Huawei Mate X2 gets certified with 66W charging

The next Huawei foldable device is expected to be called Mate X2. It is likely to be an entirely new device and not just an update like the Mate Xs was to the original Mate X. One of the changes is a new fast-charging standard - 3C (CCC or China Compulsory Certification) has already certified the phone and listed 66W charging speeds - over 20% faster than the previous two Huawei foldable phones. Huawei TET-AN00/TET-AN10 (Mate X2) on 3C We don’t know much about the Mate X2 aside from the fact it will be able to connect on Wi-Fi 6 and will ship with EMUI 11, thanks to a Wi-Fi Alliance...

Mediatek to launch a 6nm chipset with a architecture similar to Exynos 1080

Mediatek has been supplying smartphone companies with plenty of midrange and entry-level chipset with 5G capabilities, but the company has been moving upwards recently and it now seems ready to take another step. According to one reliable leakster Digital Chat Station, the new platform will be based on the 6 nm process technology and will have the same architecture as the upcoming Exynos 1080 platform by Samsung. The Mediatek chip has a model number of MT689x (the last digit is yet unknown) and will have a Mali-G77 GPU. The leakster Digital Chat Station claimed it will reach over...

OnePlus Nord SE to come with 65W charging and Snapdragon 765G

OnePlus announced the vanilla Nord in July, followed by the Nord N100, and Nord N10 5G at the end of last month. Now we hear a Nord SE will be joining the series and according to Android Central it will be powered by the Snapdragon 765G SoC like the regular Nord. OnePlus Nord The publication also claims that Nord SE will sport an AMOLED display. Its diagonal is unknown, but the panel may have a 1080p resolution. The smartphone will pack a 4,500 mAh battery and support 65W charging that debuted with the OnePlus 8T. The Nord SE is codenamed "Ebba" and will be sold in India and...

Huawei Mate 30 Pro gets EMUI 11 update

The Huawei Mate 40 family launched recently running EMUI 11, and now the time has come for the company's latest Android iteration to make it to older devices as well. The Mate 30 Pro from last year seems like it's going to be among the first to receive the update to the new software version. Don't get your hopes up, though - this doesn't magically bring official Google app support. Nor does it elevate the underlying Android version, EMUI 11 is still based on Android 10. We're assuming that has something to do with Huawei being cut off by the US government more and more over the past few...

Samsung pushes another update to address Galaxy S20 FE touchscreen issues

Last month, Samsung sent out two updates for both 4G and 5G variants of the Galaxy S20 FE that aimed at fixing a touchscreen issue that was affecting some users of the phone. Before any fixes were issued, the phone would register ghost touches and jittery movement when scrolling or zooming. A new update is now rolling out for the Galaxy S20 FE, but initial reports of the update – which mention the touchscreen issues in the changelog – still don’t fix the issue entirely. The update’s build number is G781BXXU1ATK1 and the new firmware began rolling out this week. One of the bullet...

Apple suspends business with Pegatron over misuse of its student worker program

Apple has so many partners overseas and it tries to make sure that all its suppliers are following labor laws and regulations. Pegatron is one of Apple’s biggest partners, and it’s the second-largest producer of iPhones globally, the company also builds Mac computes, iPads, and other components. This company, along with Foxconn, are pumping out the new lineup of iPhones as fast as Apple can (pre)sell them. Apple has released a public statement about Pegatron where thousands of students were illegally working overnight shifts and overtime at the Shanghai factory, violating labor...

Reuters: Galaxy S21's early launch aims to take market share away from Huawei

Multiple reports suggest that Samsung will launch the new Galaxy S21 in January instead of February as usual. Reuters offers an explanation for the early launch – to capitalize on Huawei’s woes and grab some market share. Insiders claim that the S21 series will hit stores by the end of January instead of in early March. One source says that Huawei’s stockpiles of components will be running out sometime early next year, which will leave the company vulnerable. Rivals Xiaomi and Oppo are also looking to gobble up some of its market share too. The early arrival of the Galaxy S21 flagships...

OnePlus Nord N10 5G in for review

This is the OnePlus Nord N10 5G and it's cheaper than the OnePlus Nord. But that doesn't mean that it's a cheap-feeling phone. For starters it arrives in a reasonably-stocked box with a USB-C cable and a 30W charger. The only key ingredient that's missing is a complimentary case and at the time of writing we couldn't find one on OnePlus' website, so you'd better take care not to drop the N10 5G. Before we continue with our impressions of the OnePlus Nord N10 5G, let's address its place in the Nord food chain. OnePlus' best midrange phone is the OnePlus Nord, which has an AMOLED...

OxygenOS Open Beta 3 was released for the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro just before the end of October, but there was a mix-up. If you’re received the wrong update but haven’t restarted the phone yet, you should download this APK. This is a specially-designed app with that will help preserve your data, you just need to install it and hit the “Keep data” button. Sony is getting into the drone business with its new Airpeak project

Sony just announced the Airpeak project – its contribution to the field of camera drones, which will be based on the company’s imaging and sensing expertise as well as “3R” technology (Reality, Real-time and Remote). A short press release says that this project is aimed at the entertainment and “various” other industries, hinting at professional uses rather than consumer products. In fact, it’s not entirely clear if Sony will launch its own drone or if it will offer camera and sensor modules to drone makers. More updates will be posted on the dedicated Airpeak site, leading up to...

Nokia 8000 4G image and key features leak: 2.8" screen, S210 chipset, WhatsApp and Facebook

The first official image of the new Nokia 8000 4G has slipped out along with additional details about its design and features. First off, if you were expecting a slide-out keypad cover (a trademark of the original 8000-series), you’d be disappointed. The new design looks more like an ordinary featurephone, albeit with some premium touches. The sides of the phone, including the keyboard, are curved and the exterior has a “glass-like” design (whatever that means beyond “glossy”). The 8000 4G will indeed be a KaiOS device, with WhatsApp and Facebook apps. Also, the 4G connection could be...

From 2017’s Nokia 3310 to the Nokia 8110 4G and upcoming Nokia 6300 4G and Nokia 8000 4G, HMD is betting on nostalgia. Back in 2007, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more capable smartphone than the Nokia N95 and it seems HMD had plans to bring a modernized version of the device but ultimately chose not to. The latest Mr Mobile YouTube video gives us a look at a non-working prototype of the revised Nokia N95. At the 6:12 mark we can see Michael Fisher pull out the phone which looks like your...

What to expect from Apple's ARM-powered Mac event

Apple doesn’t normally announce new products this late in the year, but this is a special occasion – for the first time in its 44 year history, the company’s new computers will be powered by a processor designed entirely by Apple. Early Macintosh computers used Motorola CPUs, then in 1994 Apple switched to PowerPC (co-developed by Apple, IBM and Motorola) before moving to Intel x86 in 2006. And now in 2020 the Apple A-series chipsets are taking over, bringing both hardware and software under the same roof. The official announcement is tomorrow and we will be covering all new products...

Oppo has certified a smartphone on TENAA last week with the model numbers PEGM00 and PEGT00 and today the full specs sheet, along with photos, appeared in the listing. As we expected, this is the Oppo Reno5 5G smartphone - we assume it is not the Pro since the front panel is flat - both the Reno3 Pro 5G and Reno4 Pro 5G had curved sides of the screen. Oppo PEGM00/PEGT00 (Reno5 5G) We already reported some rumored specs sheet and the TENAA listing confirms them once again - a 6.43” OLED, 64MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP cameras and a 4,300mAh battery. The Korean tech company had a 33.7% share in the July-September period, which is an increase of 6.7 percentage points compared to the same period last year. Samsung’s numbers were driven up by strong demand for its mid-range models as well as the premium tier of phones, including the Galaxy Note20 series and the Galaxy Z Fold2 foldable. Apple dropped to second place with a 30.2% share. The team at Strategy Analytics points out that the delayed launch of the iPhone 12...

Moto G Stylus 2021 specs leak

Way back in February, Motorola released its Moto G Stylus in the US (known as Moto G Pro globally) and now Evan Blass is bringing our first set of detail on its successor. It will be powered by a Snapdragon 675 chipset which should deliver a performance boost over the SD 665 on last year’s model. RAM and storage will remain at 4GB/128GB. The camera setup will be nearly identical with a 48MP primary shooter alongside an 8MP...
