fold, saying that it's "making progress" and will release updated shipping info "in the coming weeks". Honor 20 Pro camera specs leak in detail: dedicated there's a macro camera

Leaks about the Honor 20 Pro showed the first periscope zoom lens in the family (following in the footsteps of the sibling Huawei phones). The latest leak, however, pours cold water on our expectations (as far as zoom is concerned, anyway). The camera does have a unique feature, though. Gone is the telltale square lens seen in the renders. Instead, there's a traditional 8MP camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS. The rumored IMX600 sensor for the main camera is out too, it seems, replaced by the familiar 48-megapixel IMX586 (also optically-stabilized), which was used on the Honor View 20....

The Oppo Reno 10x zoom was announced with "only" 20x digital zoom capability, but the company is preparing an update that will triple the range - up to 60x zoom! Check out the video below for a quick demo of what's to come. This update will be rolled out in Taiwan first. This requires a bit of explanation. The phone comes with a periscope zoom lens that goes up to 130mm focal length - 5x zoom in relation to the main camera. Then there's the hybrid zoom mode that can go up to 10x (hence the phone's name). This is followed by a digital zoom, currently capped at 20x. With the new...

Exclusive: Honor 20 Pro's promo images show no punch-hole camera

We just received an exclusive batch of promo images of the Honor 20 Pro and they all seem to confirm what we've seen so far except for one detail - the punch-hole camera. Honor 20 Pro promo renders The previous leak had us believe that the punch-hole camera on the front is indeed happening but the images from today bring us back from where we started. The live images from the other week show off a camera hole positioned in the upper-left corner of the screen while the promo renders show no such thing. Honor 20 Pro promo renders Of course, we can't be sure of the...

Xiaomi phones claim the Top 3 spots in AnTuTu's ranking for fastest Android phones

Xiaomi has locked out the Top 3 spots in AnTuTu's ranking of fastest Android phones for April. The Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer is in the lead, followed by the vanilla Mi 9 and the Black Shark 2 gaming phone. All Snapdragon 855-powered phones, in case it wasn't clear. This displaced the Meizu 16s, which held the top spot last month. Note that the chart below doesn't include the ZTE Axon 10 Pro 5G, which posted a score in the 380,000 range (yet another S855 phone, but the score was boosted by the use of the F2FS file system). The Axon, as well as phones like the Oppo Reno 10x zoom, Lenovo...

The Realme X is arriving in China on May 15, and just over a week ahead of its launch, a live image of the smartphone has been shared by the company's CMO Xu Qi Chase. This photo shared by Chase shows off the phone's notchless display which is surrounded by slim bezels on its left, right, and top. The chin, however, is tad thicker. The notchless screen also re-confirms the presence of a pop-up selfie camera on the Realme X, making it the company's first smartphone to come with this feature. This image doesn't show us the rear side of the Realme X, but thanks to TENAA, we know that...
