Xiaomi Mi Max 3 specs completely unveiled, price teased

Xiaomi is announcing the Mi Max 3 tomorrow, but that is not stopping Lin Bin from leaking the phone and spoiling the surprise. Yesterday he posted all the official renders of the phone and today he went further ahead and revealed the key specs of the device. The Mi Max 3 will have a Snapdragon 636 chipset and a 12 MP + 5 MP dual camera. The 6.9" LCD panel was already teased by the company account on Weibo back in Monday. The post also revealed the battery size which will be the biggest in the series so far. Leaked photos accompanied the image, but with the Lin Bin post, now...

Honor Note 10 showcases huge display in first live image

Huawei Honor Note 10 is getting closer, and we might've just seen the first live images of the phone. The guys from Techtastic shared some photos where the device is compared to Nintendo Switch for scale. By the looks of it, the Note 10 will be smaller than the 6.2" LCD screen of the console but will have extremely thin bezels around the 6.9" AMOLED display. Huawei Honor Note 10 vs Nintendo Switch Just to give some perspective, the Nintendo Switch console is 4 inches high, 9.4 inches long and 0.55 inches deep, or to put in into smartphone measurements - 238.7 x 101.6 x 14 mm....

FAST.com speed test now displays latency and upload speeds

Back in 2016, Netflix launched its own connection speed test website, FAST.com, so that it could properly help diagnose customers who were experiencing slow-downs. Going to FAST.com seemed like the easiest way to check your connection speed and Netflix's vast bandwidth could support it without breaking a sweat. Netflix says FAST.com has performed more than 500 million speed tests between the site and its iOS and Android apps and that its usage has doubled over the past 7 months. We've heard from some FAST.com users that they crave more information about their internet...

T-Mobile is making a couple of changes to its international roaming data pass pricing to compete against Verizon's. The carrier is also announcing that it is updating the number of countries and destinations that customers can roam to with unlimited 2G data and texting from 140 to 210. T-Mobile's new data passes now include unlimited phone calls. Pay $5 and get half a GB that can be used in a single day and you can make as many phone calls as you want within 24 hours of purchasing the roaming pass. Remember that you don't need these passes to roam with T-Mobile. Data and text is included...

Google introduces visual snapshot, Google Now cards accessible from Assistant

Google just announced that it will roll out a new visual feed of your day within Google Assistant and is calling it a ‘visual snapshot'. This new visual overview isn't a new concept - we've been seeing it since Google Now and this Google Feed has been moving around ever since, yet to find a permanent home. When Google Assistant was first announced, there was a clear division between Google Now and Google Assistant functions. With this feature announced, it looks like the former Google Now has finally made full circle becoming integrated into Google Assistant. The feature is...

Blob emojis are back as animated stickers on GBoard

Last year, Google decided to redesign the emoji roster for Android 8.0. This was the first time Android had completely redesigned its emojis since Android 4.4 KitKat "Gumdrop" or sometimes called "blob" shaped emojis were introduced. Google went for a rounder emojis to look more like Apple's more popular set but got rid of these other abnormally shaped ones for good, or so we thought. The blobs are back, baby! Have a #WorldEmojiDay treat with new animated blob emoji stickers on Android Messages and #Gboard. Android 👉 https://ift.tt/2uul5J0 👉 https://t.co/1Wkl53eqVs...

MediaTek announces new A-series chipset line for mid-range smartphones

MediaTek has announced a new series of processors for the burgeoning mid-range smartphone market. Called the A-series, it will be joining MediaTek's P and X-series for more expensive devices. The first model to be launched in this series is the Helio A22 SoC based on the TSMC 12nm FinFET process. Oddly enough, this chipset was first announced last month when it debuted in the Xiaomi Redmi 6A. It has a quad-core CPU design based on four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. The GPU is a PowerVR GE8320. The A22 is already in production and we can expect more A-series processors...

Samsung builds a video wall out of 132 Galaxy Note8s for Mr. Doodle's artwork

Sam Cox, perhaps better known as Mr. Doodle, has garnered a lot of attention with his graffiti-style doodles. He just opened a Doodle World exhibition (his first in Korea) at the Ara Art Center where much the art has been drawn with an S Pen. A video wall made of 132 Galaxy Note8s • You can take a selfie with Mr. Doodle's artwork One of the installation of the exhibition features 132 Galaxy Note8 phones put together into a video wall that shows off Cox's work (done with an S Pen, of course). Visitors can borrow a Note8 to snap selfies at the event or a Galaxy S9+ to use as an...

White Oppo Find X leaks ahead of possible unveiling

Oppo's Find X stunned the world when it got official last month with its clever sliding mechanism that hides the cameras and enables its amazing screen-to-body ratio. The two colors that have so far been on offer (Bordeaux Red and Glacier Blue) are very interesting in themselves, but the company may be prepping a new one for release in the future. That is if we can believe a leaked image that has surfaced today in Chinese media - see below, the one on the left. It definitely seems to portray a part of a white Find X's back, caught off guard somewhere in the wild. Then again, there's...

LG V35 ThinQ Prime Exclusive is now on sale for just $599.99

Amazon has quietly added a new smartphone to its Prime Exclusive roster today. It's the LG V35 ThinQ that was initially launched for AT&T, but then got offered by Google's Project Fi carrier as well. Now there's a third option if you want to purchase LG's third iteration of its V30 line. It's a bit odd that Amazon didn't even announce the Prime Exclusive V35 ThinQ, but it may be busy with the whole Prime Day thing. Anyway, this is the cheapest flagship LG device you can buy in the US today. If you have a Prime subscription, you can pick it up for just $599.99, which is around $300 less...

Galaxy S10, Note10 and A-series phones to get ultrasonic in-display fingerprint readers

The rumor mill houses conflicting opinions on whether the Galaxy S10 will have an in-display fingerprint reader or not. @IceUniverse claims that yes, it will, but more interestingly so will the new Galaxy A and Note10 phones. It will be an ultrasonic reader rather than an optical one and it will be sourced from Qualcomm. Earlier rumors suggested that Samsung will develop a module in-house instead. Either way, an ultrasonic reader can work on non-OLED displays (a trick it will not get to show off on a Galaxy S, A or Note phone), but they are also more accurate as they capture 3D data...

Apple App Store has twice the Google Play revenue, half the downloads

Apple's App Store continues to dominate Google's Play Store when it comes to earnings so far this year but that's somewhat expected. Android users historically spend less on apps and they also have access to alternative app stores like Amazon's Appstore. Also, let's not forget the fact that Google Play isn't available in China while Apple's App Store is. Anyway, the report from Sensor Tower says the App Store generated 1.9 times the revenue of Google Play - $22.6 billion vs. $11.8 billion for the first half of 2018. Both app stores, however, have grown significantly year-over-year -...

New Samsung Galaxy Note9 press render and live images leak

That leaked Galaxy Note9 promotional poster from last week was legit, as it turns out - complete with yellow/gold S Pen shipping with the blue version of the phone. This has been confirmed today by the image you can see below, a press render of the upcoming device shared by none other than Evan Blass, a.k.a. @evleaks. The render further cements the fact that the fingerprint sensor on the back gets a new positioning, but the Note9 will definitely not be loved by OCD sufferers, with the misaligned mess you can spot in the camera island on the rear. One sensor is bigger than the other,...

Xiaomi sets foot in Bangladesh, three phones are now available in the country

Xiaomi smartphones are fairly popular in Bangladesh despite the lack of official stores in the country, so it's no wonder the company is now officially entering the country. Manu Kumar Jain, company's Vice President and Managing Director in India, announced that Chinese vendor is setting foot in Bangladesh starting with three smartphones - the Redmi S2-9185.php), Redmi 5 and Redmi Note 5. The devices will be available for purchase through 463 Mi authorized offline stores while Daraz Bangladesh will take orders online. The pricing of the Redmi S2 is BDT 14,999 ($178) for the ...

Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 and Galaxy Tab A2 appear on TENAA

Samsung is preparing to introduce two tablets - a premium-tier Galaxy Tab S4 and a more affordable Galaxy Tab A2, both of them with thinner bezels and without a physical home button. The latest info comes from Chinese communications regulator TENAA. Devices with model numbers SM-T835C and SM-T595C just got certified and approved to work with LTE, CDMA, and GSM networks. Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 on TENAA • Samsung Galaxy Tab A2 on TENAA The listings do not reveal much apart from the obvious Android OS. From earlier rumors, we know the Galaxy Tab S4 will run on Snapdragon 845 chipset,...

2018 iPhones' front panels surface, impressively thin bezels all around

It's already confirmed by now that Apple is going to release three variants of this year's iPhone - a plus-sized iPhone X, a direct successor to the iPhone X and a "budget," by Apple's standards, iPhone with a 6.1-inch LCD. We've heard a lot about these devices for the past few weeks and months, but it's just now we get to see how all three iPhones will look like from the front. Take a look at their panels. Left to right - iPhone 5.8" (OLED), iPhone 6.1" (LCD), iPhone 6.5" (OLED) We were able to find three images coming from two different sources and the panels look identical....

OnePlus 6 scores a respectable 96 score from DxOMark, beats iPhone 8 Plus

DxOMark reviewed the OnePlus 6 camera and the results are quite positive - it scored higher than the Galaxy Note8 and both iPhone 8 models (but trails the X by a single point). Not bad for a €520 phone, now is it? If the OnePlus camera has a weak spot, it's shooting videos. It scored 100 points on photography, but only 87 for video. Still, that puts in a point ahead of the Google Pixel 2 for still shots. The still camera was commended for fast and accurate autofocus, reliable exposure and vivid colors, plus a solid performance by the flash. Some noise is present in uniform areas and...

Xiaomi officially confirms the Mi A2 Lite is coming on July 24

Xiaomi's Twitter account continues to tease the launch of the Mi A2 and it even officially confirmed that it will be joined by the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite. The first tweet said "2 is better than 1" and the next tweet named the Mi A2 Lite explicitly. In case you missed it, someone put the Mi A2 Lite on sale yesterday, at a reasonable price ($190) and confirmed the specs. The phone is more or less a Redmi 6 Pro except with stock Android instead of MIUI (in the same way that the Mi A2 is a Mi 6X). Xiaomi officially confirms the Mi A2 Lite (launching on July 24) The differences between...

Huawei nova 3i prematurely goes on sale without a notch

AliExpress sellers have no qualms about offering phones that aren't official yet. The Huawei nova 3i is the latest example as both 4GB / 64GB and 6GB / 64GB versions were put on sale. The prices are $480 and $520 respectively (that's €410/445). Three color options are available for both versions: White, Black, Red and Purple. The image in the listing may not be entirely legitimate - there's no notch. All previous leaks show a notch and the nova 3 has a notch as well (it too has a 6.3" screen, but with a notch and 1,080 x 2,340px resolution). That said, the 1,080 x 2,160px resolution of...

OnePlus 5 and 5T's latest OxygenOS Open Beta bring Google Lens support

While the last OxygenOS Open Beta update for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T was a significant upgrade bringing support for Project Treble, the latest versions for both devices offer smaller changes. The OxygenOS Open Beta 14 for the OnePlus 5 and the Open Beta 12 for the OnePlus 5T are focusing entirely to the camera app. They add support for Google Lens and improve overall image quality - the changelog says that it reduces the "oil painting effect". This means that you can expect sharper images. If you are already running the Open Beta on your device, you should get the 253MB OTA...

Samsung unveils 8 gigabit LPDDR5 RAM chips for next-gen phones

Earlier this year Samsung started making GDDR6 memory chips on a "10nm class" process for graphics cards and now the foundry is cranking out the industry's first 8 gigabit LPDDR5 chips for next-gen phones. Note: "10nm class" means "between 10nm and 20nm", so it's not an actual 10nm node. These chips promise transfer rates of up to 6,400Mbps, a 50% improvement over the current top chips - LPDDR4X at 4,266Mbps. This speed is achievable when the chips are powered at 1.1V, for lower power operation a 1.05V mode is available at 5,500Mbps. Voltage isn't fixed, however, it changes based on...

Sony is holding its IFA press conference on August 30

Sony has just revealed in an email it will hold its IFA press conference and product announcement on August 30 at 1 PM CET. The company's current mainstream flagships Xperia XZ2, Xperia XZ2 Compact debuted at MWC so if the comapny sticks to its usual twice per year upgrade cycle we should see their successors at the venue. We might get a first glance of the Xperia XZ3 with four cameras, since phones with model numbers H8416 and H8616 with Android P popped up respectively in benchmarks and user-agent profile listings. We'll be on site, keeping you updated so make sure you stick...

The Emporio Armani Connected 2018 promises the perfect blend of features and style by offering: Google's WearOS 2.0 GPS NFC for Google Pay (Alipay in China) Wrist-based Heart Rate Monitoring Waterproof up to 3 ATM 1-2 battery...

Meizu 16 amazing AnTuTu score and sample photos surface

We've heard a lot about the upcoming Meizu 16 and most of the information comes straight from the company's CEO. The Snapdragon 845 chipset is expected to power up the plus version of the device so today's AnTuTu benchmark score that's supposed to be from the Meizu 16 Plus doesn't come as a surprise. However, a quick search shows that the 291,866 points even beat Xiaomi's Black Shark gaming smartphone. We suspect that either the score isn't legitimate or the rumored vapor chamber does an amazing job. We doubt that the regular-sized version will get a vapor chamber, though, as it will...

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 comes to South Korean carriers

Xiaomi phones are finally arriving to South Korean carriers. The first device is the Redmi Note 5 and it will appear in both SK Telecom and KT shops. This is the third Xiaomi smartphone available in the country after the Mi A1 and the Mi Mix, all of them also available with the retailer G-mobi. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 arrives with a tall 5.99" screen and Snapdragon 636. The chipset is coupled with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage. The 13 MP selfie camera and the Android Oreo out of the box reveal this is the AI Dual Camera variant and not the Redmi Note 5 Pro version. The phone will cost...

HTC U12+ Mayday Limited Edition launched in Taiwan

The HTC U12+ has received mostly positive reviews among Android enthusiasts but its initial sales performance is hardly great. To boost its popularity HTC is releasing a special edition U12+ called Mayday, in collaboration with a popular local band. The version comes in glossy black with the band's logo in the middle painted in gold, but aside from the different color, the device offers identical specs to the regular unit. HTC has thrown a few goodies in the box as well - the U12+ features an exclusive Mayday theme and ringtone, cross-body bag, a party towel and a future pass...

Xiaomi's founder posts official renders of the Mi Max 3 ahead of launch

Just yesterday, another retail box of the Mi Max 3 leaked online with an extensive confirmation of the phone's key specs. Now, two days before the official launch, Xiaomi's founder, Bin Lin, shared a ton of revealing images of the device. Mi Max 3 all colors The renders are here to give us a bit more detail about the already known design from the previous leaks and also reveal some or all of the color options. Mi Max 3 in gold On the front, we have the huge 6.9-inch IPS display with rather thick bezels - it's a budget phablet after all - but fortunately the notch...
