vivo iQOO Pro 5G photos on TENAA confirm what we know so far

Qualcomm's announcement of the Snapdragon 855+ caught the whole gaming smartphone industry by surprise, but this is actually a good thing. After the ROG Phone II was announced with the new SoC, other brands like iQOO, Black Shark and Red Magic 3 introduced their own iteration with the new chipset. One of the new phones is called vivo iQOO Pro 5G and it will arrive in seven days. The Shenzhen-based company revealed the back of the phone yesterday, but today more photos appeared on TENAA, confirming what we already know - the new device looks a lot like the regular vivo...

Huawei Mate 30 to have 25W fast wireless charging support, rumor says

With the Note10, Samsung finally has a flagship device that can fast charge at more than 15W, which is what previous generations of its high-end smartphones have been stuck with for years. The 25W fast wired charging in the Note10 is commendable, but Huawei is looking to soon match that - only not through wired charging, but wireless. According to a new rumor from China, the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro will support 25W wireless charging. That's the fastest that this method of topping up your battery has ever been, one-upping even Xiaomi's 20W system that's built into the Mi 9. Obviously as...

OnePlus is launching another 5G smartphone by the end of the year

A few rumors made the rounds recently talking about OnePlus readying a 7T Pro model that will be launching in a couple of months' time, and it turns out that may actually pan out. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has told the Financial Times that his company will release a new 5G capable smartphone in the fourth quarter of this year - that's October to December. Unlike the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G, which is only available from a handful of carriers across the world, the new device would get a global release. OnePlus 7 Pro This is just pure speculation on our part - but this could mean that there's...

Google's Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are now $400 off, cheaper than ever before

As we're getting closer to the rumored early October launch of the Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, the prices of their predecessors just keep on dropping. We've seen the Pixel 3 and/or Pixel 3 XL go for $200 off their usual prices, $300, and even $360, but today's deal takes the prize for the best one we've ever seen. At Best Buy you can now purchase a Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL for a whopping $400 off their normal prices. That means you're getting the small Pixel 3 for $399.99, which is exactly half of what it should cost. The 3 XL can be yours for $499.99. If you don't mind the fact that these...

EE starts selling the Huawei Mate 20 X (5G) after all

The saga of the launch of Huawei's Mate 20 X (5G) on EE in the UK is now complete. The operator initially announced this would be one of the devices it would release upon the start of its 5G service, but then backtracked once the Chinese company was put on the US Government's Entity List. Then a few days ago, after that whole drama got somewhat clarified, it put the handset up for pre-order. And today it's finally available and in stock. You can only get it in Emerald Green, with 256GB of storage. EE is offering the Mate 20 X (5G) with eight different plans, ranging from £54 per month to...

Apple responds to iPhone battery replacement controversy

Last week we discovered that Apple is doing its best to deter you from replacing your iPhone's battery at any service center that isn't authorized by it for that purpose. Regardless of whether you'd replace your battery at a third-party service center with a non-official part, or even an official Apple battery, once you'd turn on the iPhone you'd keep seeing an error message in Settings. Like this: Today Apple has responded to the controversy surrounding this tactic, saying the following, in a statement sent to iMore: We take the safety of our customers very seriously and want to...

Buy a Sony Xperia 1 with Alexa built-in and save $100

Sony's Xperia 1 launched in the US about one month ago, and its recommended retail price has been a whopping $949.99. If you got a pre-order in, that was significantly sweetened by the company throwing in a free pair of WH-1000XM3 noise-cancelling headphones. If not, however, you may have been considering the Xperia 1 but found its price rather off-putting. In that case, how about you save a cool $100 and purchase the Xperia 1 for only $849.99? Yes you can do that, but there are some things to keep in mind. First off, this is an Amazon exclusive deal. Second, you need to be a member of...

About 50 million foldable phones will be shipped in 2024

IHS Markit is out with another market analysis and this time it's about foldable phones. The research cites that smartphones with foldable screens will reach 50 million sales in 2024. Given that this year a couple of companies announced smartphones with foldable screens and only one actually followed through, for now, this seems a fairly reasonable estimate. The technology still hasn't matured and we are yet to see wider adoption of OLED screens. Don't get us wrong, though - the OLED panels' market share continues to grow and it's making its way down to the low-end and mid-range...

The Nokia 2 will get its last security patch in November of 2019 while Amazon-branded Nokia 6 in the US and India will get their last security patch in October 2019. Samsung Galaxy Note10's game streaming app is coming in September

During the Galaxy Note10-series announcement last week, Samsung teased a PC game streaming feature called PlayGalaxy Link. It promised to let you play your game on your phone instead of your PC and it's coming in early September. Samsung has teamed up with Parsec, a cloud-based gaming startup that has a streaming gaming app of its own on Google Play so this could mean that the PlayGalaxy Link is a re-branded service from Samsung. In any case, the PlayGalaxy Link app will be available starting next month and we will see what the fuss is all about. In the meantime, here's a short...

Samsung has released a new software update for the Galaxy S10, S10+, and S10e which bumps up the Android security patch level on these smartphones to August 1, 2019. This new update sports version number G97*FXXS3ASH1 and requires a small download of around 100MB. However, apart from the latest security patch, the changelog doesn't mention anything, so it's unlikely to bring new features to the Galaxy S10 trio. Huawei is working on its own mapping service

Huawei officially confirmed that it's working on a mapping service of its own to reduce its reliance on Google's services after the US ban. Currently, the company is prohibited from using US technologies without a special approval and as it turns out, Huawei still isn't able to use Google Maps in its overseas phones. So here's where Huawei's mapping service, called Map Kit, comes into play. It's not for direct consumer use but instead serves as an API that third-party developers can use to make navigation software. The Map Kit can gather information from 150 countries and regions across...

Today we got an official confirmation coming straight from the company's product manager, Li Xiang. He posted a photo of the curved glass on Weibo, which looks identical to the image we saw a month ago. The curvature is extreme and by the looks of it, the bezels are extremely thin as well.
