Google Maps now automatically translates local reviews into your preferred language
Google has pushed out a new update to its Maps app. The update brings along a major feature: the app now automatically translates local reviews into the language you've set on your device. "The best part is that you don't have to do a thing," the company says in a blog post. "Just open Google Maps or Search, search for what you're interested in and the reviews are automatically translated." As you can see in the screenshot above, the translated review is followed by the review in the native language. Source
Samsung Brazil lists violet-colored clear case, could this be a hint?
There were previous rumors that Samsung was going to release a violet-colored Galaxy S8 and/or Galaxy S8+. It appears those leaked photos were not in vain. While we don't know where, or when a violet S8 would come, it could very well be that Samsung is planning for it. A listing on Samsung Brazil lists a "Clear Protective Case" for the Galaxy S8, tinted in three colors: Black, Silver, and what should be "Grey" is actually "Violeta". It's not even a mistake, as the color dot is, in fact, violet. However, what doesn't line up is when you select the violet clear case, you're shown an...

Google Photos on iOS updated with Airplay support
We don't know what has taken so long, but Google has finally updated its Google Photos app for those of you using iOS. The new update lets you take advantage of AirPlay for the purpose of throwing photos and videos up to your big screen. This way, you don't have to crowd around a small screen to view those vacation photos you took with your DSLR that were uploaded to Google Photos. Assuming it works like it does on Chromecast, you'll be able to cast a photo or video using Airplay and search for the next one on your device. That way your library's thumbnails aren't put on...
Google's three new Pixel devices for 2017 will all have the Snapdragon 835 inside
Although it's hardly shocking, today it's been revealed that Google's new 2017 Pixels will all be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chipset. Code commits in the Android Open Source Project were spotted that give this away. That's not surprising at all, considering the fact that the chip maker hasn't yet announced a successor for the 835, so it's still its top of the line SoC. We say "all" the new Pixels because apparently there are going to be three, not two. A device codenamed Muskie will be the follow-up to the original Pixel, while the 2017 iteration of the Pixel XL is...
Huawei Enjoy 7 Plus becomes available on April 28
Earlier this month Huawei made the Enjoy 7 Plus official. And today the Chinese company has finally shared when the phone will go on sale. It turns out that will happen on April 28, so this coming Friday. For starters, it will only be available in China, but we might see it in other markets in due course - perhaps under different names, however, because that's a game that Huawei has recently enjoyed playing. The Enjoy 7 Plus will start at CNY 1,499 (approximately $217 or 200). For that amount of cash you get a version with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. If you want 4GB of RAM and 64GB of...
DJI Goggles let you control your drone by moving your head
DJI teased an upcoming VR headset at the launch of the Mavic Pro drone last year, and now the company is finally ready to share pricing and availability details for it. It's called DJI Goggles, and it's going up for pre-order today for $449. It is set to start shipping in late May. So what's so exciting about this? Well, for starters, it lets you control your drone's yaw or camera tilt simply by moving your head with the Goggles on. You turn left or right, the drone does the same - you get the idea. There's also a mode that will only move the gimbal without affecting yaw. The VR...
Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) runs GFXBench to have even more specs revealed
A couple of days ago we spotted the still-unannounced Galaxy J3 (2017) in the online database of Geekbench, and as usual this meant we were able to share some of its specs with you. However, Geekbench is far from having the most complete info screen for devices that run it, so there were still a lot of things up in the air. Not so anymore, though, because now the same J3 (2017), with the same SM-J330 model number, has also been put through the paces of GFXBench. And this benchmark has more information about the handset's innards, thankfully. As you can see, the Galaxy J3 (2017)...
Microsoft's LinkedIn surpasses 500 million members
LinkedIn is a Microsoft-owned social network that everyone uses because they think they should. Pleasure usually has nothing to do with it, and that's especially true for when you receive yet another informative (don't call it spam) email from the company. Today is a big day for the work-focused social network (if that can even be a thing). It's announcing that it now has more than 500 million members, which is fine but obviously nowhere near Facebook. That, however, is a social network you want to use because your friends are there, whereas you are on LinkedIn because you think otherwise...
4,500mAh battery totting LG X power2 to be launched in June
When the LG X power2 was made official back in February this year, the company said the 4,500mAh battery totting device will be launched in March. However, that didn't happen. Now, LG has confirmed that the phone will go on sale in June. Specifically, the company has revealed that the handset's launch is set for "early June," and South Korea will be the first market to get it. The device will carry a price tag of KRW 300,000 (around $265), and will be available for purchase through the top 3 South Korean carriers. Some key specs of the X Power2 include octa-core 1.5GHz chipset,...
Galaxy S8 US pre-orders were record-breaking for Samsung
Samsung's Galaxy S8 and S8+ are shaping up to become the company's most successful flagships in a while. The duo has already broken records in Samsung's home country of South Korea. Over there, people pre-ordered more than one million units in total, and that amount is more than what Korea has seen for any other flagship smartphone release. The S8 and S8+ have been well received in the US as well. This has been revealed today by Samsung Electronics America president and COO Tim Baxter. He says that pre-orders for the devices in the US were the "best ever" for Samsung, breaking records at...

Verizon's Galaxy S6 and S6 edge now receiving Nougat updates
Almost two weeks ago Verizon started sending out the update to Android 7.0 Nougat for its versions of the Samsung Galaxy Note5 and S6 edge+. And today it looks like it's finally time for those devices' slightly older and smaller flagship siblings to be put through the same treatment. We're talking of course about the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, now more than two years old - but still receiving big OS updates. That said, this is likely to be the last major new Android version they will get. Although Verizon is yet to publish its usual documentation for this new release, owners of the S6...
Galaxy S8 red tint is no big deal, Consumer Reports says
Some early adopters complained of reddish tints on the screens of their new Galaxy S8 units. Samsung immediately reacted and said it would issue an update over the next several days. Now, independent testing company Consumer Reports has shared its two cents on the matter saying that the problem is not that serious. Consumer Reports got its hands on eight Galaxy S8 devices, four of them with the tint out of the box. The testers claim the problem can be seen when two devices are positioned next to each other. The red-tinted screens allegedly look "appealing and natural" thus not...
Oppo R11 snapped in the wild while on a celebrity ad shoot
The Oppo R11 is still probably a couple of months away but its leaks are piling on. First it popped up on GFXBench's database to reveal its specs sheet. It then got pictured in the wild, revealing its dual rear cameras. Now we get a cleared look at the phone as it was snapped during an alleged ad shoot featuring Chinese pop singer and actor Wang Junkai. Oppo R11 pictured in the wild The pictures are of good quality but are shot from a long distance so we can't really gather much from them aside from the dual-camera setup on the back of the Oppo R11. What we've heard so far...

We are yet to hear more from Samsung,...
ZTE Axon 7s detailed: dual camera, bigger battery and Snapdragon 821
This is how you do it - ZTE finally revealed the full spec sheet for the Axon 7s and it's even better than we expected. We knew of the upgrade to Snapdragon 821, but the dual camera on the back was a surprise. The 20MP camera sensor is still on board (1.25µm pixels), but is now joined by a 12MP Sony IMX368 sensor (1µm). It seems that both have a bright f/1.8 aperture, phase detection autofocus and 4K video recording. The front camera hasn't changed (8MP). Besides the slightly faster chipset, the ZTE Axon 7s also gets more RAM than its predecessor - 6GB. It's not quite clear if there...

But on top of that, G6 buyers will also get INR 2000 ($31) off for pre-booking the device. Furthermore, HDFC and SBI credit card customers will get further INR 5,000 ($78) as cash back. Leaked images of the Meizu E2 show an usual flash
The Meizu E2 will be officially unveiled this Wednesday, so consider this a sneak preview. Leaked images show the metal chassis of the upcoming mid-ranger and a very unorthodox flash. It features four LEDs of alternating cool and warm colors that are arranged in a straight line. We're not sure what's the reasoning behind this arrangement, though it does lie neatly on the top antenna line. Perhaps not drilling a hole in the metal for the flash improves the rigidity? Or maybe it's just a design thing? Anyway, the rest of Meizu E2's back fits neatly into the company's lineup (though most...
Samsung and Qualcomm reportedly in talks over Snapdragon 845 for the Galaxy S9
Samsung is already looking towards the future - the Galaxy S9. A report from Aju Business Daily states that Samsung Electronics and Qualcomm are in talks to develop the Snapdragon 845 chip that will power the 2018 S flagship. While the Korean giant is preparing to start mass manufacturing of the next-generation 10nm chips, it is not a given that it will be the one making the 845 - TSMC is also in the running. Samsung is building the current Snapdragon 835 chipset on its 1st gen 10nm process, but the new one promises a 15% power reduction or a 10% increase in performance. TSMC is said to...
Sony Xperia XZ Premium gets a new color: Bronze Pink
As we near the start of sales of the Xperia XZ Premium, Sony has a surprise for us - a Bronze Pink color option. Here's what Xperia Color Designer (that's a job position apparently), Satoshi Aoyagi, has to say about the new hue: "We wanted to find a colour that represented a feeling of warmth whilst at the same time exemplifying the premium features and design. The bronze metallic finish adds a feeling of depth to the glass on the front and back." Sony Xperia XZ Premium in Bronze Pink Bronze Pink (don't call it Pink Gold) certainly adds a pop of color to the monochrome Deepsea...
