Huawei Honor 10 in for review

Huawei's affordable flagship, the Honor 10, aims to deliver the P20 experience to those unwilling to actually fork the cash for the real thing. It does cut some corners, but for the most part the Honor 10 does a pretty great Huawei P20 impersonation while costing significantly less. Both phones have the HiSilicon Kirin 970 at their hearts, which makes the Honor 10 the most affordable device with the high-end SoC. It also comes with 4GB of RAM and 64 or 128GB of internal storage. Even the battery capacity remained the same at 3,400 mAh and given the fact that the screen has a smaller ...

Week 20 in review: OnePlus 6, Nokia X6, vivo X21i and Oppo Realme1 are official

This was a big week for phone announcements. For the previous two weeks or so we have seen plenty of leaks and rumors all leading up to the past few days. For starters the OnePlus 6 was made official at an event in London on Wednesday. But before that we got a few big leaks detailing much of what was eventually announced. The Nokia X6 was also announced with a 5.8-inch IPS LCD and a notch. It's trying to step on the iPhone X's toes thanks to its similar look, vanilla Android backed with Nokia's brand recognition and far more attractive price. Oppo unveiled its Realme sub-brand and...

Weekly poll: OnePlus 6 - hot or not?

The OnePlus 6 is finally out, but is it everything you hoped it would be. It's not the most far-reaching upgrade over the OnePlus 5T, but then again there wasn't too much wrong with the previous flagship and that one only came out six months ago so we couldn't expect much more. The most controversial part is of course the notch, which is the key visual difference compared to the outgoing model. However, it let a larger display with slightly higher resolution fit in what is essentially the same footprint. Another noticeable change is the design of the back, where the OnePlus 6 follows...

In past tense: The story of Ricky's phones, chapter 1

In Past Tense is our series of articles in which the GSMArena team takes you on a nostalgia-infused ride through the phones that impressed them the most through the years. I'm Ricky and I'd like to walk you through my history of phones. I'd like to start off by saying that I had a lot of fun writing this. It certainly took me through a nostalgia trip going through which phones I owned at various stages of my life. In fact I may have gone a bit overboard, which meant we had to split the article in two parts. Sit back, grab a cup or glass of your favorite hot, cold, fizzy, or...

The new phones of week 20

We were off to a great start this week with two excellent mid-rangers paving the way - Oppo's sub-brand Realme launched the Realme 1 and vivo's X21i debuted as the second spinoff of the original vivo X21 - focusing more on the selfie experience. Boasting a 90% screen-to-body ratio - the screen being 6.28-inch Super AMOLED - 24MP selfie cam, MediaTek Helio P60 behind the wheel and a generous 3,425 mAh, the vivo X21i fits perfectly in the sub $500 category while offering something slightly different than its X21 and X21 UD siblings. Even though the price of Oppo's Realme 1...

Weekly poll results: Android P gets a warm welcome

Android P brought some drastic changes, but most of you feel those are for the better. Sure, there are some controversial decisions Google's team has made but they also introduced so much new functionality that the trade-off are worth it. The new navigation gestures will pave the way for the all-screen front panels of the future. In fact the presence of a back button was often brought up against Android P - it would be nice to see gesture control taking its place. Also, the revamped drop-down menu has sparked some debates here and there so we would like to see it ironed out by the time...

Sunday debate: Buttons vs Gestures

As Android P introduces new iPhone X-like gestures, in this weeks Sunday Debate we deliberate which are better - hardware buttons or gestures? Paul: "Buttons still have their place" When it comes to this particular topic, I'm conflicted. In reality, I like, appreciate and use gestures on a daily basis that are implemented well and 'feel right' without slowing me down by distracting me or demanding too much of my attention. Android P with its Digital Wellbeing Dashboard will inform us how many times we unlock our phones on a daily basis which will make for compelling reading....
