The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge started receiving the Nougat update last week. But at that time, only Europe was getting the update. Well, now, the update has started hitting units in India as well. Aside from the Android OS version 7.0, several bug fixes as well as improvements and optimizations are also included in the update, which weighs in at around 1.3GB. As is usually the case with OTA roll outs, it may take some time for the update to hit your device. Meanwhile, if you feel impatient, you can manually check for the update by heading to your handset's Settings menu. Via

Original Huawei Watch to get Android Wear 2.0 by the end of March
The Huawei Watch is still one of the nicest Android Wear smartwatches you can get, despite the Huawei Watch 2 and Watch 2 Classic. Even so, the first Huawei Watch is still waiting to get the Android Wear 2.0 update. The great news is the update should be hitting Huawei's first Android Wear device by the end of March, according to Huawei Deutschland. This comes as an OG Watch customer inquired about the update on Twitter. @MaBr3 Die Auslieferung der Watch 2 hängt vom Modell ab. Ein genaues Release-Datum für Wear 2.0 haben wir noch nicht. Gruß #HuaweiServiceDE Huawei Service DE...
Next LeEco flagship smartphone purportedly leaks showing curved display
Despite its recent financial troubles, it looks like LeEco is still working on a new top of the line smartphone. The Chinese company is said to outfit this upcoming device with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chipset, leaving absolutely no doubt about its high-end aspirations. The two images you can see below have surfaced in China today and they are claimed to depict this new LeEco handset. If that's true (and that's a big "if"), then it's obvious that it will come with a dual-curved touchscreen. It also seems to be very thin, and we can spot a USB Type-C port on the bottom next to a...
Apple's latest iPhone 7 ad is all about iMessage stickers
Every single messaging app worth its salt has stickers. Some even get updated from time to time just to add even more stickers, believe it or not. So undoubtedly stickers are big - and not just literally. People seem to love them. And now Apple is keen to remind prospective iPhone 7 buyers (and those who own one already) that iMessage has stickers too (it's been like that since the release of iOS 10). Loads of them actually. And did you know that they're "practically magic"? This is what the company's latest iPhone 7 ad says, take a look: So if you've ever wondered what the world...
Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 to sport MediaTek's Helio P25 SoC, not the Snapdragon 660
Earlier today we heard a rumor saying that Xiaomi is getting ready to unveil the Redmi Pro 2 this month. According to past leaks, this should come with the yet-unofficial Snapdragon 660 chipset from Qualcomm and just a single rear camera, unlike the original Redmi Pro which was the first Xiaomi phone to boast a dual camera setup. However, a new leak originating in China today comes to contradict that. The new report claims that the Redmi Pro 2 will stick with the unique selling point represented by the dual rear camera, thus being a true successor to the first Pro. It may employ two 12 MP...
Samsung promises monthly security updates for unlocked units sold in the US
Overall, Samsung isn't doing bad at all when it comes to releasing those monthly security patches for its devices - at least compared to some of its competitors. However, there have certainly been some odd goings-on in this respect for some of its phones, most notably those sold in the US in unlocked form. While carrier-specific versions of models such as the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge have been fairly reliably receiving the Android security updates month after month, the situation hasn't been the same for the unlocked units. These are still stuck on the December security patch level, and they...
Unlocked Sony Xperia X is now just $269.99
If you're in the US and crave a Sony Xperia X, you'll be interested in this deal. The smartphone which normally retails for more than $300 in unlocked form can currently be purchased from B&H for just $269.99, the lowest price we've ever seen for this model. So you could be saving quite a bit if you take advantage of this offer. There are some caveats however. First off, we're talking about the Graphite Black version of the handset. Next up, you need to know that it's currently backordered, with new stock expected to arrive within 7 to 10 business days. That said, if you want to be sure...
Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro preview: Big screen entertainment
Samsung has played a huge part in carving the phablet niche with its Note series. And with big screen phones growing in popularity today, going even bigger seemed a logical path to take. Enter the 6.0+ inch phones. Samsung is surely no stranger to this category - but it seems phones like the Galaxy Mega 6.3 came too early to a market that wasn't quite ready for them. Now that users have finally warmed to the idea of having the biggest possible screen in their pocket, there is no better time for Samsung to have another go at this segment. And so we have the Galaxy C9 Pro.
Sense Companion app for the HTC U Ultra is now available in the Play Store
The HTC U Ultra has finally started to become available in the past week or so, after having been unveiled in January. And as it gets into the hands of eager customers, the company making it has decided to release the much talked about (in marketing materials) Sense Companion personal assistant. In case you're wondering, no, this isn't built into the software of the device. It's actually an app that you need to install. It's now available in the Google Play Store, so if you have a U Ultra you can go grab it now. It's a bit odd that you need to actively seek out what is one of HTC's key...
nubia Z17 mini said to be the ZTE handset with dual rear cameras launching on March 21
A few short hours ago we told you that ZTE is getting ready to unveil a new nubia-branded smartphone on March 21. This will be the sub-brand's first model to sport a dual rear camera setup, and the Chinese company is already sending invites for the event. Now a list of purported specs for that device arrives via Weibo, complete with its name. Apparently it will be called nubia Z17 mini. Needless to say, take all of this with a hefty dose of salt since it's just one unconfirmed rumor for now. The Z17 mini would succeed the Z11 mini from last year. And sure, ZTE has gotten us used to...
LG G6 will cost 749 in Europe when it goes on sale in late April
We've heard quite a few times so far that the LG G6's release date in the US will be April 7, despite LG supposedly doing its best to take its flagship to market before Samsung launches the S8 duo. Anyway, we now have one more 'confirmation' of this release time frame, coming from a report in South Korean media. This claims the G6 will be out in the US on April 7 or 10, according to "industry sources". Over the weekend, famous leakster @evleaks reiterated the April 7 date. What about Europe though? So far the G6 has only been on sale in Korea, where it's doing better than its predecessor....
Samsung is kicking off the Galaxy S8 ad campaign in Korea
There is still some waiting to be done for the upcoming Galaxy S8 flagship pair. The official announcement is scheduled for March 29 and availability could come as late as April 28. And despite the sea of leaks we already have on the pair, official information is still scarce. Considering Samsung's schedule, this is quite understandable. However, the Korean giant appears to be breaking away from convention this time around and has already kicked-off its ad campaign on the local market with a 15 second teaser. Naturally, the video doesn't really reveal anything about the...
Vertu sells its business for £50M
Vertu is a brand famous for its handmade phones with extraordinary design and tremendously high prices. Now the company changed its ownership for the third time since Nokia built it in the 90s specifically to cover a niche for devices with ostrich leather casing and titanium frames. The new owner is Hakan Uzan, a Turkish millionaire currently in exile and seeking an asylum in France. Hakan Uzan is the latest owner of Vertu after he paid £50 million or about $61 million to Godin Holdings, previous owners of the phone company. He is controversial for his court cases against Nokia,...
Samsung Galaxy S8 gets certified by 3C in China
Samsung's long-awaited flagship smartphone was already certified by the FCC last Thursday, and today it also got approved in China. The Galaxy S8 model there will be SM-G9500. The listing itself does not reveal more about the device, but we already know that Samsung's flagship will have 5.8" display, a Snapdragon 835 and a fingerprint sensor on the back next to the camera setup. The price reportedly will start from $799 while its bigger sibling the Galaxy S8+ will be $100 more expensive. The official launch is March 29 and we can't wait for the rumor mill to end and to see one...
ZTE Nubia phone with Dual Camera to be announced on March 21
A teaser on Weibo suggests that we are about to see the first dual-camera smartphone with the Nubia brand. March 21 is the date ZTE will show the world its first Nubia with a dual-camera setup. The event will take place in the Shekou district near Shenzhen, China. Interestingly enough there is not much info about the device, nor TENAA listing whatsoever. According to a weibo user, the new Nubia will have Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835, which will make it just the second phone in the world with this SoC after Sony Xperia XZ Premium which saw life at MWC last month. Come back March 21...
New leak shows the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ side by side
A new leaked photo shows the S8 duo chilling together - the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ side by side. You can see the difference in size and they appear different colors too. The top bezel is both thin and very busy - just look at all those sensors. Part of that is likely the facial recognition hardware next to the usual selfie cam, earpiece and sensors. In contrast, the bottom bezel is perfectly clean, the traditional hardware buttons replaced by virtual ones. Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ side by side The on-screen buttons have an unusual design and will reportedly be...

Other than the upgraded storage, the Exclusive Version is the same phone as the regular Redmi Note 4. Future Nokias may have Carl Zeiss optics, but HMD is playing coy
Long before Huawei partnered with a legendary German camera brand, Nokia put Carl Zeiss-branded lenses on its phones. A recent Tweet led people to believe that partnership will not carry over to the HMD-made phones, but now there's a glimmer of hope. It turns out that was a mistake - the tweet only meant that the current Nokias (6, 5 and 3) do not have Zeiss optics, not that new phones definitely will not have them. Of course, that's not the same as confirming that they will, even though the tweet ends with a tantalizing "stay tuned". @baris_gunel Hi, our current range does not have...

Just a few months after Oppo launched the red color option for its R9s smartphone, a new green-colored variant has been spotted in China. The marketing poster reveals both R9S and its Plus variant will get the new color. While there's no official word on when the handset would be made available for purchase, rumors say the launch is set for later this month. Needless to say, it will go on sale in China before arriving anywhere else. Pricing shouldn't be different from other R9s models. Via

Sadly, there's currently no information on exactly when the roll out would begin. In case you missed, the unlocked units of the phone started getting the update in the US back in December last year. Europe got the update early last month. Source | Via
