Realme X50 5G incoming with two selfie cameras

Realme introduced its first flagship called X2 Pro earlier this year, and it came with the Snapdragon 855+ chipset and plenty of other premium specs. Now, the company is aiming even higher and will introduce the Realme X50 5G very soon, the CMO of the company revealed on Weibo. The post by Xu Qi Chase also has the outline of a phone, and we can spot two cameras in the upper left corner in what appears to be a punch hole in the display. This means the X50 5G will be not only the first 5G-enabled phone of the brand, but also the first one with a hole in the display. While the jump...

Checking in with Corning: the status of foldable glass

Last week, we had the chance to talk to Scott Forrester, Division Vice President, Marking and Innovation Products at Corning. The company offered us a look at Corning's history of glass and ceramic manufacturing, along with insight on the production of Gorilla Glass for smartphones. Corning Incorprated We had a chance to ask questions about Gorilla Glass and how Corning strikes a balance between scratch resistance and durability against shattering. We also asked about the progress of using flexible glass in foldable smartphones. Finally, we checked in with Corning on its thoughts...

Week 47 in review: Galaxy S11 rumors, Realme 5s official, new ColorOS, Redmi K30 leaks

Week after week it becomes clear that we can't get enough of the Samsung Galaxy S11, even though we are still three months away from its launch. Most of the rumored information about Samsung's February of 2020 flagship comes from decoding the beta One UI 2.0 software. It uncovered that the Galaxy S11 will have a 120Hz screen and a 108MP camera, along with features such as Director's View, Night Hyperlapse and Vertical Panorama. The other rumors are based on unconfirmed info from the supply chain, which claims the Galaxy S11 will have slimmer bezels than the Galaxy Note10+, along with 25W...

Flux Beamo laser engraver review

Introduction Now, Laser cutters and engravers are not our usual forte. Yet having acquired a few around the office for various reasons recently, we have been fairly immersed and quite interested in the field. And having seen a few decent reviews, we thought we'd share our impressions by this latest one Beamo, which we found particularly exciting. It's the latest project by Flux - a company that first made a name for itself with the sub $1000 Delta personal 3D printer. On paper, Beamo is a pretty powerful 30W CO2 laser cutter and engraver, with impressive 1,000 DPI resolution, a...

Top 10 trending phones of week 47

Xiaomi totally dominated our trending chart two weeks ago, but it's lost some ground since. Still, the Chinese maker has the top two spots covered thanks to the Redmi Note 8 Pro and the Redmi Note 8. In third we have a new entry - the return of the Motorola Razr finally got people talking. The vertically foldable phone has somewhat disappointing internals given its $1,500 price tag, but there's no denying the coolness of its design. Then we have the Realme X2 Pro, the first flagship by the emerging brand using its Indian launch to rise up to fourth. Following it closely is another...

Realme 5s in for review

In today's saturated smartphone market, it takes a lot of effort to stay relevant and remain in the limelight. That would explain why Realme chose to release a refresh to one of its key models just three months after its release and this week we got the new 5s. Visually, the device is identical to the widely popular Realme 5 but it now comes in a sweet new Crystal Red paint job - making it the first Realme to do so. The other change is the main camera sensor which has been upgraded to the 48MP Samsung GM1 module, up from the 12MP one on the Realme 5. It's not much but the Realme 5...

Weekly poll: which is the best foldable form factor?

After years of stagnation, smartphone design is a field replete with innovation. Just months after the first-ever foldable phone, we've seen two more launches that present two alternative views of how a phone should fold. They were off to a rocky start, but the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X are selling out as fast as their companies can make them. Samsung is signing deals to ensure higher production capacity for next year and we're sure Huawei is doing the same. But will Motorola prove to be a dark horse? The Motorola Razr 2019 is showing that a clamshell form factor can be...
