T-Mobile's BOGO Galaxy offer ends October 17

As with all of T-Mobile's promotions, they are made available "for a limited time" which means the carrier doesn't know when the promotion will end until whenever the carrier decides to end it. The Samsung Galaxy Note8 BOGO promotion has been going on since the first day of September. Customers can get a free 2017 Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+, or Note8 smartphone via rebate on a prepaid master card for new or existing customers on a T-Mobile ONE plan who add at least one line. Essential sued by Keyssa for theft of trade secrets in battle of ex-Google execs

Essential may be a startup in the mobile space, recently releasing its first smartphone, but apparently that doesn't mean it's safe from being sued. While Apple's legal spat with Qualcomm got most headlines so far in 2017, today we learn about a new fight - and it's interesting from one point of view at least. Keyssa Inc is suing Essential for alleged theft of trade secrets relating to a new technology that allows phones to connect to devices like cameras wirelessly. Yes, that is exactly how Essential's 360-degree camera accessory sends data to its phone. Keyssa is backed by Tony...

Galaxy Note8 for AT&T and Verizon is at least $150 off at Best Buy with installments

In what is sure to be a limited time offer, Best Buy has decided to let you save a minimum of $150 when you purchase a Samsung Galaxy Note8 for AT&T or Verizon. The big caveat here is that you have to use either carrier's device installment plan to do the deed, since if you pay the full retail price you receive no discount. If you don't mind monthly installments, though, that's a decent sum to be saving for what is still Samsung's top of the line smartphone offering. If you choose Verizon as your carrier, you only pay $32.75 per month for the phone, down from $39. In total, you will be...

DxO One camera for iPhone gets Facebook Live streaming, Android version coming soon

DxO Labs launched its first camera hardware more than two years ago. The DxO One is still available for iPhones, bringing with it a 1-inch 20 MP sensor in an extremely pocketable form factor. Today it's receiving an interesting software update, and an Android version of it has been promised for the near future. That device, coming with a USB-C connector instead of the Lightning port used on iPhones, will be fully revealed on November 2. What we do know right now is that there will be an early access program for it, launching sometime in the next few weeks alongside a 1.0 version of the...

The iPhone 8 and its glass back, allowing wireless charging at last. Reuters noted that the iPhone 7 is currently retailing for $549, compared to the $699 price tag of the iPhone 8. Samsung aims to bring Portrait Mode to Galaxy S8 with next update

Samsung is working on a Portrait Mode for the single camera Galaxy S8 and the feature could possibly land through a future software update. A customer inquired if such a feature is inbound and the resulting slightly answer from Samsung Electronics support read: "there is no information yet, but we hope that you will get portrait mode update with the next SW". Normally support responses would have only contained the first part, but this one not only suggested that the feature is a possibility, but also gave hope that it's just around the corner. The Samsung Galaxy S8 lacks a...

Huawei Mate 10 vs. Mate 10 Pro: screen battle

Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro - the second one is clearly better, right? It says so right in the name! But if the main difference between these two is in the screen, then how come the Pro screen isn't clearly better? The Pro model packs AMOLED while the base Mate 10 uses LCD. This brings much a higher contrast ratio and better colors - while both displays support HDR10, the AMOLED boasts 112% NTSC coverage while the LCD only goes up to 96%. And the Pro model has an 18:9 screen, keeping with current trends. But it's this aspect ratio that skews the numbers. Despite having a 6"...

Alongside it comes the Porsche Design edition, which builds on the solid hardware with an even more premium exterior. The Huawei Mate 10 Pro has a 6" AMOLED panel with a wider 18:9 ratio. The resolution raises an eyebrow, however. This year's Pro has FHD+ resolution (that's 1,080 x 2,160px and 402ppi), last year's model had QHD (1440 x 2560px, 534ppi). The camera maintains its assistants - OIS, Laser and Phase...
