Counterclockwise: naming things  is hard,  so every new phone is called the "One"

People made many jokes when Microsoft named its third-gen console the "Xbox One". It doesn't make much sense for the third product in the line, but it gets worse - "one" could be the most overused name for a tech product ever. For example, Microsoft OneDrive is a cloud storage service, so is Google One. But don't confuse it with Android One, that's something completely different. And, of course, there is a long list of Android phones named "One". HTC One • OnePlus One • XOLO One • Motorola One Sony Xperia 1 • Realme 1 • Nokia 1 • Microsoft Kin One We didn't...

Android Q will come with native support for 3D Touch-like feature called "deep press"

According to Android Q documentation, the next big Android OS will natively support a feature called "deep press" or also known as Force Touch or 3D Touch in iOS language. By the looks of it, it will be exactly what it sounds - an enhanced functionality tied with a pressure-sensitive screen. So far there have been a couple of custom implementations of the feature, but Android Q will bring native support for it. It's still unknown how it will work and how it will be implemented in this year's Android iteration. We don't even know if additional hardware will be required under the...

YouTube PiP mode rolling out to non-Premium users outside the US

YouTube's picture-in-picture (PiP) mode was initially limited to Premium users, but that changed last June as the feature was extended to non-Premium users in the US. More than nine months later, the PiP mode is now spreading to non-Premium subscribers outside the US too. YouTube's PiP mode is currently rolling to non-Premium users in Italy, but if you happen to live in another country and have got this feature, let us know by dropping a comment below. The option to turn on PiP mode can be found in Settings > General menu in YouTube's Android app, but it only works on devices running...

A Samsung Galaxy S10 5G teardown video appears

The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G isn't out yet but one of the first, if not the first, teardown videos just popped up. It takes you through the whole process of disassembly and shows off all the internals of the phone so if you like hardware videos, go ahead and watch it. Of course, since the phone has a glass sandwich design, a heat gun is needed to loosen up the adhesive holding the back plate before prying it up. The first thing we see is the triple-camera module along with the 3D ToF sensor and the plate used for wireless charging. A couple of cables need to be removed before proceeding...

LG is one of those brands who have a bad reputation with software updates. The company has so far rolled out Android Pie for only two smartphones - G7 One and G7 ThinQ. However, this South Korean phone maker plans to release the latest version of Android for four smartphones by June this year. LG has shared a list of smartphones that it plans on upgrading. The list includes V30, V30S ThinQ, V35 ThinQ, and V40 ThinQ. There's no specific order to this, and neither do we have any exact dates for the rollout.
