This comes after last month's rumor that Apple still doesn't know where it's going to put a fingerprint sensor. Andy Hargreaves, KeyBanc Capital Markets analyst explains that Apple is still struggling with integrating the new fingerprint sensor technology, presumably the kind that works...

T-Mobile Galaxy S8 updated for Google Daydream, kind of

T-Mobile's latest update to the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ was released on July 8 with a few updates, fixes, and enhancements. The update for both devices also mentions "Google Daydream compatibility". Even so, we are still unable to actually install the Google Daydream app on our T-Mobile Galaxy S8+. The app is simply not available on the Play Store. Google must still need to enable a server-side change so that Galaxy devices equipped with this update can go ahead and download the Daydream app. The update is merely preparing the devices to be Daydream compatible. The guys over at...

A new rumor out of China today claims that Xiaomi is looking to launch a third sub-brand, to sit alongside Mi and Redmi in its portfolio. While those two have initially been all about online sales channels, the new brand should come with a strong focus on offline sales. That's because it's being created in order to compete with Oppo and vivo, the BBK Electronics subsidiaries that have seen explosive growth in sales in China over the past few quarters. As Xiaomi has concentrated its efforts on selling stuff online, Oppo and vivo built an amazing distribution network of thousands of stores...

Huawei's online-only sub-brand first announced its latest flagship smartphone, the Honor 9, in China in mid-June. Then, towards the end of last month, it got officially introduced for Europe too. And now, just 28 days after sales of the Honor 9 have started, the CEO of the sub-brand has some exciting news to share - namely, that it's already managed to sell more than a million units. For comparison, consider that it took the Honor 8 around two months to reach 1.5 million units sold. One million sales in 28 days constitutes record-breaking performance for an Honor smartphone, and CEO...

LG Q6 leaked image shows a familiar design with a single rear camera

The phone that we thought would be launching as the LG G6 Mini will instead be branded LG Q6. Otherwise the 'mini' formula remains pretty much unchanged from many years ago when Samsung and LG started going this route. Thus, the Q6 looks like a smaller version of the flagship G6, as you can see from the leaked image below, which shows it inside a thin transparent case. However, looks can be deceiving - the handset is lower-end than the model it's trying to pass for. The Q6 has a single 13 MP rear camera, for example, and it's powered by the decidedly mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon...

Xiaomi Mi Max 2 to launch in India during the last week of July, rumor claims

Xiaomi announced the Mi Max 2 for its home market of China back in May, and has since launched it in other places, such as Malaysia. Not India, though. Yet, at least. Today a new rumor claims that the Mi Max 2 is almost ready to arrive in the subcontinent. The phone is said to be launching in India during the last week of this month. It will reportedly be priced at INR 15,999, which at the current exchange rates means $248 or €217. We assume that will be the starting price, the amount you'll need to pay for the entry level version with 64GB of storage. The Mi Max 2 is priced similarly...

Amazon's 7-inch Fire tablet definitely isn't the most expensive device around, even at its normal price of £49.99 in the UK. However, if you act fast you can now grab one for almost half that price. We're talking £29.99 for a brand spanking new tablet. Here are the caveats to keep in mind. First off, this deal is only available to those who are members of Amazon's Prime subscription service. Second, the deal ends at midnight, so you only have a few hours to act on it if you find it interesting. All that said, this is a £29.99 new tablet. It comes with a 7-inch 1,024x600 touchscreen,...

Sony Xperia XZ Premium scratches, burns, but doesn't crack when bent

The time has come for YouTube channel JerryRigEverything to put another smartphone through its now-standard durability test. It's Sony's Xperia XZ Premium on this occasion. The Japanese company's current flagship smartphone has "Premium" in the name, but are the materials it's made of also premium? Watch the video embedded below to find out. If you can't do that, we'll sum things up for you. As usual, the first test involves trying to scratch the screen with different picks, rated on the Mohs scale. Like every other smartphone's Gorilla Glass-coated display, the XZ Premium's scratches at a...

That might happen soon though as the device has just been spotted in a TV commercial. The video shows a man on a trip, stopping to take some pictures. The Meizu Pro 7's secondary display on the back is visible in several frames, albeit not used, so we are yet to learn more of its potential usages. For now, we've only seen leaks revealing its full color panel (and not e-ink), and...

Xiaomi X1 renders reveal the gorgeous bezel-less front

Last week we reported the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 was being scrapped in favor of the Xiaomi X1, but later it turned out they are merely two different projects. Now we see renders of the latter device, roughly based on the protective case we showed you. The renders suggest the Xiaomi X1 will have a screen with rounded corners. Previous rumors already predicted the phone will have 2160 x 1080 resolution and 2:1 ratio, similar to Full Vision display by LG in the G6. On the back we see the dual camera setup and the fingerprint scanner. And here's where a doubt comes into play....

The Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017) is already official but a bunch of leaked images show a variant of the phone for the Chinese market, sporting a dual camera. There are three buttons on the left side of the phone, one of them being dedicated to Bixby, Samsung's digital assistant. Looking...
