Android Wear 2.0 update for Motorola Moto 360 Sport seems imminent
It looks like Motorola will soon start rolling out the Android Wear 2.0 update to its Moto 360 Sport smartwatch (if not already). A support page detailing the update recently popped up on the company's website, suggesting an imminent roll out. The update should arrive as version NXH20Z, and bring along features like on-watch Play Store, material design & app launcher, Google Assistant, Lightweight Doze, Side button functions, and some regular bug fixes. Motorola says roll out will be in phases, so be patient if your wearable is yet to receive it. For more details, head to the Source...
Week 32 in review: Nokia 8 and Asus Zenfone 4 quartet go official
In a welcome change of pace, this week brought a few major announcements to go with the usual leaks. Nokia, now under HMD management, brought its first proper flagship as the 8 went official in London. Coming with dual Zeiss camera and a Snapdragon 835, the Nokia 8 will aim to fight it out in the premium segment and from what our first impressions show it might just have what it takes. Asus held its own event that saw the official debut of four Zenfone 4 handsets. Some interesting devices among those too, so be sure to check them out. Meanwhile the Huawei Mate 10 leaks continued...
Weekly poll: now that the Nokia 8 is official, is Nokia back?
It's back! Or is it? The Nokia 8 was unveiled this week, marking both the return of camera-focused Nokia flagships and a new option for a high-end pure Android phone. The phone checks some of the boxes for a 2017 flagship, but also misses some. The Nokia 8 has a microSD slot (unlike the Pixel and OnePlus 5), a dual camera (unlike the Galaxy S8, HTC U11, Xperia XZ Premium), a headphone jack (U11 again), a QHD screen (damn it, OnePlus)... not bad when you think about it. It is missing some things, though and sadly bezels aren't among them. There's also no full waterproofing or stereo...
Top 10 trending phones of week 33
The new Nokia 8 generated much buzz and it debuts on the podium of our Top 10 chart, right ahead of the Nokia 6. With the flagship out, the mid-range model lost a bit of steam and we wouldn't be surprised to see these two further apart next week. Only a couple of weeks old, the Lenovo K8 Note continues to rise and this week it was the runner up, behind another 5.5" phone - the Galaxy J7 Pro. Will the dual camera and competitive price allow the K8 Note to reach the top next week? Possible, unless the Nokia 8 overtakes it. The following three phones on the chart retained their...

Counterclockwise: Nokia genetics and the features it evolved
Nokia is one of the oldest mobile technology companies and has an amazing portfolio of phone-related tech. The networking equipment arm dates back almost to the company's inception, but the phone division was disbanded. A new company, HMD, recently took up the mantle and it just launched its first flagship, the Nokia 8. This brought back a lot of memories, so we decided to put pen to paper, or rather fingers to keyboard and share some of them. We most fondly remember PureView, which debuted with the eponymous Nokia 808 PureView. There's no clear definition of what "PureView" means, though....
Weekly poll results: camera phones get a pass on humps, everything else better be flat
Most people don't care for humpback phones... unless they are camera phones. Last week's poll on the matter revealed a 2:1 preference for flat phones, but the simple yes or no vote doesn't tell the whole story. Looking through the comments reveals a fairly common sentiment - "I don't mind a hump, if it's for a great camera". Unfortunately, extra-large camera sensors are not the reason behind modern humps, instead they are caused by extra-thin phones. Even those that are okay with the camera want it to flow into the design. Everyone has their favorites, but plenty of examples were given...
