Report says Moto Z2 Play will be slimmer, pack in smaller battery compared to Z play
We have already seen the Motorola Moto Z2 Play in leaked renders, and now some spec-related information about the device has been revealed. According to a new report, the phone will feature a slimmer frame compared to its predecessor. Report says the Z2 Play would be 6mm thick, which is a millimeter less compared to the Z Play. Not only this, at 145g, it will also be 20g lighter than its predecessor. However, the handset will pack in a comparatively smaller battery: 3,000mAh (Z Play featured a 3,510mAh battery). Other key specs that have been rumored include Snapdragon 626 SoC with...
Android Wear 2.0 is rolling out to Beta users of Huawei Watch
Huawei's first Android Wear smartwatch is still a great smartwatch today. Released in 2015, its looks still hold up today (better than the Huawei Watch 2 in our opinion). So you can understand why so many folks are patiently waiting for the new Android Wear 2.0 update. The Huawei Watch is now getting the AW update, however only those who are on the latest developer preview will get it first. Once the update rolls out to experienced testers with no issues, Huawei should give the green light to those units running stable software. The update should arrive for all variants of the Huawei...

Red HTC U 11 appears, virtual render leaks
We've got a new scoop on the HTC's upcoming flagship device, the HTC U 11. We've already heard the device will come with a 3.5mm headphone jack to USB-C adapter, which directly implies that the device won't feature a headphone jack. What, are you surprised? Anyway, a new leak comes to us today from reliable rumor leakster, Onleaks. The HTC U 11 is featured in a rendered video with a bright red color scheme, which looks quite "hot", just in time for the summer. The backside is the just as glossy-red as the HTC U Ultra was glossy-blue. Anyway, if we are to believe this is the HTC U 11,...
Galaxy J7 (2017) once again leaks in full on GFXBench
Back in February a device named Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017) appeared on GFXBench. Now, a different version of the same device appeared on the benchmark website, hinting at better specs. The current listing suggests the new Galaxy J7 (2017) will have Full HD resolution on the 5.5" screen along with 12 MP cameras on the front and on the back. According to the benchmark, the chipset will be Samsung's in-house Exynos 7870 with octa-core CPU clocked at 1.5 GHz and a Mali-T830 GPU. The memory listed is 2.8 GB which might translate to 3 GB RAM while the storage is 16 GB, 11GB available to...
Netflix mobile HDR and Dolby Vision coming in version 5.0
This year, we have not one but two HDR capable smartphones on the market, the LG G6 and the Samsung Galaxy S8. Yet, two months after the launch of these devices we still don't have any HDR content on mobile. So what gives? Well, it seems Netflix might be coming with some soon. According to the company's support page, HDR and Dolby Vision content will be coming soon on mobile. This will be available in the upcoming version 5.0 release of the Android app and the only device supported for now is LG G6. No support for the Galaxy S8 has been announced at this point. As for Amazon, the...
OnePlus 5 confirmed, coming this summer
OnePlus' successor of the 3 and the 3T will be named OnePlus 5 and will arrive this summer. This was confirmed to The Verge and is the first official information from Shenzhen. Until now we only had teasers, rumors and leaks. They suggested that the phone will arrive with 5.5" screen of QHD resolution and a Snapdragon 835 chipset. The RAM will be 6 GB but leaks for 8 GB appeared as well. OnePlus decided to skip the 4 since the number is considered unlucky in China. The company also said one of the reasons for picking the 5 is the number five jersey of a former NBA player Robert Horry,...
IDC: Apple leads as tablet shipments shrink 8.5% in Q1 2017
Q1 2017 saw an 8.5% decline in worldwide tablet shipments, according to analysts from IDC. 36.2 million units were shipped globally, compared with 39.6 million a year ago. Four out of top 5 vendors saw a decrease in shipments. The exception is Huawei, which managed to raise its shipments 31.7% from 2 million in Q1 2016 to 2.7 million 12 months later. Apple stays on top for the period with 8.9 million shipped tablets, ahead of Samsung with 6 million. The Cupertino company saw a sharper decline than its Korean rival, though. Huawei is third ahead of Amazon and Lenovo. IDC...
Apple now king of wearables, main competitors decline
The wearable market is growing slowly but its dynamics are changing. According to Strategy Analytics, Apple ousted Fitbit from the top position with 3.5 million wearables shipped during the first quarter of this year. That's a jump of 59% compared to the same period last year. Apple raced ahead of the market, which grew only 21% annually for a total of 22 million units shipped. Fitbit went from first (with 4.5 million in Q1 2016) to third (with just 2.9 million in Q1 2017), a massive slump. Xiaomi also declined - from 3.8 million to 3.5 million - but it still kept enough market share...
Xiaomi left out the headphone jack on the Mi 6 for bigger battery
Last month, Xiaomi announced the Mi 6 in China. Upon closer inspection it was revealed that the phone does not have a headphone jack, like so many others in the past year. When asked why, Xiaomi had the same reason to give as Apple. According to the quote given to Android Central, not having the headphone jack allowed Xiaomi to make space for other components, such as a bigger battery. Indeed, the Mi 6 has a larger 3350mAh battery over the 3000mAh on the Mi 5 despite being roughly the same size. With the headphone jack gone, the Mi 6 now relies on the USB-C connector to output audio...
Samsung Galaxy S8 Active has visited Netflix
The Galaxy S7 active couldn't tread water, but AT&T wants Samsung to have another go. Earlier, its code name leaked - Cruiser - and now the first footprints of this mysterious beast have been found in an unexpected place. Netflix confirms that the SM-G892A - aka Galaxy S8 active - supports HD streaming. Good to know, but kind of a spoiler, Netflix. The regular Galaxy S8 is already waterproof to an IP68 level (over 1.5m depth and 30 minutes), but so was the S7. What the S7 active added was MIL-STD-810G, so we expect to see the Galaxy S8 active uphold the same military standard....
Refurbished Samsung Galaxy Note7 gets FCC certified
The Galaxy Note7 is being reborn. Samsung is inching closer to a relaunch after the device received FCC certification. A listing by the Federal Communications Commission appeared with model numbers SM-N935KOR, SM-N935K, SM-N935L, and SM-N935S. We know the refurbished Galaxy Note7 is behind this codename since we already reported a rumor about the same model name two months ago. The device is expected to have Exynos 8890 Octa chipset with 4 GB RAM. The battery might be 3,200 mAh and is going to be charged through the USB-C. Source
OnePlus 5 About screen shows 8GB
The OnePlus 5 was recently listed on OppoMart at a price of $450. That's not that a lot of money for the kind of specs being talked about - including 8GB of RAM. Check out this leaked screenshot of the About screen, which shows that much RAM plus 128GB of storage. Notice the software, Hydrogen OS. This means it's from the Chinese version. OppoMart (the store that leaked the price) lists only 6GB of RAM in the specs. It's possible this is a local version (more RAM is necessary in the region as competition is tough). Then again, OppoMart isn't terribly reliable when it comes to...
HTC U Ultra Sapphire Edition incredible scratch resistance verified
HTC released a special edition its U Ultra flagship with a sapphire screen and naturally everyone was curious if it's really as great as it sounds. Luckily Zack from the popular YouTube channel JerryRigEverything put the device under the scratch test along with a luxury Tissot watch and provided the answer. A hybrid glass $50 screen protector for Galaxy S8 was also thrown into the mix. The test consisted of attempting to scratch the three panels with objects with increasing hardness. The screen protector fails at the level 3 on the Mohs scale, meaning any gold or silver jewelry might...
