OnePlus has officially confirmed that its OnePlus 2 smartphone won't be getting the Nougat update. "Customer service has been telling customers this for a little while," the Chinese company said in a statement. "We're happy about what we're doing with software," OnePlus noted, adding "We already confirmed Android O will come for the OnePlus 3 and 3T. So [no Nougat for the OnePlus 2] isn't new and we think people were aware of it." As for the reason, the firm said: "When we built the OnePlus 2 we didn't have the software infrastructure team in place we do now." Via

Monument Valley 2 Review
When the original Monument Valley was released back in 2014, it set a high watermark for mobile games. The gameplay, visual design and soundtrack were outstanding for the time and four years later they still hold up very well. While a sequel was inevitable, we were taken by surprise when Monument Valley 2 was suddenly revealed on stage during Apple's WWDC 2017 keynote. Fortunately, we will not have to wait for months to get the game (like everything else that was announced during that keynote) and the game was pretty much already on the store by the time it was shown on stage. Of course,...

Sony Xperia Touch review
You may have seen Android tablets which have projectors and projectors which come with Android. Forget about all these. Here's a device that can project a touchable Android UI anywhere you go. And that's not all the Sony Xperia Touch is capable of. Join us as we discover what it's all about. What it is in a nutshell... The Xperia Touch is an Ultra Short Throw projector, which means it's one of the few elite projectors which can project an image of up to 100 inches in diagonal while sitting at just 38cm (15 inches) distance from the surface they are projecting on. Week 23 in review: OnePlus 5 dominates headlines, Samsung and Oppo unveil new phones
The OnePlus 5 was certainly the hottest name in our news section over the past week - the upcoming flagship easily dominated our list of best read articles. And that's despite the fact that we actually got official new hardware. Samsung unveiled its Galaxy J5 (2017) and Galaxy J7 (2017) mid-rangers, while Oppo delivered the R11 and R11 Plus flagships. Xiaomi added a new color to the Xiaomi Mi 6 palette, while Nokia kept holding local events for its 3,5,6 smartphones that are about to go on sale across the globe. .news-item .n-left { float: left; width: 28%; text-align:...
Weekly poll: HTC U11, hot or not?
HTC likes to try new things - like a little thing called Android. And while it's no longer in the lead of that market, it still managed to put out one of the most interesting devices of 2017. Yes, we're talking about the HTC U11. The design is an HTC classic that harkens back to the original One. The unique "liquid glass" used for the back creates a constantly shifting spectrum of colors that changes as you move the phone. We also appreciate that the body is IP67 waterproof, it makes it an honorary Butterfly. Like the Butterfly, the HTC U11 offers a sharp screen (5.5" QHD) and a...

Counterclockwise: Sony Ericsson and Symbian UIQ, the early days of the touchscreen smartphone
You may remember Symbian as an OS for old-school smartphones, but it had touch-centric branches as well. Who here has used a phone with Symbian UIQ? It's a dinosaur now, extinct and replaced by better adapted species, but like those Jurassic reptiles, UIQ still draws interest from gawking visitors to the museum. UIQ's story begins at Symbian Ltd. - a collaboration between Nokia, Sony, Ericsson, Motorola and Psion - in the distant 1998. In 2002, the newly formed Sony Ericsson started using UIQ for its touch-enabled phones. The company had some prior experience, courtesy of the...
Top 10 trending phones of week 23
The record-breaking streak of the Samsung Galaxy S8 at the top continues in week 23, as the Infinity Display beast holds the top spot for a 10th week in row. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 retained second, but its smaller Redmi 4 sibling was pushed off the podium by the Galaxy J7 Prime. Nokia 6 makes a return to the top 10 and surges to fifth place this week, capitalizing on its incoming global release. Another new entry, the OnePlus 5 goes 6th, even though it's yet to be officially announced. That's as strong an indication as any that the latest OnePlus flagship is ready to take the lead...
Weekly poll results: BlackBerry KEYOne garners strong interest
BlackBerry took a while to find its footing after touchscreen competition displaced its keyboard-based phones, but if our poll is any indication, the KEYOne is a return to form - both hardware keyboard and to a desirable status. Just over half of voters (53%) expressed interest in buying one! Meanwhile, very few (9%) claim that the Priv is better. Sure, it's a higher-end device, but something about it didn't click with consumers. Not so with the KEYOne, most commenters had a positive attitude towards BlackBerry's new phone (even despite its relatively high price). Just over a third of...
