Apple appeals outcome of its legal battle with Epic Games

In response to one of the outcomes of the Apple vs. Epic Games ruling from back in September, Apple has filed to appeal the Court's ruling. While Apple won 9 of the 10 claims made by Epic Games, it did lose on one. That one claim was that Apple was illegally stifling consumers from their choice of which payment system to use for in-app purchases. Apple was also ordered to let developers link users to outside payment systems and that was supposed to go into effect starting December. The appeal calls for the Court to temporarily suspend a this proceeding to "allow Apple to protect...

Google Pixel 6 Pro assembly video leaks

Over the past few years we've gotten quite used to seeing various teardown/disassembly videos for smartphones, which take everything out and then put everything back in again. Well, today's leak is basically just the latter half of that - ladies and gentlemen, here's an assembly video, an instructional one at that, for the upcoming Google Pixel 6 Pro, complete with weird music and way too much text everywhere. We have to say, with Google basically "leaking" a lot of the details about the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro itself, we were thinking we wouldn't see any revolutionary leaks from...

Realme GT Neo 2T is coming this month with MediaTek chipset

Realme's GT Neo2 is coming soon to both Europe and India, but meanwhile in China the company is working on yet another GT device. This one will allegedly be called GT Neo 2T, and it will have a customized version of the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC at the helm. We don't yet know what other differences there may be compared to the Neo2, but the chipset story is sort of funny itself, seeing as how the original GT Neo was basically a version of the GT with a Dimensity chip, then the Neo2 switched to the Snapdragon 870, only for the Neo 2T to now go back to MediaTek. Strange are these chip...

Apple iPhone 13 mini in for review

The Apple iPhone 13 mini has arrived into the office and it’s the last iPhone we're going to review. This is the entry-level iPhone for 2021 and this may be the last time we see a 'mini' iPhone. The iPhone 13 mini is identical to the iPhone 13, minus the obvious reduction in size. The new mini phone brings the same updated cameras as the 13, and battery life is expected to be better. The phone comes with a USB-C to Lightning charging cable, a SIM eject tool, and an Apple sticker. Storage also starts at 128GB versus the 12 mini's 64GB. This phone has a 5.4-inch Super...

Apple iPhone 13 Pro in for review

The Apple iPhone 13 Pro is now in our office and it's next in line for a review. It's the successor to the iPhone 12 Pro but unlike last year's model, this is closer to the Max. Like the rest of Apple's 12 and 13 lineup, the iPhone 13 Pro comes in a simple box with a USB-C to Lightning cable, a SIM eject tool and an Apple sticker. However certain carrier and retailer promos will see early buyers rewarded with Apple's 20W charger as a bonus. Last year's iPhone 12 Pro lacked the bigger main camera and the slightly zoomier zoom camera of the Max. This year's Pro is near-identical to...

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra dummy unit appears in hands-on shots

We’ve already seen renders of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S22 series with the S22 Ultra ones presenting an interesting back design and rumors of an S Pen slot. Now, xleaks7 and CoverPigtou have teamed up to give us our first look at a dummy unit of the Galaxy S22 Ultra in live photos accompanied by a short hands-on video. Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra dummy unit (images: xleaks7 x CoverPigtou) The overall shape of the device appears quite similar to last year’s Galaxy Note20 Ultra which further emphasizes recent rumors that it may end up being a Note22 Ultra instead. Based on renders...

Leakster: the Dimensity 2000 will be made on the TSMC 4nm node, use Cortex-X2 and Mali-G710

Last month a rumor claimed that MediaTek’s next generation of Dimensity flagship chipsets will use the new ARMv9 architecture. This tied in to previous rumors that MediaTek is one of the first to have placed orders with TSMC’s 4 nm foundries. This chip is tentatively dubbed the Dimensity 2000 and leakster Digital Chat Station confirms the above and adds some details about its makeup. It will feature one Cortex-X2 prime core running at 3.0 GHz, three Cortex-A710 cores and four A510 cores. This is basically the same setup as the Snapdragon 898 and the Exynos 2200 (though these two will be...

Apple iPhone SE 3 will get 5G connectivity, but use same design as SE (2020)

We’ve been hearing talk of an iPhone SE model with an upgraded chipset and 5G connectivity for quite some time now and Japan’s Macotakara blog is now reporting that the device will re-use the iPhone SE (2020) design. This means a 4.7-inch LCD with bottom and top bezels and the legacy Touch-ID sensor/home button combo housed in the same old aluminum body. The notable upgrades on the third-gen SE are said to be Apple’s latest A15 Bionic chip and Qualcomm Snapdragon X60 5G modem just like on the iPhone 13 series. The new report specifies that production for the SE 3 should start around...

Nintendo Switch OLED launches today, but buyers in the US and Europe report delays

The Nintendo Switch OLED is going on sale today – or was supposed to, anyway. The pre-orders are over and retailers should be shipping consoles to early buyers, but they are reporting delays. Indeed, checking out Nintendo’s US site, all retailers are showing “out of stock”. The situation doesn’t seem to be much better in Europe. Amazon France claims that it has stock, but Amazon UK is expecting units to be available from October 12/13 (depending on which color you want). Amazon Germany says that dispatching takes 1-3 weeks. The OLED model has a new larger 7” display (up from 6.2”),...

Windows 11 bugs slow down AMD processors, AMD and Microsoft are working on a fix

Microsoft released Windows 11 this week as a free update from Windows 10 for compatible PCs. However, if you are running an AMD processor and haven’t updated yet, you may want to hold off as two performance bugs have identified. The first one affects the L3 cache and increases latency by around 3x. Typical applications will see a 3-5% hit in performance, but esports games can experience as much as 10-15% slowdown. The other bug prevents Windows from using AMD’s “preferred core” feature properly. This feature is how the processor tells the OS which core can achieve the highest clockspeed...

Redmi Note 11 Pro tipped to feature 120W charging

An early rumor surrounding the Redmi Note 11 series is that the top-end Pro or Pro Max model could feature 120W fast charging. The info comes from noted tipster Digital Chat Station and is basically the first bit of specs we have for any of the Redmi Note 11 series so far. This would be quite a leap from the current Note 10 Pro and Pro Max which feature 33W charging and even the China-exclusive Redmi Note 10 Pro with its 67W speeds. The only Xiaomi phones on the market that support 120W charging are the 11T Pro and Mix 4. The remaining specs of the Redmi Note note 11 Pro and its...

The Motorola Moto E40 will launch on Flipkart in India on October 12

Motorola unveiled the Moto E40 yesterday without any launch details. This was corrected today as the company officially announced that the phone will launch on India’s Flipkart on October 12 (Tuesday). Pricing is still TBA, but we can take a guess. The Moto G10 Power launched at INR 13,000, but is currently INR 10,500 on Flipkart. That converts to $170 and $140 or so. The two phones are similar, though the G10 Power has an extra camera (8 MP ultra wide) and a larger battery (6,000 mAh) with faster charging (20W). The Moto E40 does stand out with a 90 Hz refresh rate on its display,...
